He hadn’t meant to slip into recharge.

He had been listening to radio traffic from deception outposts in deep space – only vaguely but happily aware of the little warm spot on his shoulder where you nestled between his helm and his missile arrays. He could just about hear your even breaths as you snoozed, settled into your little organic version of recharge.

Adorable. Even if he’d never say it out loud.

He shouldn’t have slept. But he was warm, and things were quiet, and Hothead and Random were also quiet inside their helm (at the same time? He should ask Swindle for a lottery ticket…) Between the weight of vorns on his pedes and your cute little sleep sounds, he can’t help but let his optics slide shut, just for a brief little moment…

Icy:

He comes to rudely: Neck? Sore. Back? Worse. Processor? He winces as the usual headache slams it’s way in and the distant sensation of teeth grinding together on Hotheads face makes itself known.

Primus, just kill him now.

His chronometer insultingly beeps midmorning as he clicks round to check on you, hoping he hasn’t shifted around enough to make you uncomfortable.

Monocle eye ENGAGE-

Heat vision, night vision, x-ray and comm chat logs flash across his internal readings – had someone come in and snatched you? No impossible, he’d have heard- they’d never have let him sleep- oh Primus what if you wandered off?! And gotten lost in the mines?! Lugnut wouldn’t hesitate to reduce you to a pulpy smear if he saw you, he should have listened to Random and taped you to his chassis-

He careens outside with the kind of barely controlled momentum that could kindly be read as a one-mech stampede.

Only to freeze, stunned, at the sight of your tiny form sat in the sun, an old creased book idly in your fingers. You turn to greet him with a quizzical smile, head cocked to the side.

“Morning! What’s the rush? Megs order you out?”

Hothead:

It’s rare he comes online first. To bring him to the forefront this early, something has to piss him off.

He’s blasted out of recharge by the obnoxious blaring of Lugnut’s (42069th ) declaration of undying devotion BOOMING though the team commlink - toppling off the berth with a yell.

He’s already slammed his fist into the wall and screamed on all channels for the oaf to SHUT THE FRAG UP when he whips to face his shoulder, a horrible pit opening in his tanks as he realises he’s probably scared you again – he can’t do anything right-

You’re not on his shoulder.

You’re – you’re not on the ground, either -

He grabs the berth and rips it from the wall, frantically waiting for the scream and swearing when nothing happens. Frag, frag frag FRAG-

Grabbing at his pedes to check for red smears nearly tips him over, but the lack of warm sticky liquid barely stops the frantic spinning of his spark.

He chucks the warped berth into the wall – ignores the harsh stab of reprimand from Icy – and slams his way into the hall. He roughly shoves the Constructicons aside and grinds his teeth hard enough to crack the backmost dentae – scanning desperately for tiny movement underpede as he rushes outside.

“Ow! Blitz what the fuck-!?”

He turns so fast he swears Icy and Random whizz past his vision due to whiplash.

You stumble up, rubbing your head where dirt and small bits of rubble dislodged during his rush clearly fell and bonked you a bit on the noggin. A book with crinkled pages tumbles from your lap.

“VAT THE FRAG ARE YOU DOING OUT HERE?!”

You gape up at him before scrunching your face up in indignant cute rage.

“I was READING you overgrown barbecue fridgefreezer combo-"

Random:

Random has a habit of searching for warmth in recharge. And of waking up absolutely sprawled across berth, chair and workstation alike, limbs akimbo in his search.

What warmth is there to search for in a cave? Yours. Knock knock schatzy make room-

So when Random wakes up face first against the cave floor with one pede still in berth and the other half transformed and wedged against his cannon array, his wings just wiggle as he giggles about it.

Unlike Icy and Hothead, Randoms visual feed skews more towards thermals. Which makes it easy to see your itty bitty body in the cold purples of the mines. He’s smushed up against a tiny little footprint right now!

He purrs and rolls his face against it. His attempts to lick it just result in his tongue smacking wetly against the rock as his headmates screech at him about getting dirt in his dentae again.

….the little print is green, Rapidly going blue. He cycles his optics again. Going cold? Unacceptable! You must make more bitty prints. Where are you snuggled up-?

He spends a good minute spinning in circles trying to look over his own shoulders before his tank sinks in his chassis with a whine. The rapidly cooling tiny trail of prints leads out of his assigned quarters. You didn’t even wander about a bit. You dropped from the berth, around his crumpled, snuggly body and just. Walked out.

He looks down at his arms and chest, frantically looking for any warm little spots, and finding none.

You left without kisses.

He thunders outside, miserably wondering if getting Lugnut to punch him would hurt less than not having your mushy flesh pressed up against his armour, stopping short at your tiny body in the mine entrance. Reading.

You turn, smiling at him, and he heroically resists the urge to roll back on the ground, lay his head in your lap and chew on a leg or two.

Instead he fold his arms, glares down, and lets his eternal smile drop into something thats definitely menacing and absolutely not a pout.

You slowly let the smile fall from your face, worriedly shuffling as the silence stretches, before sighing and flipping your book shut.

“Random you dolt I didn’t forget your goodbye kiss – it’s on your forehead.”

Half Asleep Fanfic BLITZWING

You toss him a chunk of metal, “ok, I have to go out into the city. You can use that to sculpt or something.” You inform him. Vrrch “why?” Blue asks. “Errands, stay out of sight and don’t break anything, ok?” He nods in response and you leave. The city is dirty as always, robots everywhere. Why can’t Sumdac just make litter-cleaner bots? You just need to get food and head back, no need to linger. Suddenly there’s a loud crash. There’s the Autobots, noticeably smaller than Blitzwing, fighting a child on a… unicorn? No wonder you don’t stay in the city long, this place is a madhouse.

You buy the things you need and hurriedly try to get away from the commotion. You get back to the scrapyard, and blitzing’s still there. He softly sets down what used to be the chunk of metal, now a spider, in front of you. “Oh, a spider, do you like spiders?” You pick up the metal sculpture. “No, quite the opposite in fact.” He responds coldly. “Why?” “Something that happened a long time ago.” Vrrch. “But enough about that! welcome back, we missed you!” Black interjects, nudging his faceplate against you. 

You scratch the welding behind his helm and ask. “Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask, what’s the deal with you guys peeking into my house?” His jagged smile widens, “We like you, dummerchen. We are curious about the things you do.” His faceplates switch, roughly scraping your fingers. “What he means to say is-“ blue cuts himself off as he sees you yank your hand back. “Did I hurt you?” He asks, there’s a hint of softness beneath his usual monotone tone. “A bit, I think my hand got bashed by your upper chin guard.” 

Your hand looks fine, it’s just a bit red and sore. “My apologies, schatz. I wasn’t thinking…” he replied softly, gently taking your hand and inspecting it for himself. His servo is freezing, it feels kind of soothing against your sore hand. He looks genuinely remorseful. “Hey, it’s ok, it was an accident.” You reassure him. “You’re much too forgiving, I hurt you, I should’ve been more careful, you’re too fragile for me to be reckless.” He argues. “I’m ok, promise.” You pat his cheek. You smirk, “I guess you really do like me, huh?” You tease. Vrrch. “Don’t be stupid! You’re just so weak and fragile that we have to be gentle with you.” Red growls. Despite his harsh tone, he scooches in closer, his fingers gently moving to your back. “You’d tell us if we ever hurt you, right?” He asks quietly. You nod and he backs off slightly.

You’re suddenly hit with an idea. “Give me a moment, I’ll be right back.” You tell him, running inside. You come back out with a projector, a large white screen, and some blankets and pillows. Blitzwing, who’s now blue, helps you hang it up, asking, “So, what’s this for?” You grin at him, “movies, since we’re friends and all.” You get comfortable, searching for a movie. Blitzwing rests his head down next to you, watching the screen as you look for a movie. “Have you ever watched a human movie?” You ask him. “No.” He replies quietly. You pick a movie. He scooches closer, his chin resting on one of the blankets. You pat his cheek. “Sorry I don’t have one for you, big guy.”

You two watch the movie, he remains very still and quiet. During a funny part of the movie, Blitzwing’s mouth stretches into an almost grimace, and a very dry “hah” escapes his mouth. You blink at him. “What was that?” You glance over, his mouth back to his regular resting face. “Hm? It was funny.” Blue responds. “Was… that was a smile?” You ask. He pauses, “… yes? … did I do it wrong?” You pat his cheek. “It… uhm… just caught me off guard.” You smile at him, finding it very endearing.

You remove your hand from his cheek and return your attention to the movie. Vrrch. Black starts nudging his faceplate against your side. You sigh and return your hand to his cheek. “You’re so needy, y’know that?” He just snickers in response. He turns his attention back to the movie, his servo gently resting on you, over your blanket. You continue absentmindedly stroking his cheek. He suddenly squints at the screen. “That’s weird, what are they doing?” You notice it’s a kissing scene. “Oh, you don’t know what kissing is?” Vrrrch. “It looks strange… why are they doing that? What’s its purpose?” You pause, unsure how to go about explain kissing to a giant alien robot. “Well, when humans really like eachother they put their mouths together like that in a kiss.” You explain, not wanting to linger on this topic for long. “Huh… interesting… you humans have such odd customs.” Vrrch. “So it’s affection?” You nod. “Yeah, why do you as-“ before you could finish, Blitzwing presses his faceplate against your lips, this faceplate doesn’t even have lips, just the toothy grin. He pulls back. “Did I do it right?” He asks, his smile wider than usual. “I-I think you misunderstood me… it’s a romantic gesture.” You gently correct him. His face plates spin a while before eventually landing on blue, though his cheeks look brighter than usual. “Our apologies, we… we didn’t realize… I would’ve stopped him if…” he mutters. “It’s ok, just a simple misunderstanding, I’m not mad, I should’ve been more clear.” 

As much as you try to comfort him, he doesn’t look any less embarrassed. Blitzwing isn’t as close as before, a few feet of space between you two. You feel bad, you know he wants to be close, but now it’s awkward. You start thinking of a way to get him to come closer so he’ll stop freaking out without directly telling him to come closer. Then you get an idea. You bundle up in your blankets, “god, I’m freezing” you shiver. Vrrch. There’s red, might be the quickest to anger, but certainly quick to be a living heater. He scooches a bit closer, close enough to keep you warm.

The next morning, Blitzwing is nowhere to be found in the scrap yard. You head outside to work. Usually it can be pretty boring, but you welcome a boring day after having a Decepticon lurking around. Suddenly you hear a crash, you rush towards the noise, seeing Blitzwing laying on the ground face down. He looks beaten up. You cautiously approach, suddenly one of his servos slams down in front of you, he growls “Don’t even think about it.” You quickly back up. “What happened?” You ask cautiously. Vrrch. The blue face looks up at you. “I don’t see how that’s any of your concern…” “well, you’re hurt on my property, why?” You continue. After a pause he answers, “It’s safe.” You nod, unsure what to do. You want to help, weld him, something. “Can I come closer?” Vrrrch “Why!?” Red snaps. “I can’t exactly help without getting closer.” You explain. He pauses, “Fine…” you approach and he shifts, making his injuries more visible. He’s covered in dirt and debris as well. “I’ll be right back, I need to grab my tools… and a hose.”

You come back and start welding the gashes, Blitzwing’s frame is tense and hot. He doesn’t switch at all during the process, Red fronting the whole time. After a while you’re done. “There, any better?” You ask. He nods, shifting slightly, he’s oddly quiet now, not something you’d expect from the more aggressive alter. “You’re still pretty dirty, do you mind being hosed?” Blitzwing grumbles, “If you must.” You turn on the hose, cold water hitting him. His frame immediately relaxes. “You like that?” You snicker. “Shut up.” He growls, but it’s gentler than before.

After a while of hosing he’s finally clean. “Now do you want to tell me what happened?” You press. Vrrrch. “Fine, Megatron, my… boss, has deemed that I have been trouble, resulting in a punishment.” Blue answers coldly. “Well, that’s not right.” You respond, cleaning up your tools. “What do you mean? I was trouble, I misbehaved.” He asks. “No, you don’t deserve to be beat by your boss for ‘misbehaving’” you respond sternly. He stops talking, seemingly lost in thought. “you alright, big guy?” You ask him, patting his leg. He looks down at you. Vrrrch. Black lightly taps the top of your head with one of his fingers, giggling. “Yep! I’m great!” Vrrch. “You’ve just given me a lot to think about…” Blue adds.

He leaves, leaving you alone in the scrapyard, cleaning and patching him up took pretty much all day, so you head inside to relax and take a break. You take a shower and head to bed. You hear something in the scrapyard, you peek out your window, it’s just Blitzwing sneaking back in. You see him lay down on the ground instead of transforming into a tank like he usually does. You go back to bed and eventually fall asleep.

Early in the morning you wake up to the feeling of warm metal against your body. You open your eyes and realize you’re outside… with Blitzwing. He has you cupped in his servos, his cheek pressed against your body. It’s the hotheaded one. At least his heat is protecting you from the cold air. You put your hand on his face, surprised that it squishes slightly, almost like skin. He stirs, letting out a small half asleep grumble. You slip your hand in the gap between his helm and face, you can feel welding, you gently scratch it. Blitzwing’s engine loudly purrs. His optics open. “What are you doing?” He softly growls. “Uhm… petting you?” You say, surprised that your first reaction is to pet him. He grumbles, but his engine continues purring and he doesn’t move out of your reach.

“So, what’s the deal with the welding? Old fighting injury?” You ask. “It’s none of your business.” Red growls. You nod, assuming you won’t get any answers out of him anyway. Though, you make a mental note to ask him about the watching you sleep thing, black’s the most likely to tell you because of how talkative he is. You feel his face press closer, desperate for as much touch as he can get. A single finger gently traces your body, it’s more out of curiosity than anything. He huffs “you’re frail, weak.” “Oh, I am?” You ask, getting a little nervous. “Well, since you’re obviously incapable protecting yourself, I’ll just have to do it for you.” He says in an exasperated manner. But he presses close, his nose digging into your stomach. You stroke his cheek. “How nice of you.” He scoffs in response, “I’m not nice.” You hum in response. His metal is hot, but not enough to burn you. You eventually draw your hand, trying to wriggle away. “Okay, enough of that, I have work!” His grip tightens before letting go. “Thank you, Blitzy.” You say, stretching. He practically gags in response.

You own a decent sized scrap yard in the forest by Detroit, someone’s got to take all the rubbish after a Sumdac machine breaks down. You didn’t tend to keep up with current events, you know of the Autobots, but always assumed they were more of Sumdac’s machines.

Recently, your security cameras have been picking up something unusual. A giant figure with glowing red eyes, rummaging through the scrap. In the morning, things would be gone. Sometimes scrap you had a plan for would go missing, which is frustrating. So, you had the brilliant idea to set aside the junk he was allowed to take, since you doubted you could stop him. You put a sign up and went to bed.

In the middle of the night, he comes back, spotting the sign and pile. “Oooh, how hospitable!” Vvvrrrrch “quiet, we are still on human property.” He whispers to himself. He quietly goes through the metal. “Ah, this is a good piece… now what do we even make?” Vvvrrrrch “oooh, oooh! I know! A gift for the human! We gotta show our thanks for letting us take their things!” Vvvrrrrch “A gift?! For a human?! That’s the stupidest thing to exit your vocals.” He growled.

The next morning you exit your home and notice some of the metal missing. But something new is there, a metal beetle sits amongst the scrap. It looks handmade. You pick it up, it’s heavy, needing both hands to properly carry it. You cradle it in your arms and bring it inside, how sweet of your visitor, to make you a gift. You finally decide to look it up. He’s probably one of Sumdac’s new toys, you think to yourself as you open your phone.

You stare dumbfounded at what appeared in your search engine. Alien robots… fighting other alien robots. You begin scrolling through the list and pictures. Until you stumble upon a news clip. Destruction, the Autobots fighting a giant robot, who looks a lot like the silhouette the security cameras were picking up. A scary robot with three faces has been taking your junk for days, you decide it would be best to sit down before your legs fold.

Your gaze falls onto the beetle. Why? Why was he taking your junk, why did he make you a beetle? A part of you wonders if he’s truly that bad, but you remind yourself he’s a Decepticon, an evil alien robot. But you still end up setting up a shelter for him after covering your materials, it’s said to rain tonight. A simple suspended tarp, and another one underneath.

The next morning you get up and look out the window, it’s still raining, and there’s something under the tarp. A tank. You step outside, under the canopy on your porch, keeping your distance from the unmoving tank. A rhythmic rumbling noise emanates from it, like snoring. Best to leave it alone until it goes away on its own, you think as you head back inside.

It rains for the rest of the day, at some point the tank disappears while you weren’t looking. You were inside, watching tv, the whole room suddenly fills with a red light. Then, it disappears as quickly as it appeared. You feel uneasy, so you draw the curtain.

Blitzwing quietly sneaks away, the red face grumbles “I cannot believe you took a peek…” vrrch “C’mon! I was curious, can you blame me?” The black face responds. Vrrrch “Yes… yes we can. That was stupid, we aren’t to interact with humans beyond what’s necessary.” The blue one responds coldly. Vrrch “But they’re nice! They gave us a place to rest away from the others…” Black whines.

The next morning, the tank is back. You carefully exit the house, slowly approaching. The pile has a new sculpture, a jet. You don’t go to grab it at first, but a loud, almost angry, rumble comes from the tank. You scoop the jet up and the rumble stops. “….Ok… uhm… you must be Blitzwing… my name’s Y/n… thank you for not destroying my things…” you say, trying to initiate a conversation, but it receives no response. “Well, it was nice to meet you… I guess… thanks for the beetle.” You say as you walk away. 

The rest of the day is uneventful. You settle in bed, trying to go to sleep. A red light shines into the room, causing you to stir. You open your eyes, looking at the window, a red eye peers in, its white pupil shrinking upon noticing you saw. It quickly ducks away from the window. You can hear the bot quickly retreating.

As Blitzwing goes back to base, the other two faces are oddly quiet. Suddenly black comes out, “they liked our gift” he giggles. Vrrrch “yeah, but they also saw us looking into their home, thanks to someone.” Red growls. As Blitzwing approaches the base, he suddenly feels a heavy servo on his shoulder. “Hello, Blitzwing.” The mech greets him with a shoulder squeeze, firm, but not painful… yet. “Hello, Lord Megatron.” Blue responds calmly. “You thought I wouldn’t notice you sneaking out in the middle of the night? What were you doing?” Megatron asks, but it sounds more like an order. “The base gets… stuffy, we cannot recharge well inside.” Blitzwing responds. Megatron’s optics narrow, then an amused smirk crosses his face. “Heh, well, I wish you would’ve told me. But you can continue, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your duties or gets you spotted.” Megatron finally releases Blitzwing, heading back inside, but before he enters, he pauses. “Although, I don’t like secrets, Blitzwing.”
