I've been here for over a year and thought I'd do an intro post. I've been drifting in and out of fandoms since I was in my teens. I mostly post on Archive of Our Own (here). I post my ramblings about my current fandoms here, along with links to my works.

AO3 has recently seen a wave of comments claiming to be made by the "AO3 Trust & Safety team", notifying you that your account has been restricted. These claims are not true. These comments are not being made by real AO3 volunteers and your account has not been restricted.
AO3 volunteers, including the Policy & Abuse committee, will never communicate with you through comments on your work. All important communications from AO3 will be sent through the email associated with your account. More general announcements will be posted on our official social media accounts or published as news posts on AO3 or OTW.org.
If you receive one of these comments, do not click on any of the links in it, reply to it, or interact with it in any way. The links in these comments lead to sites asking you to verify your identity by providing payment information. This is a common credit card scam. AO3 does not ever ask users to provide payment information, and the Policy & Abuse committee will never comment on your works asking you to "complete an identity verification process".
If you encounter one of these comments or believe your account has been compromised, please view the instructions under the cut!
We suggest that you review your account to verify that you're using a unique and secure password. Check out the advice from our Policy & Abuse committee on Protecting Your AO3 Account and Keeping Your Account Secure.
If you believe your AO3 account has been compromised for any reason (i.e. you received an email that your username changed), you can change or reset your password to ensure control of your account. If you encounter one of these comments on your own work or someone else's, please report them to the Policy & Abuse committee. To do so:
Select the "Thread" button on the scammer's comment. This will take you to the specific comment page.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Policy Questions & Abuse Reports.
In the "Brief summary of Terms of Service violation" field, enter "Spambot".
In the "Description of the content you are reporting" field, enter "This is a spambot, their username is USERNAME."
Reporting in this fashion helps us auto-sort your report so that it can be handled as soon as a Policy & Abuse volunteer is available. To help us address reports about these types of bots as fast as possible, please only submit one report per account, and don't include multiple accounts in the same report.

We were talking about atla the other day and someone mentioned a fanfic they read and one of my friends said that they dont approve of fanfic of atla because theyre children.
And i was like "not all fanfic is sexual."
"Yeah, suuuuuure."
And its like.... fanific is not my preferred way to interact with media but even I know that:
1. not all fanfic is about sex.
2. Underage persons write fanfiction and they should be allowed to interact in Fandom this way.
3. Even if it was all sexual, they are not real people. They are fictional.
Can't believe im saying this in 2026 but literally if it makes you uncomfortable, dont read that.
Wait, do people really assume all fanfiction is porn? Not even MOST fanfiction is porn! This is something you can easily demonstrate with a quick AO3 search!
sorry but someone assuming you have "left a fandom" when you don't post about it a lot anymore feels like bilbo coming home to the sackville bagginses having him presumed dead and selling all his stuff. girl i was just on a little quest????
one of the funniest conversations I ever had with my ex was when they were still getting used to Celsius and asked me "what's 20 degrees?" and instead of converting it, I said "it's the highest your dad will ever let you set the thermostat and when you say you're cold he tells you to put on another sweater, we're not made of money" and they went "oh, 68"
the fact that this reference was that fucking precise was something they went on to tell people about for years.
Sometimes, fanfiction is carefully plotted out stories, with plot points and call backs and themes that all tie it up in a meaningful and exciting way.
And sometimes fanfiction is, ‘Watch me do a fucking KICK FLIP off this cool sentence!! Also here's some sex'
Sometimes a creative outlet is a fun little hobby and sometimes it's a lifelong affliction. Like I crochet because making little woven animals sparks joy and I'm a writer whether I like it or not because I'm tormented by visions
I remember not being sure whether I wanted to laugh or cry when I watched this scene the very first time xD
I love how clearly Riza's emotions are visible here when she hears about Roy's loss of sight for the very first time. It affects her deeply, and she doesn't try to hide it, almost overwhelmed by it as she tells him to worry about himself. And even though they're surrounded by, I'd say, around ten people, it feels as though the two of them are in their own little bubble.
… and then Roy interrupts her, thus ruining Riza's pretty clear intention of touching his hand/face!! 😭 I know he's blind, and I know he couldn't have known she was lifting her hand towards his face, but mannnn. I really wanted to yell at him to shut up and let her do her thing xD
Given that he's blind, he really had a great intuition for ruining what could've been such a wonderful and tender moment, lol. Maybe it's better he doesn't know it happened - he'd be banging his head against the wall forever, knowing he'd given away such a precious moment 😂
