My favorite meme by the way
I regret not drawing Tamlin's sleeping cap. But I did draw Rhysand in curlers.

Azriel and Elain from ACoTaR, because I’m a sucker for ships that have Hades/Persephone vibes.

Katherine Arden, The Winter of the Witch
🖤 The complete set 🖤
IDK about you, but I was super pissed with Aelin in KoA. Although the trauma was well-depicted, it wasn't as good as in ACOMAF and her sassy scenes seemed really strange. Also pissed about Yrene destroying a certain someone after building up to a clash between Aelin and Erawan. I love Yrene, but she was a character introduced just in ToD. Also, Something about Yrene destroying *spoiler* while pregnant felt like SJM had done a self-insert of herself, which makes me very uneasy. Just my opinion.
I think that part of why her sassiness was lower and felt off was because she was essentially faking it to cover up her trauma. That’s pretty explicit in the text, and the old Aelin is pretty much…not there anymore. She survives, but its with the burden of that trauma, which she will have forever. She learns to manage it and how to cope, and how to be happy despite it, but SJM depicts the way trauma continues to impact us even after we heal very authentically. So…I can’t really be annoyed? Like I missed Aelin in KoA, but I also wouldn’t enjoy SJM having Aelin recover easily and be her old self. She committed to the plot and the character arc and I respect that.
I don’t think that Erawan and Aelin was ever really building to a big show down? Dorian and Erawan- yeah, and that happened. But Aelin’s more direct enemies were always the King of Adarlan and Maeve. So it makes sense that Yrene and Dorian take down Erawan
I love Yrene, and think it’s really important that we see a healer, a refugee, and a woman of color defeat one of the world’s biggest evils. It really solidifies the message that it takes more than one woman to win, and that helping one another as Aelin helps Yrene in the assassin and the healer (Yrene is introduced in the first book) can change the world. Small kindness = big impact.
I mean idk, SJM likes kids and wants to write about them. Why shouldn’t she want to see a pregnant lady kick ass and destroy erawan? i don’t have an issue with self insert because most of it came about because women and minorities weren’t seeing themselves represented. So. Whatever!
Something about Yrene being the one to take down Erawan also shows that you don’t have to be extraordinary to make a difference. Sure Yrene has healing powers, but she is nowhere near the power levels of Aelin or the other fae. I read about her defeat of Erawan and think “hey, I could do that too. I could make a difference in the real world and tackle injustices.”
I don’t get that as much with Aelin because she is so incredibly powerful, so her successes tend to be interpreted as being more of a result of her supernatural power. I’m not saying that I think she should be less powerful or receive any less focus from the narrative (after all she is the main character) but Erawan wasn’t hers to defeat.
Yrene is just a relatively ordinary pregnant woman of colour. A refugee. The fact that she was the one to take down one of the greatest threats is incredibly significant and taking that away would completely change the message of the series.
i LOVE this analysis!
Very quick Celaena painting to relax after midterms. Now to finish an essay!

A new decade brings new possibilities and opportunities. Rarely do the stars align so perfectly. Even the moon sings of great triumphs in the new years. You are not alone, you are brave, you will be free at last. Overcome your fears. Understand that there is no going back, only forward. Obliterate all thoughts of a negative self image. Keep these things in mind, and you will prosper. A bright spark for a bright girl. You have so much love to give, and this is your decade, so own it. -AL
thank you. i have no clue who this is, but thank you.

SJM Book Fancasts
Here are my official fancasts for Queen Sarah J. Maas’s characters! Let me know what you guys think 😊
ToG
Taylor Swift/Scarlett Leithold as Aelin
Chris Wood as Chaol
Timothee Chalamet as Dorian (he’s just so handsome I can’t 😍🙈)
Sam Heughan/Henry Cavill as Rowan (I can’t decide. SJM said that Sam is her choice so we have to go with what cannon says but Henry is literally perfect with that white hair)
Cody Fern as Aedion
Alexandria Daddario as Lysandra
Derek Theler as Lorcan (my baby angel 🥰)
Adelaide Kane as Elide
Part 2 coming soon 😉
Part 2!!!
Sasha Luss as Manon (she looks so mean in this pic lol. But she’ll look regal as the future queen of Adarlan 😉)
Chloe Grace Moretz as Asterin
Zendaya as Nehemia
EDIT: okay since so many of you were complaining that Zendaya isn’t “dark enough” 🙄 (like srsly guys why does it even matter ugh) I decided to recast her with Lupita Nyongo
Selena Gomez as Nesryn
Madelaine Petsch as Ansel
Christopher Mason as Fenrys
Alycia Debnam Carey as Yrene (the hair literally matches in this pic! 😍)
KJ Apa as Sam (I miss my baby 😢)
EDIT: (oops I forgot about sorscha lol) Camilla Mendes as Sorscha

ACOTAR EDITION!!!
Who else is excited!
Barbara Palvin as Feyre
Ian Somerhalder as Rhysand (he’s literally so perfect 😍)
Alycia Debnam Carey/Phoebe Tonkin as Nesta I know I already cast Alycia as Yrene but she’s just so perfect for Nesta)
Theo James as Cassian (my baby boy did nothing wrong and I luv him so much!!! Also can you imagine this Cassian with this Nesta? OTP!)
Lily Rose Depp as Elain (precious flower baby 😊)
Gryphon O'Shea as Lucien (Having Lucien be Helion’s son was so bad tho ugh 🙄 everyone was yelling at Sarah J. Maas to include more “diversity” so then she had to ruin one of my fav characters 😠 )
Cole Sprouse as Azriel
Lili Reinhart as Mor (Can you imagine Lili and Cole together as Moriel?! My fave ship! Also I think it was so stupid of Sarah to make Mor gay. And I know when people talk about homophobics they don’t mean me but I still have a right to be upset about my fav ship being ruined!!!)
Jenna Coleman as Amren
And that’s it folks! Let me know if there are any other characters you guys would like me to fancast. I’m actually super proud of these and I can’t wait to see what you guys think!
A comment I got on Ordinary. On the first chapter.
If a writing style is unpleasant to read, don't read that person's work. I have heard nothing but positive feedback and constructive criticism from friends and people in my class. This, however, feels like correcting me and then bashing my story and my style of writing. If you don't have constructive criticism to give, or anything nice to say, don't comment.
If a writing style, trope, cliche, etc is overused and unpleasant to read in your eyes. Don't read it.
Ordinary may be a cliche story, but this comment appeared on chapter one. One. Not the last chapter. This either shows they didn't bother to read any further or they did and went back to chapter one.
I thanked them on correcting my drunk/drank error but English is not my first language. I will make grammar mistakes. I also told them to not read my stories if it's unpleasant to read them due to my style. Everyone has their own style.
After WEEKS, the responded to my comment. And they still sound rude. I haven't been active on AO3 in months. I haven't posted in months until Ordinary. But this... This is just rude.
i will NEVER understand people like this. out of all the things they could do with their time, they decided to tear a stranger down over the internet.
they’re entirely wrong: i’m a native english speaker and i mess up on grammar sometimes. not having english as your first language is a perfectly acceptable reason to be messing up on things. english is a very difficult language and it’s incredible that you speak it as well as you do!!!
and as for your writing in general: please don’t ever think you’re not good enough bc some ass over the internet targeted you. that has nothing to do with your writing and everything to do with them. keep up your awesome writing and don’t let them bring you down! they’re not worth it. your fics are wonderful and we’re so blessed that you share them with us. thank you! 💙
