Will’s eyes don’t look up to meet Negan , he doesn’t expect much of what he said , or of Negan. Graham lived his life in & out of nightmares , now there was no waking. His breath shakes , fingers twitch at his side where he’d formerlly often found the comfort of his dogs , & his eyes finally glance to the place between Negan’s eyes , feigning eye contact.
“ Those aren’t monsters , ” He couldn’t blame animals for being animals , they existed outside of a human consience. “ They’re animals ... maybe something less ... they don’t think about what they do. ”
* Eyes have made Will uneasy his entire life , but the feelings of distaste for eye contact were worsened when he found himself hyperfocusing on a collection of dolls inside the window of a store he frequented as a child. Because of this , blue eyes are also the most unnerving to Will.
* Will rarely makes actual eye contact with those who he talks to. Rather , he will focus just above their eyes or at the bridge of their nose / between their eyes. This allows him to ( most times ) pass it off as eye contact , and avoid questions of why he won’t look at others when they speak.
* When he does actively make eye contact , it is either in anger or when he completely trusts someone.

Graham offers a small flash of a smile to the other -- for the other man’s sake more than his own , assurance he hadn’t needed to apologize. He was used to it by now , comments about what was seen on the news , or read in papers. “ There’s more that could have been done, ” The dreary comment slips , and Will glances about the shop before his eyes fall in the direction of the blond , quick to change the subject now “ Do you have any ... fly tying equipment here ? ”

& LISA
“ Good . I don’t like runners , ” Lisa teases , her words just a good natured tease as she leads the way inside . Lucky for Will Graham , this place isn’t where she had once been employed as a bartender and dancer . The Liquid Kitty was no place to just get a drink and get to know a stranger , unless getting to know a new face in town in the company of topless women was one’s style . No . Gwendolyn's Bar was the perfect little bar to just get to know someone new without any real distractions .
Stepping up to the bar , Lisa offered a smile to Gwen’s sister who tended to the bar before she took her seat . Yet a smile was not returned by the woman . With a turn to Will , Lisa shakes her head before leaning in to whisper her confusion , “ I wonder what’s up with her . She’s usually a lot nicer . ”
Looking around , Lisa could feel that even the air within the bar’s atmosphere felt off . The music played as it always had , but the people around them weren’t usually their chipper selves . Not one person threw curses at the football game playing on the overhead television and those that made a few extra bucks at the pool table weren’t bragging about their skills . Something was , indeed , off .
“ I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone right now , ” she admits to Will , hoping that maybe he can sense the strangeness of a bar full of people that weren’t acting as if they were enjoying themselves . “ It’s usually not like this . ”
The pleasantness of the scents of whiskey & cigarettes , is far from reflected in the atomosphere of the bar. The air is sticky , heavy with paranoia & mistrust. His own new face he doubts is welcomed by those who shift in their uneasy silence. With Lisa’s words it becomes increasingly evident just how far out of the news cycle the woman was ... and as much as Will found comfort in her unknowing , he wasn’t certain how right it was for him to pretend he didn’t know why the bar had shifted its usual tone.
“ I can’t say I blame her , ” Graham admitted , his gaze shifted briefly to the bartop to take in the scratches & scuffs left in the wood. Only a moment before he looked back at Lisa -- though it’d look as though he was meeting her eyes , Graham instead was focused on a spot between them or just above. It was rare that Will actually looked someone in the eye , but he’d mastered the art of prtending.
He clears his throat , glancing towards the bar tender then -- the woman who supposedly had a usually friendly demenour. He’s glad he doesn’t recognize her from the family photos Jack had brought. “ Whiskey , neat , please ” He murmurs when he has her attention “ And whatever Lisa will be having. ”
The look he gives Lisa after is almost apologetic. He knows he must have seemed rude , and he knew he hadn’t meant to. “ ... If you have questions , ” It’s started , and paused for a brief moment. She hadn’t watched the news , she was the only soul there who didn’t know. Did she deserve to , or did she deserve the continued bliss of ignorance ? “ If you have questions , I’ll answer what I can. ”

& LISA
“ Nothing for you to be sorry about , ” Lisa assured him . “ It’s life . You gotta roll with the punches , my momma used to tell me . ”
While Lisa had hated her ex husband for his petty acts of anger during their custody battle , she had with time learned how to deal with the results . For her kids’ , Lisa was going to be the bigger person & not hate their father forever – though , she never allowed herself to accept his many apologies in the years since their divorce out of the anger she couldn’t release . All facts that she wasn’t going to burden her new found acquaintance with .
“ I’m Lisa Andrews , ” she answered , a curve of a smile spread upon her lips , remaining ever ignorant to who he was . Even if she had knowledge of such a strange case about a cannibalistic doctor – which she did recall the case being the top news story for weeks – his name was not remembered . Will Graham was just a Will Graham , just a man with mousy brown hair & glasses; he was a man that she was getting a drink with at the closest bar . It had been a spur of the moment offer , but she was happy he had accepted . It wasn’t every day that she found a charming curiosity for a newcomer to Piddling .
“ Here we are , ” Lisa stood before the bar’s entrance where the constant thump of country music could be heard playing from the stereo . “ Last chance to turn tail & run away . ”
There’s relief with her introduction , one that didn’t come with the tone of walking on eggshells that was taken by those who knew his name but didn’t want to brave asking questions. Lisa Andrews’ smile is met by one of Graham’s own -- small , but genuine , just enough to bring a flicker of light to the blue-green eyes set behind small panes of glass. “ Well , Lisa Andrews , I think your mother had good advice. ”
The thumping of music makes Graham wonder when the last time he’d been to a proper bar had been. More often than not , he avoided social situations like this -- the noise of it all hadn’t appealed to him even in his younger years. But there was still something that felt sad about drinking alone in motel rooms and quiet cabins , even for him. He might quote The Piano Man to justify it all.
“ I don’t usually find myself running , even when I should , ” It’s spoken lighthearted , a soft look settled over the nerves that’re still alight for the unease he has over the crowd bound to be inside. None the less Will reaches for the door to pull it open for Lisa , the music pouring out in a heavy wave with the smell of cigarettes and alcohol. Just enough of it all to border pleasant instead of nausiating , he notes. “ After you ? ”
& TRACY
feet moved to stand near him, looking at the files scattering the table in front of him. ’ i wouldn’t dig into that - mr. graham. ’ she knew about sylar, what he had done, his threat as a person. but she had heard rumors he had changed for the better. then again that didn’t stop what he had done and police from looking in the case to catch him. after all he had sliced people’s heads open. ’ it is best to close that file, and walk away from it. ’
“ Would you close it ... walk away ? ” It was a fault of Graham’s , as much as he no longer wanted to look , he had to if he knew he may be saving lives. If he walked away , every new body would be blood on his hands. He wouldn’t sleep at night with that fact curled up comfortably beside him on the pillow. He’s glad , for once , that Jack had not been there beside him. Jack’s bullheaded approach to things he doubted would go well with Ms.Strauss. “ Your name won’t be involved ... but I need to know what you know. ”
* Quick Notes:
These things aren’t really noted in my rules, they’ll be added but I want to make a quick post about it.
My main verse lays in a sort of sweet spot between the capture of Dr Lecter & the start of the events of Red Dragon. So, typically speaking, Will is known as the person who collared Lecter, etc etc.
Though I am somewhat influenced by the NBC verse -- as is stated in my rules, I don’t really take anything passed season 1 and the first half of season 2. I do not agree with the route that was taken in the relationship between Dr Lecter & Will, and I do not ship the pair.
