WHENNNNN WILL I
i’m sick to death of the female body being a moral battleground, or ultimate symbol of whole/mutilated, sacred/desecrated, hurting & healing. i’m sick of everything being so meaningful, a billboard for projection of every person’s desires and disgusts and insecurities, our own & each others, or the image for a flag held up by a movement. i live here. my body is a furry little animal that needs food and water & i’m gonna make sure she gets itÂ
it is wild how women are people but we’re also supposed to be symbols and projects and metaphors and every bodily choice we make is Extremely Loaded and everyone gets to have opinions on everything we do

“You have to know what you stand for, not just what you stand against.”
— Laurie Halse Anderson, Speak (via the-book-diaries)
People always make fun of butch women’s appearance, but some of those big, muscular, “unfeminine” women frequently plant their asses between other women and predatory men. I’m speaking about the butches who have shielded me and my friends from physical harrassment when we were young and drunk and visiting gay parties for the first time. I’m speaking about the butches who keep bathrooms a safe zone. I’m speaking about the butches whose lesbian rage is only outshone by their infinite compassion for baby dykes.Â
Fuck your butch hate.
A long time ago, back when I was “straight,” before my very imposing wife was even my girlfriend yet, some jerk pinned me up against the wall at a party.
I was like, “Go away,” with my eyes glued to the floor and my heart pounding, but he wouldn’t. My boyfriend stood by and watched and said nothing.
She said, “Hey, leave her alone, you jerk!” and the guy was like, “What are you gonna do to me? This isn’t your business.”
Very calmly, she put her beer down, rolled up her sleeves, cracked her knuckles, and started walking towards him.
He bolted. I was amazed and I said, “What WERE you gonna to do him?”
“Oh I dunno,” she said, “They always run off before I get there.”
Later that night she drove me home and I threw up on her car. She still drove up to visit me in the big lonely city when I came out a year later, and her car door still made a sticky sound when I opened it.
“Trust No Butch” my big toe.
Trust No Butch Love Every Butch
LOVE EVERY BUTCH

2019 will be the year of kissing aphrodites thighs and giving no fucks, my loves
Occasionally – just occasionally – I’ll see some of y’all praise femmes, no doubt for how good we smell or how well we wear dresses or for how soft we are, you know, shit that merely scratches the surface of our identity, of who we are… and then in the next breath, continue to treat femmeness as superficiality, as paying lip-service to the patriarchy, as “passing privilege” (as if passing for straight tomboys hasn’t been survival method nĂşmero uno for butches since the dawn of time), as something that lesbians should overcome, and I’m just… I’m tired.Â
I’m femme and I’m powerful and I’m tired.Â
Thank you for talking about this - as a butch woman, hearing femmes spoken of in this exhausting dichotomy is not only cheap, but incredibly disrespectful.
To insinuate a femme is either nothing but a doe-eyed stereotype or a slave to the patriarchal gaze defeats the sheer rebellion, courage, and power all of the femmes I’ve met have had. She is not your manic pixie dream girl and she’s not someone you can berate for continuing to present femininely even though she is very aware of how our society pushes women to do it. Not only that, but I’ve seen other lesbians question the legitimacy of a femme’s homosexuality because she continues to be feminine.
You all deserve much better.Â

I like to hold my hand so gently over my eye, and feel my eyelash flutter there, so soft so insect-like
