itโs basically one big info dump rn but it exists in a functional form & at 11:30 pm this fine Wednesday I am ready to rumble!! Javert & other classic lit faves will be found there for the foreseeable future.

Well, if drunk she at least wasnโt the sort to cause trouble, which Javert appreciated slightly. Only slightly. His eyes narrowed again, less suspicious for now than simply puzzled. Napoleon was old news. He cast a long shadow still, but why she should bring him up...

After so long in this job, Javert was no stranger to strong language, tangential or directed his way from reluctant witnesses and malefactors. Even so this seemed excessive for an innocentโ at the very least this man knew something. The outburst wouldnโt have its desired effect. Instead Javert settled in for the long haul, leaning his elbows against the flat surface. It brought him closer to his target and also put him at eye level, which meant he could fix his stare without putting a crick in his neck.
โNo thanks, I only do that for people I like,โ he quipped back.ย โNow if you didnโt have anything to do with it, why wonโt you tell me where you were?โ

Sharing a bed in the most literal sense wasnโt ubiquitous when both parties prized their independence. It was however a welcome occasion when Javert raised his head and caught her familiar scent. He twisted to face her, resisting annoyance at the bedcovers which were only doing their job. โYou couldnโt sleep?โ He didnโt want to merely accept it as the natural course if it wasnโt. And if it was... heโd deal with that accordingly.

Apologies for the delayโ moving, whether itโs houses or blogs, is a lot of work! I am working on it though. The new digs should be ready within a couple of days (although this weekend looks super busy so thatโs only an estimate). For now Iโm not following back here but new followers are welcome to migrate when the time comes.

Heโd never lie or even hide who he was, but he might have neglected to mention what he did for a living. Just for a while. If this girl was who he thought, he wanted to see if he could get the truth. Of course it might yield no fruits anyway. The man he knew was no fool. He probably wouldnโt risk telling her anything... unless his conscience got too itchy. โBecause I knew your mother.โ

She didnโt ask; he didnโt object. Such was their new status that they could go about in the eyes of others hand in hand. When sheโd proposed and he accepted, Javert hadnโt considered all these smaller benefits, less momentous perhaps than some but equally pleasant. No one could chide him for being indecent. He could, and did, walk with head held high. There was no need to say anything. An ease had grown up between them despite their different natures; it had led them here. If his gaze strayed more often to her than to their surroundings, well, that was only to be expected. With her uncleโs consent she was now his fiancรฉe.

โYes.โ He didnโt elaborate immediately, an inner struggle clearly visible in his expression. Heโd never confronted this, not to such a degree. Some would flirt for advantage, some as a joke. She seemed... at least partway earnest. Javert abruptly broke the spell before the silence grew too wide. โI mean, yes, itโs wrong. Hereโs my lips saying โno.โ also. I donโt accept bribes.โ
Unlike Javert I can lie, and not just to myself! Remember when I said I wasnโt going to move blogs? Well, Iโm maybe rethinking that. The sideblog is annoying & a distinction without a difference at this point; it feels cluttered (here more than the side); Tumblr forgot all my tags so I canโt even find anything. Since I have to redo tags here and decided to on the multi too, it feels like good timing.
I will update if/when itโs official, just needed to confess. Iโm indecisive.
