They had come. He could feel thier influence on the world around him and he watched the sand swirl and intercept his movements. ‘Who? Who did it connect to?’. His mind flashed to them, reading through the mind of each of his friends, Amelia was the most worried. She was assuming the worst, coming up with too many ideas. It had connected to her and was building itself around her. He had to fight! He couldn’t have the world build itself off of her, who’s mind was racing to all the things that could be happening to him. 'No! Don’t think like that! I’ll be okay if you don’t think like that!’ But he couldn’t say it, he never could. So the world, for the first time, built itself around him, trapping him in a prison of dark sand, swirling around him.
They found him at the centre of the sandstorm. Trapped by the sands a force of energy swirling around him. “We have to get him out! We can’t just leave him like this forever!”
His heart sank, as he mentally tried to break the rules that governed his existance. He needed them to leave, to relax, to try ANYTHING ELSE. Hadn’t he warned them? He didn’t want to have to watch them die. He had to try. He pushed his hand through the darkness, crackling the energy around him, trying to get through to them. Everything swirled faster as he tried to switch the mind the world had connected to. 'Build off someone else!’ If he could find someone ….
“He’s moving!”
“Patrick! We’re here to bring you home!”
He had to … say something, he had too, but his own form was forced to adhere to thier own fears. He spoke, pushing his hand forward. If he could connect it to Da'h'arcy, he could save them, it would calm down at least enough. She always had hope.
“I told you.” His voice crackled as the world around him broke, it hurt. It hurt so much. “I’m not worth your lives.”
He pushed, sending spirals of pain jolting through his body, connecting the mind, connecting to Da'h'arcy. He screamed as he felt reality warp. It worked but … at what cost? He felt himself losing consciousness as his friends surged forward to fight the sands. To fight the world.
