    “ Do you believe that everything happens for a reason ? “ clarissa inquired, her brows furrowing as she sat at the booth closed case files she had ‘borrowed’ from her uncle’s file cabinet. “ I’ve read so many of these things that people confess to doing things because they were bored. That’s it, they weren’t robbing things cause they needed it just because they were bored.” it irked her the guts that some people had to rob small shop owners because they were tired of their life. groaning in frustration the blonde gave a defeated sigh before reaching for her mug. “ I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to go off on a rant.” rissa apologized with a small smile. “ I get carried away at times– I ‘suppose.”

‘ it’s an exhilarating feeling to have when you’re bored — can’t say that i don’t understand them in this point of view. ’ LEVI shrugs with his answer, body leant over hers as his eyes skim over the seemingly endless files at her disposal. ‘ you know stealing these is breakingf federal law, right? ’

‘ this is straight up the world’s worst coffee. ’ CHRYS mumbles under his breath, nose scrunching in mild disgust as the liquid slides down his throat. ‘ please tell me there is a better coffee shop around. ’

☆ ⁛ ⁚ ⁛   the moment he felt chilly fingers grazing his cheeks, he shivered shamefully as his eyes fell straight to the ground. he bit his lower lip while his pupils gradually elevated, his mind repeated one word— happy. “ even when you were with me? ” he fumbled. he didn’t think before he blurted that out so he found himself avoiding levi’s eyes once again, a dusty red slowly erupted from his cheeks.

‘ OH, baby. ’ LEVI sighs softly at his boyfriend, fingers repeatedly brushing over his skin. there’s no hesitation when he speaks to him like he would to a child, eyes carefully scanning over his face. ‘ this is a different kind of happy, baby. think —— drugs. i feel like i’m high out of my mind with happiness right now. ’ he avoids the general question directed at him, yet hopeful that it’s enough to satisfy emerson. his lips fall on his forehead not a long time after, leaving a linger kiss there.

LEVI only rolled his eyes as a response, raising his cup up to his face. it was enough to hide his obvious grin that faded almost instantly to portray an expression of pretend grief, eyebrows raising in astonishment to keep up the facade. ‘ so i heard. such a terrible accident, really. ’

☆ ⁛ ⁚ ⁛   after all this, emerson still had a glint of hope that levi had a bit of heart and understood what he actually did. causing the whole town to mourn over his actions would surely change his perspective, right? he shook his head in disbelief. he just didn’t see a monster, he saw something more — something gentle. call him a fool but he knows he’ll feel regretful any moment now. his hands slither upwards on his back and gave his shoulder a brief squeeze. this was getting dangerous. he pulled back a bit and looked deeply into levi’s deep set eyes. “ i just… don’t understand what’s going on in your mind. what were thinking? ”

when the other retreated from his hold, LEVI used the gap between them to slide one of his hands from around his torso to rest atop of his cheek, fingers spreading across the soft skin to caress the other. ‘ what don’t you understand? ’ he questioned with honest curiosity, eyes scanning emerson’s face intently. ‘ i’ve never been this happy in life. ’ the male admitted, eyebrows raising on his face and his grin not fading.

she hardly even considers her words before looking the man up and down and laughing a bit —– “ you look it. smell it too. i’m guessing that’s coffee ? hope you’re drinking it black because you’ll need that shit dark to get rid of whatever the hell you drank last night. ”

‘ bitter and black, just like my soul. ’ he rides that statement as a joke, nothing more — a joke that most millennial teenagers have made at least once in their life. but to that statement there is a tinge of truth, not like he’s about to open his mouth about it now.

faith was trying her hardest to keep her mouth shut and not make a snarky comment to the guy next to her, particularly about his smell. once he started speaking, her eyebrows furrowed and a scoff left her lips. “i was beginning to think you just didn’t know what a shower is.”

‘ excuse me, have you never had a hangover in your life? ’ the statement was in no way meant to be a snap towards the other, and the grin on his features making it more than obvious. he wasn’t well aware that the dried stain of vodka on his pants and his own bo was enough to get people to notice.

☆ ⁛ ⁚ ⁛   he jumped a bit from the unexpected but familiar touch of his boyfriend. he didn’t know whether or not having him by his side was what he needed but he was in desperate need of somebody. even if that somebody was what caused him to be this way. yet, when he turned around, he looked at the latter in blatant astonishment. “ how could i relax? you know what you did. ” he whispered sharply in shire panic before his body eased into his whisper. for a moment, emerson considered it but he was such in an emotional state right now that just imagining it left him even more confused. although, he should be fairly afraid, he wrapped his arms around the taller’s neck and pulled him into a soft embrace. “ why? ” he breathed mellowly.

‘ oh, i very well know what i did. ’ his expression didn’t falter for a moment, a bright grin etched into his features. there was a constant wonder in his mind WHY emerson failed to understand how happy his actions made LEVI — he was booming every moment of the day, ever since the halloween accident. he responded to the gesture, wedging himself between emerson’s legs as he slid his hands around his torso, pulling him into his body. ‘ you’re so cute, being all worked up about this. ’

☆ ⁛ ⁚ ⁛  with dark shadows under his eyes, emerson typed on the laptop slowly before dozing off again in study hall. carlson’s death was the topic of everyone’s conversation and, despite his efforts, he couldn’t ignore them. as if he wasn’t already guilty enough for aiding levi but now he had to deal with the memories when somebody brings it up. the whole ordeal sent him into a frenzy consisting of uncontrollable tears and isolation, more so than ever before. as he huffed and slammed his laptop shut, he strolled to the exit. as soon as he did so, he plopped his body on a bench nearby and sighed loudly. “ what if- ” he mumbled longingly.

there’s no hesitation when he approaches, not even for a moment when his hands land on the shoulders of his boyfriend, pressing against his body from behind. he wasn’t blind — and he could see how much the accident was affecting emerson, yet any remorse he might have had was lost somewhere deep inside his brain, hiding behind the excitement and never ending rush of adrenaline he was feeling ever since he mercilessly shoved the other man into the open fire. ‘ you need to relax a little — ’ mumbled LEVI upon bending down to be just above emerson’s ear. ‘ i can help you with that. ’

“Someone looks like shit.” brows arched as she took a seat adjacent to his. “This was my lunch but I feel you may need it more than I do…” she added, lips stretched as she set a paper bag on the table. “Crowfeld greasiest bacon cheese burger with fried onion, don’t say I never gave you anything now.” 

‘ wow, princess. that’s exactly what i want to hear right now — ’ the male exclaims with a roll of his eyes, staring right ahead at his ex girlfriend. ‘ and you look as beautiful and charming as any other day. ’ LEVI can’t help but add, a small smirk growing on his features. he stares at the paper bag for a bare moment, before shaking his head. ‘ i’m not about to strip you of your lunch. plus, i need to watch this god like figure of mine, and grease is no help in that department. ’

there’s a hangover lingering in his system, and there’s no way he could deny it — bags under his eyes and an obvious stench of beer reeking from his body. LEVI brings his paper cup of coffee up to his lips, takes an overly obnoxious sip from it — all before opening his mouth. ‘ i think i’m still drunk. ’
