Hi, and welcome! This is a writing and roleplaying blog for Captain Amelia, from Disney’s 2002 film Treasure Planet. It’s one of their lesser known films and, sadly, one of the last traditionally animated ones (it was on its way out at the time), so if you don’t know about it or haven’t seen the film, no worries at all. I’m always happy to give you a rundown of my character or answer questions about her. The main things you should know are highlighted here.

My name is Jenn! I’m over 25, she/her, and in the eastern time zone of the USA. I really enjoy the creative outlet of roleplaying and writing characters, and have been doing it for quite some time. I’m not a fast replier, and I will often disappear for weeks at a time due to my busy life. It’s hard to find time to be here very often, but I do my best because I love doing it. Please just respect that and we won’t have any issues! Also, it’s never personal if I drop a thread or disappear.

I have a few blogs other than Amelia! You can find me usually on my main one: my Megara blog at @keepmovinjunior (I need to be kinkshamed for any of the Disney ladies that Ken Duncan designed). Other blogs include @sheisthenorth, @mysteriousthief, and @uragirldragon. Don’t be afraid to IM me. I don’t use Discord, I'm sorry if that causes any disappointment, but I have tried so many times and I just can't use it consistently and do not have the attention span nor time for it. I am always happy to chat or plot here, though!

This blog is somewhat canon divergent, mainly to do with the Captain Amelia / Doctor Doppler romance. I don’t subscribe to it. No judgment if you like the ship, of course, to each their own! I just don’t really see Amelia ever getting with Doppler believably, and I choose to portray her as such. She would definitely be his friend though. I also write Amelia as a species called a Bastetian (not a Felinid, which is what she is in canon). They are my original invention and not canon. For more information on the species, check out this post.

This is a very wlw friendly blog, writer, and character. I write Amelia as a lesbian.

I will not be writing anything of a sexual or suggestive nature with minors, nor will I ever write Amelia in that way with any underage muses. This is non-negotiable. Please do not follow or interact with this blog if you are under 18 years of age. While I don't foresee a lot of nsfw material being present here, both I and Amelia are adults, and some adult themes may come up as a result.

Even as she says this, Amelia remembers her own misdeeds as a younger feline involving Mr. Arrow. She knows there used to be a side of her that would say it was tempting. One could look at that rocky man, as one cat does, and think: ah. To sharpen your nails! It could also be tempting to climb upon his shoulders and use him as an observation post... or to draw with chalk upon his chest while he sleeps.

It could happen to a cat.

These are all things she's, admittedly, thought about, at least as an adolescent. Or even, on one or two occasions, participated in.

But she'll hardly admit that to Simba! Furthermore, she has a rapport with Samuel Arrow. Why, he's practically raised her, come to think of it! And Amelia is a proper woman now; a sworn in naval officer of pride and duty, and not one whom would sell out a friend to a mischievous associate kitten for his own amusement. Not even a royal one.

❝ Generally, it's quite rude to use a living being as a scratching post, you know ━━ it'd make Mr. Arrow feel rather small. ❞

❝ Well, well, new face upon my ship, I daresay! ❞

Captain Amelia is standing in the helm, arms folded behind her. Her gaze is sharp, focused directly down at the brunette woman below. This one sticks out. It's not only her ... well, for lack of a better term, soft and unimposing beauty... but it's the almost incredulous way she's glancing about the ship, wandering, eyes luminous with that all too recognizable spark of wonder. This one is clearly not used to the usual procedures of a launch. Well, no matter. We'll set it straight right now.

It's not been a particularly good day for the Captain. Thus far, her crew's been disorganized. They're unruly, chaotic... and, her usual first officer, Mr. Arrow, hasn't been granted permission to join her on this next expedition... shortage of officers, too much unrest in the galaxy. To top it off, her cartographer hasn't reported. This is about to be a difficult journey, and she, quite honestly, does not have the time to look after a novice.

❝ Identify yourself, please! Are you here from the Academy? ❞

He had to get outta here. He had to leave right now. His heart was hammering against his chest, his eyes darting around the ship, searching for any possible escape. No, he had to find Pumbaa first and then they had to get outta here.

"PUMBAA!"

Timon was about to rush off and look for his companion when the captain took him by the scruff and lifted him up with ease. He stopped screaming long enough to look her in the eye, breathing sharply, trying to hear her out but he just couldn't calm down. He wanted to but he couldn't and he tried to wriggle out of her hold with little success.

"NO, WE WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO END UP HERE! YOU'VE GOTTA TURN THIS SHIP AROUND! I WANNA GO HOME!"

Oh, dash it all. This was going to be harder than she thought. This little meerkat was a lot less equipped for naval service than previously assumed. Amelia rolls her eyes, letting a sigh out. She'd have to meet him where he was at. Well, no matter! She's got a background in diplomacy; she'll make do.

❝ LISTEN! Timon, was it? I've hardly the time nor resources to turn us around now. But fear not, my good sir, we'll return you to your piggy chum at the end of the Andromeda patrol; it's on the way, no matter, no matter. In the meantime! Anyone onboard my ship plays their part! How would you like to bring a bit of theater to our embarkment? ❞

Not a hint of her playfulness seeps through; a telling sign of how she really feels about him. Muddy morals, shaky loyalties at best! It was downright shameful; against all honorific codes. However, she knows Jim loves the brute, and that's enough for her to leave him be. For now. ❝ I don't have time to be, as you say, 'out' for anyone, nor does that befit any naval officer of merit. Do get over yourself. ❞

And when the time comes you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails, and show what you're made of… well, I hope I'm there, catching some of the light coming off you that day.

❝ What? Now, don't tell me you're behind on your vocabulary! ❞ Amelia folds her arms in front of her, smirking mischievously. ❝ Why, any good statescat of your age and upbringing should be well on his way to a lavish vocabulary by now! I know just what the solution for this is! ❞

She leaves for a moment. And then, upon her return... THUD. An enormous book hits the ground in front of him! It's titled: NEW OXFORD THESAURUS OF ENGLISH.

❝ We're going to study. ❞

//I do wanna say, it might be possible that Doppler and Amelia's relationship might be a little bit rushed... The workprint notably has a different, shorter ending that shows the characters re-building the inn, and this was at a state where every scene up to that point had already been at least animated, and some of the film score composed and orchestrated (I think the workprint might be dated to April 12th 2002?);

Doppler and Amelia specifically having had babies, that only exists in the final film.

yeah for sure, it was very obviously rushed. like they really said "quick we need some heterosexuality in here" and threw the two gayest characters alive together for some reason. (the reason was it was 2002) but i digress. even without it being rushed i don't think i would've liked them. i don't think they made sense or were earned. and don't get me wrong i love the whole girlboss malewife thing but they were just. Not It to me. they just weren't he was too Triggered by her intelligence and competence which really made it meh for me

   At the mere mention of his best friend, Ratchet seems to brighten up even moreso as he grins. ❝He's got a mind like a steel trap, that's for sure.❞ Pretty much literally. A chuckle now as he adds, ❝Sometimes, he even records conversations and replays certain parts.❞

❝ Does he! Fascinating. ❞ Amelia would love a companion with such a talent. Oh, to replay some of her own masterful reprimands... her eyes are bigger and brighter at the thought. Ah, a beautiful picture.

Anyway!

❝ The mechanical lifeforms always have been the best at remembering things, it's true. I can't say the Terra empire is particularly big on their usage, but they're impressive all the same. ❞ More of a Procyon thing, come to think of it, Amelia ponders for a moment... but then, pulling herself out of her thoughts and noticing Ratchet again, it's also a Lombax endeavor; electric technology! And they're an admirable bunch.

She smiles, genuinely, at Ratchet, and at this thought.

Bastetians could learn a thing or two from them, perhaps.
