I'm a bit late, but here's a comic for Mu Qing's birthday (17.02.).

He's receiving his first (cheesy) poem from Feng Xin (Feng Xin tried very very hard, don't be mean to him! 🥹 - also, it worked, Mu Qing is in tears from how touched he is 🥰)

You know what I find really funny? That the majority of people that write fanfics going more into detail about the deputies went and independently took the collective decision to make Mu Qing's head deputy a character-strong, sassy and competent woman.

Especially hilarious because Feng Xin's scared of women 😂

Mu Qing carried his devotion like a secret, heavy and unspoken, afraid it would be mocked if revealed.

Mu Qing is a torn character who carries a lot with him and who tends to contradict himself. He longs for closeness yet chooses distance, he pretends he doesn’t care yet cares far more than so many others and chooses to help even when it brings him trouble - even if he carries having helped with him like a shameful secret that he fears will be used against him, like it has happened so many times before.

It’s his complexity and the discrepancy between who he pretends to be and comes across as - arrogant and detached - and who he is beneath that - someone incredibly vulnerable and kind - that makes me love this character so much.

Btw, the post above is one of the best Mu Qing studies I‘ve ever read. ❤️
