Ana furrowed her brow as she contemplated the concept proposed by the Hydromancer. After a few moments of silent pondering of logistics, “I believe I do.” She breathed, a small smile formed on her lips with bright eyes filled with excitement. “I think it’d help with the distinguishing factor. Kind of like.. training wheels, per say.” She chuckled lightly. With a deep inhale, she straightened her posture. “I’m ready whenever you are.”
Fey was more than excited to see how this worked. Although she wasn’t deep into a game with Ana yet, she was thoroughly enjoying the science behind the magic and she sat up straighter, preparing to put her words into action.
Hands up toward the air, Fey closed her eyes and felt for the water around her. She focused on sending energy into the air to jolt the vapor, causing enough vibration for it to feel like the softest, warm breeze coming off the lake.
isaiah--jones:
His gaze sharpened, his hard stare fixed on her. He knew what she was going to say. Perhaps him asking too many questions was alarming whoever was doing this, but really, he was restless. He couldn’t just not know anything.
But hadn’t anyone, at all, seen anything? He wonders how much more restless those who lost family or close friends because of this disappearances would have been.
“You don’t know that. Maybe I can do something. I want to try.”
Fey had to try not to gag at his ambition. She could never understand those people that were willing to get themselves into all kinds of trouble without any idea whether or not they will have an impact on the future. This “well-intended” self-importance meant nothing to her.
“Yeah, well good luck with that hero complex when you wind up dead, too. I’ll be sure to mention this idiocy at your funeral,” she answered with the heaviest coating of sarcasm.
xlecompasx:
❝I guess the weather was a lame give away huh?❞ Gen really hoped the other wouldn’t blow her poorly constructed cover. ❝Is there any chance we could just pretend I belong?❞ She chuckled with a hint of nervousness.
“That’s an understatement.” But Fey really didn’t care enough about it to make a big deal, so she just lay back where she sat and shrugged.
“You’re fine. I’m not going to do anything about it. Just relax and enjoy.”
isaiah--jones:
Isaiah knew it was pretty fucked up, because he had seen it. But unlike her, he had every desire to know what happened. He didn’t really lose anyone, but he had always regarded this school as the safest place for people like them. Even convinced his best friend to stay here even when they wanted to leave for so many times.
“Yes, it know was a murder,” he said, before glancing up. He wanted to say he’d seen her body getting pulled out of the water, but he bit it back, choosing to say something else. “But no one seems to know anything, or hear anything about how it happened, and it’s just…frustrating.”
He knew what she was suggesting. It was probably dangerous. But really, with how things are, it doesn’t seem like anyone’s safe anyway.
“Yeah, well better frustrated than...”
She didn’t even want to say it allowed. She was really trying to know as little about this thing as possible, for her own sake. But he was right. It was frustrating.
No information. No idea how to stay safe. No idea who was at risk. No idea where the danger was even coming from... Whoever was doing all of this was far more sadistic than her on even her worst days.
“It’s not like you can do anything about it anyway,” she told him, although part of her was trying to console herself more than him.
isaiah--jones:
Isaiah regarded her for two seconds, blinking once, before he repeated his question.
“I asked, if… if you heard anything, about what happened to the girl who was found on the lake. Melantha Frost?” He held her eyes, waiting for a reaction. He could sense she recognized the name. Isaiah had this desperate need to know. He had been training for more than a third of his life in this university, four years of which were dedicated solely to his specialization - healing, and yet he couldn’t figure it out. Was it a curse? Powerful dark curse? Maybe it was as simple as a potion? But he didn’t think any simple potion could have done this. “Maybe you heard something about it, because I don’t think the officials has said anything,” he went on. He wondered if his frustration about not knowing showed. He didn’t even know of the girl until she went missing, but this news of her set him on edge. Isaiah had always believed this school was their safe haven, but now he wasn’t so sure.
He had to be crazy if he was asking these kinds of questions allowed. Fey heard it was pretty fucked up the way they found her, but she had no desire to go digging. She actually valued her life, and in no way wanted to experience whatever Melantha had gone through.
“Yeah, I don’t think anyone has heard anything. And if I were you I wouldn’t go asking questions like that out here in the open. You do realize it was a fucking murder, right?”
isaiah--jones:
It’s been quite some time since they all found Melantha Frost’s body in the lake. It was all hushed, as the officials of the school were still mum about what is going on. Even his father, the professor of Ancient Magic and Language, was telling him nothing. Isaiah grew increasingly frustrated, his books lying around him as he attempts to find out what could have happened to her. He was already checking so many old texts, containing many different curses, but he found nothing with effects that match what he had seen before, on that day.
He looked up at the person walking past, and stole himself to ask them the question that’s been burning through his mind. He was hesitating, but quickly decided that he really needed to know. Before the person could get any farther, he called after them, “Hey, sorry, but have you heard anything about the girl they found on the lake, Melantha Frost?”
Fey stopped dead in her tracks when she heard that name. She hadn’t even been paying attention to the rest, his question jumbled in with the rest of the world’s noise, distant from her busy thoughts, so all she heard was Melantha Frost echoing in her ears.
She had been trying her best not to think about that situation. Luckily, she had left before the mess that day, but it still got under her skin to think about how that girl might have died. She was keeping herself pretty preoccupied with schoolwork instead. She was hoping to head back to her room and bury herself in a good book... But that name.
As she turned to face the guy who spoke, she tried to keep her expression empty of the fear that had rushed through her, instead forcing herself to focus on confusion.
“Sorry, what did you say?”

Daniel licked his lips and glanced at the girl. He knew that the type of things she was interested in might not be what Daniel was interested in. But ever since he came to the university, he was trying to belong somewhere. He was trying to make friends. “I think… that would be fun.” He smiled at her. “I know I need to get out more… I just don’t really know how to go about doing it. And I’ve never been to a party so… seems like fun.”
If it wasn’t for that incredible affinity this boy had, this would have almost been too easy to entertain her. But she had a feeling things were going to get much more interesting.
Smiling still, Fey reached into her bag and dug out her phone, unlocking the screen and handing it over to him. “Give me your number and I’ll let you know the next time I’m going out.”
