Hollanov dystopian omegaverse au where omegas can play in the mlh but only if they get sterilized. The league doesn’t want any omega heate or pregnancies getting the way; it doesn’t matter that alphas don’t have to do the same or that ruts also cause disruption.

And omega Shane doesn’t even hesitate to get the procedure done. Hockey is his entire life and he doesn’t even blink over it.

Only a several years later he is married to his wonder husband and he realizes exactly what consequences his decision caused. Because he gets to play hockey, ket Ilya through hockey, but he can never get pregnant, never have biological children. That’s not too bad; Ilya has already talked excitedly about adopting a kid.

What really gets to Shane, however, is that omegas can’t form mating bonds outside of heat. Shane is sterile and doesn’t go through heats, so he’ll never be able to actually bond with his alpha. He’ll never gain notes of Ilya’s scent within his own. He can’t claim and be claimed because the mlh took that from him.

hollanov crack fic where shane needed to get in touch with scott hunter for whatever reason and is expecting a call in the next few days. He's not really thinking about it because he's currently getting fucked stupid in a hotel room by Ilya Rozanov. He is reminded of it when he sees his phone light up on the bedside table out of the corner of his eye. It's on mute so it lighting up is what catches his attention. He's a little out of it, blissed out, so he can't remember why scott hunter would be calling him and he says "hunter--" out loud, right when ilya hit his prostate and it comes out as a moan.

Trying to write the fic for the criminal day and I’ve gotten as far as talking about Shane’s relationship with his own image. Have not yet gotten to the dadson 😂

You know what, actually, shane coming out to his team just after spending the summer with Ilya at the cottage, and they’re being weird about it not outright homophobic but there are vibes, right? And then Halloween is just around the corner and everyone is talking about their costumes and somehow it turns into the team harassing Shane about not wearing one. The team says they’ll get him a costume he just has to show up to the team party.

Shane does, trying to mend things, and they shove him in a guest bedroom with a bag. Shane pulls his costume out and feels many conflicting emotions: they bought a pink Rozanov jersey, black booty shorts and fishnets, and then bedazzled white bunny ears with a matching fluffy tail that can be clipped on.

On one hand, this is humiliating. His team is being homophobic and clearly calling him a puckbunny to hurt him. Worse, they don’t know about his relationship with Ilya, so they’re trying to provoke him by using their rivalry.

On the other hand, Shane has been growing more and more pissed off with how they’ve reacted to his coming out. It’s only been a few months and he misses his boyfriend like a missing limb. Shane doesnt want to play anywhere else, but he supposes if his team wants him out, he might as well do so with a bang.

He puts on the costume, drawing as much confidence as he can from his love for his boyfriend, and then he exits the room, going out to confront his team.

“What?” Shane asks when they stare at him, dumbfounded. “You don’t like my costume?”

Another magical realism au where kids often get dreams of their futures, but often don't remember them the next morning. Little baby Ilyushenka seeing him meeting Shane Hollander for the first time, right outside of the rink before their first prospect cup, and he can't understand what he's saying, but he's the prettiest boy ilyushenka has ever seen! He can recognize himself (magic lol) and he can see that way he watches the boy leave after their interaction. His older self repeats a name and when Ilyushenka wakes up, he feels a little giddy, but doesn't remember anything. Well, except for a name: Shane.

Shane is having a rough time at school, getting bullied for his overall awkward demeanor and his inability to talk to girls. his parents try to comfort him, but he just runs up to his room, trying not to cry. he will be with a billet next year, away from all of the classmates that think he's weird and he can't wait! He falls asleep and is surprised to be in a future dream; he didn't know teenagers could still dream. he is confronted with a hockey locker room; the ottawa centaurs locker room!! Shane stares in amazement at his older self. he put on so much muscle that shane was always worried he wouldn't be able to get or carry. the other players are laughing and teasing shane, but his older self is genuinely laughing back, like he's actually in on the joke. a man comes out of the shower in just a towel and shane's jaw drops just a little at the sight of him. he's blushing as he watches the man approach his older self. he says something that shane doesn't understand, but then his older self replies back in the same language. shane's heart stops when he watches the man reach down to cup older shane's face. humming a little tune as he leans down, before pulling him into a sensual kiss. shane whips around to look at the locker room, but no one seems even slightly bothered. the goalie throws socks at them, tells them to keep their kissing pg there are kids in the locker room. another player tells the goalie to fuck off, he's 20, not a kid. the man pulls away from shane and laughs, speaking english with a russian accent "you are team baby, luca" others start to throw out chirps as well, all good natured, and shane watches his older self smile happily, his hand coming up to rest gently on the other man's bare back. shane wakes up not remember anything, only feeling a lot more settled after the day he just had. he even hums to himself, though he doesn't quite remember where he heard the tune. he asks jessica out a year later, something about her blonde curly hair catching shane's attention.

Me thinking about a comment someone left on one of my fics: okay but contractual obligations au where Shane and Ilya are both alphas, fitting more closely to canon. But instead of rose causing tension, a new omega acquisition in Montreal has Shane under pressure to take the bond on. Both him and Ilya have avoided doing so so far in their careers. Plenty of alphas bond for professional reasons while still having a life outside of their team omega, but Shane feels weird about bonding and then going to get fucked by another alpha. Tuna melt happens in the middle of all this and Shane runs. Montreal is getting antsy, wanting Shane to bond with the omega as soon as possible. He agrees finally, not seeing a way out. They want him as captain to do it not any of his probably more willing teammates. Shane feels sick the week leading up to the bonding, growing physically ill at the thought of bonding with anyone who wasn’t his alpha the omega. Shane doesn’t even get to know who it is until he walks into the appointment and meets them. Shane has to wrack his brain before realizing they’re a forward that played in the west. They seem indifferent to him, obviously familiar with the entire bonding process, while Shane feels like he’s going to fall apart. They get to the portion where he needs to scent the omega and Shane has to fight full body shivers as he does so. The omega looks at him weirdly the entire time. Even asks Shane if he’s okay. Shane isn’t. He gets told to bite the omega to start the process and Shane is fighting tears at this point, close to hyperventilating as he leans forward to do what has been requested of him. Then something odd happens.

True mate bonds are not very understood in this day and age. Most believe them fiction created and perpetuated by less knowledgeable people from hundreds of years ago. But they’re very real. And there’s a term that historical records often used when a true mate bond was threatened: The Refusal

(Basically, Shane and Ilya have been hooking up for long enough that their latent true mate bond has been working in secret, changing them biologically without them being any the wiser. Even without a bite to complete the bond, it has become a part of their instinctual understanding of their inner alphas; so, when that incomplete bond is threatened, the alpha will do what it must to keep their mate by their side. It will enter into a feral state, triggered by The Refusal, and it will do what it must to get away from the perceived threat and to their destined mate.)

Shane goes from dread to rage in seconds flat and he runs like his life depends on it. Because it does; his mate is his life and he needs to get to his alpha as soon as possible. Their bond has gone unfinished for long enough; the second he finds Ilya, he’s burying his teeth into his neck and he’s not above whining and begging to get his alpha to return the gesture.

I love fics where Shane joins the cens without hollanov being outed and they try to get them together/get along, but alternatively: they don’t want them fighting/they think the friendship is PR, so they keep them separated as much as possible lol
