I donât think Aziraphaleâs love for Crowley was is the most predictable thing in the universe.
I think it's the opposite, actually.
Yes, Aziraphale is an angel, he loves, thatâs what he does. But heâs not supposed to love a demon. Because of what he is, of who he is, he struggled with his feelings for Crowley for millennia. And yet, each time they met, he made the choice to speak with him, to protect him, to stay, to bond - to love.
In a universe in which angels and demons are supposed to be hereditary enemies, an angel chose a demon, over and over again (with a few notable exceptions, but we all know why - and he still loved him).
Messy? Oh, yes.
Silly? How can such a relationship, built on trust and affection, be silly?
Predictable? More like ineffable.
Ok, this story has been living rent-free in my head for weeks, so instead of waiting until I've written the estimated 90K words, I'm unleashing the concept out there.
So, I am delighted to formally introduce you to
My new WIP:
What Love Will Do to You
(Yes, the working title is from a Laufey song)
Fandom: Good omens
Pairing(s): Aziraphale/Crowley; background Anathema Device/Newton Pulsifer and Madame Tracy/Shadwell
Rating: probably T
Working summary:
Owning a bookshop in a nice neighbourhood like Soho is everything Aziraphale has ever wanted.
Thinking about it, he could finally accept to live the respectable future his parents wanted for him, with the partner they adore.
That is until destiny introduces him to Crowley, a charming florist with stars for eyes and a thousand ways to communicate through flowers. Crowley, who finally makes him feel understood.
Their friendship is a line they cross long before either of them admits it.
The problem is that Aziraphale already has a future, and Crowley knows better than to hope he might be part of it.
Can Aziraphale choose what makes him happy rather than what earns approval, and can Crowley believe he deserves to be loved?
It's a human au, and there will be:
Infidelity
Hurt/comfort
Fluff and Angst
A happy ending (obviously)
If it sounds like something you'd like, feel free to follow along and send asks. Ideas are welcome too. I make no promises that your theories won't become fuel for future scenes :)
I love them, your honour.
Being a good omens fanfic writer will have you looking up victorian flower language on a random thursday
There is no drug on earth that can replicate the absolute euphoria of hitting a writing flow state at 2:00 AM. You arenât even typing anymore. You are a vessel. You are a channel for the gods. The characters are speaking directly into your brain and youâre just the stenographer trying to keep up. You feel like you could fight a bear. You feel like you invented the alphabet
the human mind is prone to catastrophizing when left unoccupied. And thatâs why itâs important to always have a little Blorbo to rotate in your head. It acts as a protective charm of sorts to redirect your imagination away from harmful spirals
thoughts without Blorbo: oh my god I was so cringe in seventh grade why did I do that
thoughts with Blorbo: I havenât considered the interactions with bleebus; I must rectify this immediately
if your partner can turn into a really big snake~ then your options for snuggles are practically limitless! đŚđ¤đ
Just found out you can change the kudos message on ao3 and honestly? Best day of my life
Every time you leave kudos on one of my fics, youâll get one of these messages:
i know i say this often but i cannot say it loud enough: people who comment on fics, people who reblog posts and engage with fanworks are the people who generate community and without them fandom would be nowhere, so truly thank you for your presence, you make the world go 'round <3
Greek omens?
Say no more. I read a post about how sometimes Aziraphale probably just zones out thinking about Crowley's long hair and honestly...same.
I don't know about you, but I love the myth of Dionysus turning Ariadne's flower crown into a constellation. Hence, Aziraphale's hands crowning crowley with a wreath.
I may or may not have rediscovered my Greek mythology hyperfixation, and that may or may not have brought me to produce this piece. Lol.
Also, tried a new rendering style for hair. Not sure if I like it.
Actually, I'm not over the genius of Pratchett with the resurrections after the Apocalypse That Wasn't (Armageddon't) making sure to show that people (apparently) killed by Heaven, Hell, and Humanity were all fine.
Aziraphale vanished a soldier at the airbase, and he was sent home to his family in America. Hastur killed the call centre employees, and one of them called Jasmine Cottage the day after. The deliveryman killed himself to deliver Death's message, and then the next day delivered the second volume of Agnes Nutter's prophecies.
No one died so Adam could live. No one is expendable, because everyone is a person, and inherently precious because of that. There's no such thing as an unimportant character in a Pratchett novel, just a character who the story isn't about.
reblog to throw tomatoes at people who harass/shame others over fiction.
also reblog to give fanfic writers the love and courage to write whatever they wantâhowever they wantâforever.
"James is cross with me for having a ladder in my thighs"
"Really?"
"Yes"
"I love a ladder. Stairway to Heaven and all that".
Started watching rivals (because yes) and I am loving the romance between Lizzie and Freddie.
When I heard this line my mind drifted immediately to Aziracrow. Especially later on, with Freddie saving Lizzie's book.
And so I was wondering if I could write a human au, with the two of them having an affair.
If anyone is interested, I am starting to work on it (more info in the future)
