someday i’ll get to see more of the world, and all of its beauty.
devontheshield:
Devon was lounging back, enjoying what little time he had left of the summer months, really soaking it all in. In fact, he had been so used to the rainy weather, that being outside now was the best treat he could ask for. As he laid in the grass while the sun seemed to be close to setting, he closed his eyes for a bit, trying to meditate his racing thoughts, but he couldn’t seem to find anything to hold on to, and instead found himself worrying about every little bit of schooling. His eyes quickly opened when he heard footsteps approaching, as he looked towards the other with a blank expression. “I was just… gathering my things out here—is it time to go inside?” He had always been so used to curfews.
Isaiah was on his way to his dorm, when he found the familiar figure of Devon Saunders, one of Gene’s classmates. He quickly strode over to him, and in a soft voice, replied, “Yes, it’s time to get in, we should go.” Isaiah worries about everyone these days, especially at these dangerous times. “Devon, yeah?” he asked, asking to confirm if he remembered the name right.

Amberly smiled as she looked at the stones again. Oh she couldn’t wait to try these out. Maybe she could even perfect her aim? The lightning had been wilder than usual as of late…. “Oh I’m sure you’ll know if it does.” Amberly laughed, “Perhaps I’ll make a blizzard in July just for you.”
“Of course you have to let me know how it goes, if it does help,” he said. He believed they work for him, but he’d have to see how it fares with her using it. “If it does work, it would be really good, lightning strikes are a powerful weapon.” He considered, and laughed a little, a small smile on his face. “Just for me?”
thelovely-maidenfair:
“H-house Aster. I heard they have people with terrifying abilities. Um, they usually focus on energy and life right? P-perhaps one of them may be able t-to bring back the dead. At least for a moment. So we do have one witness, even- even if she’s hard to talk to.” Sofia wasn’t going to degrade the girl further by calling her an it. No she was still a girl even- even if she was dead now. “B-but then again I only read about it in books. Sorry.” It came out as a whisper. Completely unhelpful Sofia. Wasn’t she. Perhaps it was better if she hadn’t said anything at all.
At her suggestion, he looked up, thoughtful. “That’s... I haven’t thought of that,” he admitted. “I suppose I could get someone to do it, and I don’t think it would break any rules,” he said, though he’s not certain. The ideas are now floating around inside his head, making him hopeful. This was one solution he hasn’t explored yet.
“Except, I don’t know where Melantha’s body is, and if I did, would her family would allow her to be brought back?” he wondered aloud, and then turned to her, “What do you think?”
poppy-mason:
Poppy paused, pursing her lips. It was definitely time to intercede and help her friend. Isaiah seemed to be eating himself alive recently, not only with classes, but with what happened at the lake. She herself was looking for ways to investigate, but now certainly wasn’t the time for that. What he needed right now was some TLC.
“I may not be able to help you study for potions, but how would you feel about an introductory meditation session? I think clearing your mind might do you some good.”
He let out a sigh, and soon a grateful smile showed up in his face as he looked up at her. “That would be great,” he said, as he turned to her sporting his huge grin. “Probably what I really need right now.”
He marveled again at how he had the fortune of having wonderful friends around him, despite all that’s been happening recently. “I hope it won’t be much of a bother to you.”
trevor-page:
“One day someone’s going to redefine the concept of the bunny, and you can bet I’ll be right there besides them. Probably having served as the inspiration, of course…” Trevor was, honestly speaking, a little disappointed. How was rabbit shifting in any way as useful as Isaiah’s own affinity, or even Emmeline’s? Still, like everything else, he hadn’t let it bother him for long. Now he mostly found it funny, having decided to laugh at himself too.
“Yeah, well, sometimes I’m not sure I know her super well either.” Trevor shrugged back. He wished he and Emmeline weren’t the way they were, but he didn’t know how to fix that. “Oh, and it was that one time at summer camp, remember?” Of course, he was bullshitting, but the way he said it with a straight face might have convinced anyone but his best friend.
Stepping through the doorway after Isaiah, Trevor shook his head as they arrived at their destination. “Okay, well, here we are. Hey - do you think anyone would dig a blog post about pizza or is that, like, too mundane?” he said, trying to change the subject from whatever Isaiah didn’t want to think about.
“Alright, well I’ll be waiting for that glorious day,” he replied absently, though he has no idea what concept of the bunny could be redefined. And how.
Isaiah stared at him for a moment, before he cast his eyes down, thoughts jumping to his own sister. He thought he knew her, but he didn’t anticipate she’d push him away. “Sisters are complicated,” he shrugged.
Rolling his eyes again, Isaiah allowed himself a small chuckle. “Please. That’s bullshit, and you know it,” he retorted confidently. They both know that didn’t happen at all. Although, now that he thinks about it, would he ever pet Trevor? The idea of petting your best friend turned bunny seems weird.
“Depends on the pizza, probably. Maybe people looking for recommendations would find it useful. If they’d trust a blog that also talks about nuclear weapons, aliens and other conspiracy theories.” Isaiah was saying, as his feet automatically led him along the aisles, looking for a spot for both of them. He found one, near the glass walls. Perfect, he thought. He sat down and waited for Trevor, grateful that he’s changing the subject.
danielxjameson:
Daniel opened his mouth and then closed it. He didn’t know what to say to that so he decided to stay quiet. If he did use it against someone, he wanted to be ready, which was why he was practicing. He wasn’t about to be the next person who disappeared from this place.
“That’s awesome though.” Daniel smiled widely. “You could help a lot of people with that power. Have you ever thought of working in a clinic or hospital setting? I’m sure you’d be of good use there.” He said and then began to stammer. “I-I didn’t mean that you should I just meant… I mean there’s sick people in the hospital or… hurt people and I just thought…” Daniel glanced down at the ground. “I mean that would be what I’d do but… you’re not me, obviously.” He laughed nervously.
Isaiah nods his head, fully understanding what he meant. “I get it, don’t worry,” he assured him after he stammered, clearly afraid of sounding like he’s dictating what Isaiah should do. “It’s a good suggestion, and yeah I’ve thought about doing that full-time after I finish mastering my affinity,” he said, and then realized he couldn’t fully master it anyway, “Or at least when I feel confident enough to leave Brattington.” Right now, he’s only been helping out at Brattington’s hospital wing - it was good training after all - but what he really wants it to push himself further to be able to heal even the most obscure diseases, and anything caused by dark magic and curses.
“How about you? Have any plans after Brattington?”
damaristhebull:
Well this would definitely qualify as important. Damaris immediately dropped everything to assist in healing the wound. She wasn’t a healing professor, but she did have quite a knack for healing magic when she was a student at Brattington herself. She just hoped she was able to remember everything she needed to. She took a look at the wound, it was deep, but as long as the blood loss was slowed down, a full recovery could be made. Most people would start off with asking what happened, but Damaris found that took too much time, and they seemed to be quite short on that, so she just went straight into healing. This wound was worse than any wound she ever wished to see on a student, but luckily it was not the worst wound she had ever seen, and definitely not the worst wound she had ever healed. After a few tries of a few different healing spells, she was finally able to at least stop the bleeding, but it seemed as though the pain was unceasing. “Mr. Jones, will you please go fetch assistance from the hospital wing so we can get them to the infirmary?” She instructed her student.
Isaiah wasn’t quite aware of what exactly happened, all he knew was that some spell was used, and this spell was unlike anything he’s seen before. Maybe he’d ask Ms. Abrams later, since she’s teaching Defensive Magic, but for now he set that question aside. There were more important things to consider.
He watched over her as she tried to heal the bleeding student, and was amazed to see that she was able to stop the bleeding. But the student was still whimpering, face contorted in pain. At her instruction, he quickly nodded, turning on his heels to run for the infirmary. “Yes, of course,” he muttered as a reply to her as he left. It was times like these that he wished he had teleportation, telepathy, or superspeed as his affinity. He could just see the many uses.
poppy-mason:
Poppy gave him a small smile in return, but she still felt a bit of residual guilt. “Um… it’s a lot about connecting with your inner self and potential and meditation stuff. It’s actually pretty nice.” Sure, some of it went over her head, but for the most part, it was a comforting start to the day. And it was nice having all of the Narcissus students in one place, even if they were all morning-groggy. “Oh, do you think you’re ready? I’m absolutely rubbish at potions. I’m glad I don’t have to take any more.” She was jealous of those who were inclined to the work, to be honest. They had so much potential to help people. But she knew it was a great thing for Isaiah to be learning, so she was happy for her friend.
Isaiah nodded. All of it does sound nice. Especially meditation. He’s been having a lot of trouble sleeping recently, and his mind is always occupied with thoughts about what happened at the Solstice. No matter what he does, he can’t seem to shake off these thoughts. “I wish I could take a course like that, with meditation.”
“No, I’m not ready. At all,” he admitted, shaking his head. “It’s a really difficult one, and if I get one thing wrong, the entire potion would get messed up, and it’s... daunting.” He looked down, and sighed. It also doesn’t help that he’s having a hard time focusing on anything.
trevor-page:
It’s okay, Trevor thought. One day Isaiah would see just how widespread Brattington’s roots really were, and Trevor would be there to show him. Not to say I told you so, of course, but just because…well, okay, perhaps a little.
“Well, I’m not going to say you should expect anything, because you know me…faster than the wind, like a speeding eagle. I’m unpredictable, a caged tiger…” Trevor trailed off, pretty sure Isaiah was rolling his eyes, which was, admittedly, the point. “Well, I mean, she doesn’t make it a point to, but I wouldn’t put it past her if she was mad enough at me. She has a spiteful side, and not everyone knows it.” Shaking his head then, he smirked. “Please, you’d so pet me, bro.”
When Isaiah didn’t answer the question, Trevor thought about pushing it. Sometimes Isaiah could get caught up in his thoughts, and it was a good thing to try and bring him out of it. He didn’t seem like that now, though, so he simply nodded. “Okay, pizza it is. Non-shifters first!”
He was right, all his rambling did make Isaiah roll his eyes. “Caged tigers, speeding eagles. And yet you’re a bunny,” he muttered, shaking his head a little, a small smile following a slight chuckle. Trevor has already been turning to a rabbit for years now, but up to this day, Isaiah still found it funny. Subconsciously, it must have been one of the reasons they’re still as close as they are, despite their difference. He is thoroughly amused at his friend’s affinity.
“I don’t talk to Emmeline much, but I guess you know her better because she’s your sister,” he said, shrugging. He couldn’t judge for himself, so he’d take Trevor’s word for it. Another eyeroll. “When did I ever pet you?”
Isaiah held his friend’s eyes, and saw the exact moment Trevor decided not to push it. But if he would ask again, at a different time, maybe he could explain everything. He’s been having nightmares lately, and many other things take up his mind these days. This was the first time in a while that something normal was happening and he’d like for it to last as long as it could. And thank god it seemed like Trevor sensed that. “Alright,” he agreed, turning the key and stepping closer, waiting to be transported.
underwater
thelovely-maidenfair:
Sofia nodded in acquiesce before pulling herself up onto the edge. Her wet clothes made it difficult as the both clung to her body and the water that had been its home. Water seemed to slosh off of her in waves, especially her hair. The water painting water tracks down her face. She pulled it back from her face gently, letting it drip…. drip… drip onto the pool edge as her feet stayed in the water. “In the ocean? No, I haven’t. Part of me is scared to because of what would happen after. And I might float away forever. But I’d still love to try it, at least once despite the consequences.” She breathed, a smile lighting up her face at his offer, before falling. She didn’t want to make his grades suffer if all his time was taken up with her. “I-I’d love that. Honestly I would. But I don’t want your grades to suffer because of me. It could take forever for me to get it and I don’t want to penalize you for it.”
Isaiah sat on the edge, his feet also dipped into the water. His long limbs were also dripping with water, but not as much as her, since she’s fully clothed. He only had on his black swim shorts, and he could already feel the air around him start to evaporate the water on his skin. “I’m going to try and ease the soreness in your throat,” he informed her, his hesitant hand reaching out to touch her, meeting her eyes and wordlessly asking for permission again.
“When you decide to try doing this in the ocean, it would be better if you could swim,” he said thoughtfully. “And I really am willing to teach you. I don’t think my grades would suffer,” he tried to reassure her. It won’t take up too much of his time. He’d been coming here for a few hours every other day anyway, and he could use that time to teach her.
“If it makes you feel better, it could just be a favor. And maybe you can return it by helping me in one of the courses, something like that,” he suggested, tilting his head and waiting to see what her thoughts are.
aroseby-any-othername:
Amberly looked at him, contemplating. “If you insist.” She murmured taking one of the bracelets. It was warm and the stones really were enchanting to look at. “And I better see you with another one the next time I see you. Alright?” Amberly challenged, looking back up at him. She’d feel rather horrible if he didn’t get another one after she had taken one. “Help me tie it on?” She asked after a moment of chasing the tie around.
He had to smile at that, and he said, “Fine, I’ll ask my Dad for another one as soon as I could talk to him.” He’s a very busy man, so he wasn’t sure when that could be, but he’s gonna keep his promise. The bracelet has two runestones and selenite crystals weaved into it. “Yeah, of course,” he answered, moving over to quickly tie it around her wrist. He stood back after successfully trying the bracelet, staring at it. “I hope that helps with all the storm-brewing.”
Selenite
Selenite is a protective stone which can absorb all negative energy while also having the ability to charge and cleanse other crystals

“I hope this is important because you are currently making me-” she looked at the watch on her wrist, “Thirty-seven seconds late to a meeting.”
“I’m sorry, Miss Abrams. But something bad’s happened, you’re the first faculty member I saw...” Isaiah said quickly. “They’re losing a lot of blood, and I can’t close the wound, I didn’t know what to do.” Isaiah hands were bloody from where he attempted to close the wounds and heal them through his touch. But it seemed like the wounds would only multiply and slash in deeper on its own. He felt helpless, because despite all he’s learned as a healer, he couldn’t seem to do anything this time.
xlecompasx:
Gen had been searching for herbrother since the party had officially began. It had been so long she she hadlast actually been able to talk to him. And today was his birthday so it wasthe perfect reunion. But so far, her search had proved fruitless and the warmrays of the sun were draining her. ❝Well there is one sure way to find him.❞She mumbled to herself with a drawn-out yawn. Making herself comfortablethe girl laid back in the sand. Gazing up into the sky she imagined the cloudsfloating whimsically by as she listened to the roar of the party in full swing.
In no time the young woman haddrifted off into slumber land, bouncing like a ball around the dreams of theother sleeping party goers. She was actually surprised at how many of them hadchosen to nap rather than join the festivities. It had taken more time than she’dexpected but finally she found him near off on his own in a secluded corner ofthe lake. Gen’s face lit up with a smile; one which carried over into Isaiah’sdream. One that he returned in kind, it warmed Gen’s heart to actually be ableto see that. ❝I finally found you!❞ She chimed in an excited tone.
In his dream, he had been walking aimlessly along the cobbled streets of Brattington, where there seemed to be no end in sight. But later on, his sister showed up, and it was able to register in the cognitive parts of his sleeping brain that this must be because she was dream walking. The smile on his face was still bright, and he replied, “Finally. I’ve missed you, Gene.” He told her,and he frowned a little because his voice oddly seemed to reverberate.
“Where are you?” he asked, wondering where her physical body was at that moment. He knew academy students weren’t really allowed at the party, but really no one checks anyway. There was a chance she was there, as part of her recent penchant for independence and trying new things.
Isaiah still worried about her constantly, but since he felt he was being pushed away, he didn’t have much choice. He would still be there when she needs him, but since she’d asked, he wouldn’t hang around her as much as he did before.
trevor-page:
“Depends on your definition of odd, really.” Trevor knew Isaiah thought magic that fascinating, and he…well, he thought it was anything but. Clearly their perceptions of normality differed. He raised a light eyebrow when his friend brought up the story, and quickly he nodded and held up his hand. “You say that like it’s ridiculous. But if you think about it, how else can you explain the North Korean government’s miniaturization of nuclear weapons when global security experts around the world said they lacked the capacity and resources?”
Okay, so Trevor might not have been interested in magic, but the normal world, the one he wanted to be a part of, that fascinated him.
Shrugging, he simply said. “It’s whatever. Probably an omen, to be honest.” He grinned. “At least I know you wouldn’t eat me if I were a delicious bunny dish. Emmeline wouldn’t give it a second thought. And…trust me, I know. But, man, when you’re getting petted because everyone thinks you’re just a cute little bunny? That’s pretty cool. I guess.”
The smile faded slightly, and Trevor was quiet for a beat longer than was typical. He wasn’t good at talking about emotions. “Dude, were you alright earlier? You seemed…I dunno, you seemed a little stressed out.”
“The non-magical world is odd, in general,” Isaiah replied, offhandedly. He was pretty sure by now they both knew the other’s views about the two worlds. Isaiah is a legacy, and he grew up with his wizard father who is, up until now, teaching ancient magic and language. He found this world much more fascinating than the other, where there’s no magic. In this world, the magical one, he has found his place, his comfort. “It is ridiculous. But I’m sure you find it fascinating. Should I expect a post about it then?”
Isaiah had to smile a little. “An advantage of having a vegetarian friend,” he said, and then asked, horrified, “Emmeline eats bunnies? Really?” Shaking his head slightly, he chuckled a little. “I’m just glad I know what you look like when you turn so I know not to pet you,” Isaiah joked.
When Trevor’s smile faded, and he was more quiet than usual, Isaiah knew something was up. The laughter in his own eyes died out, and he regarded his best friend seriously. He really had to bring this up now? When they’re literally at the door, ready to leave? “I wasn’t, but let’s not talk about that right now. The door’s waiting, Trev.”
