QJJ spoilers for vol 7
Can't stop thinking about the significance of Lanzhou's dreams about the sinkhole and Ji Mu and him always saying he wants to go with his brother/go home and how the last dream he has while being sick after the big Hassen fight changes.
How for the first time we see Xiao Chiye in that dream, him coming to take Lanzhou away, saying he won't let him go and how that transforms the entire landscape of Lanzhou's dream before finally waking him up only to find himself in Xiao Chiye's arms literally bound to him via their hair.
And if I said Xiao Chiye is the thing that brought Lanzhou back to life, literally and metaphorically what then??
practice lanzhous, ft. meng (i cannot fight the urge to draw them together)
Lanzhou nape

Lanzhou sketch, surprised I haven’t drawn him sooner I mean LOOK AT HIM
Expression studies and design headcanons for cezhou + My thought process if you gaf
For Shen Lanzhou, the main thing I wanted to get right were his eyes... They're always described as smiling (even when he himself isn't) ("can't help having a set of affectionate eyes"), so I tried to capture that in my style. Deep set eyes, long lashes for that extra alluring, huli-jing look LOL. Also I love the swoopy side part that some artists give him- it differentiates him a lot from the other danmei boys (also he wears bows in his hair which is very moe to me) so I tried to play with the shape language of that. Overall I just really wanted him to look pretty, this is the face that ancient chinese men would go to war for Okay? Okay
As for ce'an, I wanted him to look youthful and free spirited while also like a domineering war general... I kinda had a hard time capturing that buuuut I think this is my best attempt @_@. I love love his hair in the eng tl- the swept up hair just works so well, like it got messy from the wind after a day of horse riding. Sharp handsome features for a sharp handsome boy...I am partial to his eyebrows in particular- thick eyebrows just make every character design better man I don't make the rules
“A poltergeist?” The young servant boy blurted in a soft voice and poked his head out, but he did not see anyone to his left and right, so he quickly shrank back and trotted back to his room with his outer garment wrapped tightly around him.
how i love them...
Lanzhou sketch <333
Yin Chang and Fei Sheng doodle that i might clean up at some point
one thing i love about shen zechuan is how often his voice is described as low and/or hoarse. xiao chiye is definitely made out to be the Bigger Manly Top which is fine but even though shen zechuan holds the title of 'best looking man in all of great Zhou' and holds no rival to his beauty he is still written in a way that sidesteps the girlification of bottoms endemic to danmei/BL. and i really appreciate that.
Not sure exactly where this came from (sauce, anyone?), but it seems to be a very well done QJJ fan film.
So… I finally found the time to read the official translation of shangxian/300 years of longing and… Mmmmh…
Let’s say that like many others I’m baffled at some of the translation choices, especially the Latin names. But more than why they used Latin, I'd like to ask why nobody checked the Latin they were publishing!
What do you mean, Arbor Divinus? “Arbor” (tree) is feminine, while “divinus” (divine) is masculine! What’s that, the Divine Tree is gender-confused now?
Even worse with Urbs Caelestia: “urbs” (city) is feminine and singular; “caelestia” (heavenly) is neutral and plural. No words. 🙄
(Surprisingly, Rex Spiritus is actually correct, even though I guess it’s more by chance than anything else.)
It really feels like they just threw random words together and call it a day. No declension at all. It makes no sense. And it shows a lack of care.
It’s a pity, because without these “Latin” names and some other awkward/non-standard terminology the translation would be actually really good.
you don’t know how hard i laughed at this
Чудесные Цэчжоу из новеллы "Поднося Вино". Очень мне нравится результат. Арт стоит вложенных в него сил.
