As soon as the name leaves the other’s lips, Harrison almost shuts down. Cold blues dart to the extended hand, yet he cannot bring himself to take it. Tesla Morgan–Tess Morgan–in every universe, it seemed, a version of himself and a version of HER either always found each other ( ALWAYS experienced tragedy ). Not this version of them, it seemed. Lucky.
Harrison wants to be jealous, then. Wants to let the bitter taste of it sharpen his tongue and poison his words because of course she would have all of it– everything he couldn’t while he was left a changed man from a tragedy that happened years ago.
Yet, he had Jesse. And she was the world to him and more. Out of tragedy came joy. That much, he wouldn’t change ever.
“Wells. Harrison Wells.”
His voice is barely a scrape in the back of his throat, hands clenching and unclenching at his sides in order to hide CONTROL the tremors that now threatened to overtake them.
“Earth-Two.”
There’s something in the way the other had reacted to hearing his name that had lessened the electric high of knowing that Etta is safe and that he’d found the right world. His own smile dims ever so slightly even as he lowers his hand, sliding both into his pockets with a casualness meant to give the impression that nothing is wrong. That he hadn’t taken offense, which he hadn’t. That he hadn’t noticed anything, though he had. He’d simply assumed the other, much like his wife, doesn’t like shaking hands.
But he had seen it. But what is ‘it’?
He doesn’t know the specifics, of course, or even the basics, really––he’s not some mind-reading Meta after all!––but obviously something is amiss. Something revolving, at the least, around his name; at the most, around him.
“Harrison Wells of Earth-Two, you say?” he repeats, though more to buy him time not only to think but to casually take a step back to give the other space.
“I see. Well then, as I started to say, pleasure to meet you, Doctor(?) Wells,” he says, venturing out on a limb in his assumption that the title ‘doctor’ may be applied to this Harrison Wells with as much validity as to Harrieta Wells.
“So what has you in the wolf’s den?” Apparently, some phrases are very different between Earths…
“Why aren’t you out with the others, I mean? Not that I’m not thankful for that,” he adds with a chuckle, “––because otherwise I think I’d've assumed that this was some kind of post-apocalyptic world and that the Earth’s population had been wiped out. I don’t think I’ve ever seen S.T.A.R. Labs so empty. Is everyone a hero in this world?”
I don’t like either candidate. Trump is immature and bombastic; Clinton is a lying, scheming hypocrite. So basically, this year was horrendous for voting.
But what we shouldn’t be doing, is hating on people for their votes. And to see the Clinton supporters doing just that after having decried and condemned anyone who voted Trump for ‘hating on people/certain groups of people’ while at the same time referring to his supporters as “the basket of deplorables” as being “irredeemable”… well that seems like anyone who’s saying these things and reblogging these ‘UNFOLLOW ME IF…’ are being pretty hateful themselves.
I don’t agree with Trump. I don’t agree with Clinton. I agree with neither of them.
BUT. Regardless of who you support, however, it’s not a reason to hate on someone else, to make them feel less like less than a human being. You want to get back at someone? Show them love despite what they may say. Show them love to spite them.
The last thing this country needs is more hate and more violence.
The last thing this country needs is more people shouting and hating and outcasting.
This is a nation founded on the principles of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. It was built on the foundations of Freedom of Speech and that ALL are free and have THE RIGHT to express their opinions without fear of PERSECUTION––in whatever form it might take––from the government or from their fellow citizens, whether in action or in words, whether spoken or typed behind the safety of a screen.
I beg all of you to please stop with this foolishness.
Please stop with these calls for more hate and violence and to ostracize people.
Please stop terrorizing people over their vote or over their opinions.
You don’t know what the other person’s reasons are. You don’t know what they do and don’t agree with. You don’t know their hearts, no matter what you may think, and most importantly, you don’t know what you’re doing to others when you do and say things like this. You don’t know how badly your words will wound someone. Or worse.
So please stop.
I’m sure I’ll get some unfollows myself for this, but even if you see fit to unfollow me, please at least think about what I’ve said here.
