folks, someday you are gonna be writing, and you're gonna put something on paper and hear a voice say "i know this is what you want, but will people like it?" and im here to tell you that is the DEVIL talking and you do whatever you damn well please
If fandom has taught me anything it has also taught me that there are at least five people in the world who will want it regardless of what it is, and they will find you.

I'm just picturing the writer's room after someone found out.
"Hey, guess what..."

One of my favorite bits and I can't for the life of me find the quote is where people complain to John Rogers about Eliot being too talented, or having too many skills, like "No one can sing and fight and cook and act and be good at everything. You're making your characters unrealistic!" And John's just like *gestures at Chris* "He can actually do all of that."
What's even weirder is he does the EXACT SAME THING WITH ALDIS HODGE. Oh, he's actually a musician, fashion designer, watchmaker, and actor? Yeah.

[ID: eight gifs of several different shots from the netflix show “shadow & bone”, each with a different line from the poem ‘march’ by mary oliver. the first shows a shot of only his hands as kaz brekker removes black gloves, words over it saying ‘something touched me, lightly’. the second is a shot of only hands where inej ghafa hands her knife into kaz’s gloved hands, the words over it say ‘like a knife blade.’ the third shows different shots of kaz looking at inej furtively with words that read ‘i felt i was bleeding’. the fourth is kaz speaking quickly with the words ‘though just a little, a hint.’ over it. the fifth shows kaz walking down stairs rapidly and pausing, the words over saying ‘inside i flared hot. then cold.’ the sixth shows different shots of inej looking out in the distance, the words read ‘i thought of you’. the seventh shows kaz looking at inej, the words say ‘whom i love’. the last shows kaz looking upwards, shocked, the word over it says ‘madly.’ / end ID]

Men in Black (1997) dir. Barry Sonnenfeld
I use this scene to explain implicit bias to people. his first instinct is to assume the aliens are violent and the girl is innocent, but instead of acting on those assumptions he takes time to recognize his bias, look at the situation again, and then act.
I watched this with my dad when I was fairly young, and I remember thinking that this was why he got chosen; before he even really knew what was going on, he didn’t assume that aliens were dangerous monsters.
It goes even further. The Men in Black IMPLICITLY are pro-non-violent-aliens-living-among-humans.
Therefore Jay taking note of how each one seems menacing but notes the smaller details is exactly what the MiB are looking for. The other candidates fired at every nonhuman looking entity in the simulation.
Look closely and you’ll see the simulation is full of big teeth, dangerous looking aliens doing mundane tasks like crossing the street, preparing for a sneeze, hailing a taxi, getting a hot dog from a vendor.
The Men in Black SPECIFICALLY look for people who are perfect at sorting out what an actual problem is in a crowded situation. Zed must have been beaming on the inside. This man really WAS a perfect candidate.
I love pointing this out: the novelization confirms, yes, he was 100% right in his assessment there
Ok but can we talk about Ella and Lucifer singing acapella at Dan's funeral with the montage of him and Maze finding and killing every last one of Vincent's minions?
That shit was powerful as fuck.
Crazy how Lucifer Season 5b managed to just keep cycling through being hilarious, deep and meaningful, ridiculous and also really sad, often in the same scene. Nice multitasking there. Me starting off the season enjoying the various characters going through the "I'm talking to literal GOD RIGHT NOW" moment and fully freaking out, then getting hit with the deep, complicated feelings between Lucifer and God, and Amenadiel to a lesser extent, feeling both sorry for Dan's various misfortunes and breakdowns while also laughing at them due to it being hilarious. And then, you know, very sad soon after especially with Trixie. I was really glad that there was a meaningful interaction between Ella and God, that was one of the things I was really hoping for. Nice to see that Maze managed to find some happiness instead of being shoved into the role of "villain accomplice" that she has often had previously. Seeing all the other angel siblings was great, and I wish we'd had more of Remiel, though the irony of Zadkiel being Lucifer's biggest detractor and then being the only one to join him and immediately be down with the chaos was quite entertaining. Would have been nice if any of the others actually had a spine though. But yikes, things really spiralled into the dark once the dysfunctional family fun with God was over. Very interested to see what Season 6 will bring.

Apparently there is no such thing as being nice to people on here, huh (rant in the tags)
when u catch urself thinking wistfully about dating and being in love and being c*ddled and how nice that would be
this was the funniest scene in the entire anime and i think you all need to watch it
The instant I saw the thumbnail I was like “I’m ready to watch Kid have a breakdown”
