This isn't even a joke it's just what we do
the among us show being a total gorefest on par with john carpenter's the thing is a really fun choice
the among us show having a gay orgy in the middle of it is another really fun choice
realizing many people don't know about infinity train creator owen dennis' among us show from years ago, which has been trapped in unreleased limbo all this time and was just dumped on streaming this morning with no advertisement. they don't even know about its weirdly stacked cast
one of the worst things about fandom is when people headcanon a certain character as gay and suddenly that becomes the only valid, practically unofficial-official canon reading of that character's sexuality. gay. just gay. character has shown romantic or sexual desire for women? it's comphet, don't worry, he's still gay. character isn't interested in sex much at all? it's because he hasn't fucked a man, obviously. character has lots of women friends? they are the hags to his fag, he's gay, why are you even trying. and it all seems like a very Transformative and Woke way to read a character until you step back and realize how much biphobia, acephobia, misogyny, and transphobia are baked into the adamant refusal to accept The Character as anything other than gay. it's horrendous, actually. but you will get shot in the streets for this.
Genuinely don't know what it's called but there's a particular way of violating reality that doesn't work. For example, I am willing to accept an omegaverse university AU of nearly any fandom you care to name (except, for some reason, Sherlock, because I have an inexplicable hatred for unilock). However, a lot of Star Wars university AUs specifically fail on this aspect: they make Anakin an engineering PhD student and Obi-Wan something like literature or classics, and then they make Anakin his TA or GA.
You can't do that. Absolutely not. Anakin is unqualified for that and a university would not do it in any case. A university would literally hire a junior or senior undergraduate workstudy student to do as much of that work as possible first. They would do NOTHING other than do that and make the prof do all his own grading.
Is there a name for "I will accept [wild fantasy premise] but not [ordinary wrong thing]?" Please tell me there's a name for this. Probably someone who studies lit will know? I'm a systems person I don't know from lit theory just like Anakin
No idea if there's a formal name but I think of it as "you have to play by the rules of the universe you create". Like okay, I'll buy that Superman can fly into outer space because those are the rules set up by the Superman universe and so the author and audience both agree that this can happen in the story. The minute Superman picks up a human woman and flies her into space with him, the author broke the compact they made with the audience and now that story is bad.
Ironically, the wikipedia article for verisimilitude cites Superman as an example
I think "it violates the rules of verisimilitude" is as good a name for it as any
It's walruses vs. fairies. If a fairy shows up at my door, okay, fine, I don't know how fairies work. But a walrus is not qualified to be TA for a lit class.
The fact that the last three sentences added here made complete sense to me instantly is making me feel some kind of way
That's because it stuck to the laws of the written tumblr universe
The story follows the rules of the real world except where exceptions are explicitly spelled out.
I took a writing class a while back on worldbuilding where this was sort of one of the lessons, there was a good article we read about it that I still think about for anyone interested in more on the topic: https://tinhouse.com/engineering-impossible-architectures/

i feel like a lot of people see it as a flaw in storytelling when an actor's personality bleeds into or eclipses the typical characterization of their character but personally i think one of the funniest things abt taako adventurezone is that he is sometimes temporarily possessed by a deeply socially anxious nearing middle aged suburban father . its a core component of the character that i feel cannot be ignored
Look I do. Genuinely. tend to keep most of my hater opinions pretty close to the vest. Because like okay, you liked the thing I think kinda sucked, I don't need to go ringing your doorbell about it. We can agree on that.
But I feel the sleeper-phrase activation in myself whenever I see a take like "um if you didn't like it it's actually because you didn't understand it!!!!" and i have to like. Take a walk around the block before I morph into Ron Swanson.

As yesterday was “Twiyor Day”, and also @twiyorbase is celebrating Twiyor week, I wanted to do a piece that conveyed my biggest wish for them. It’s not thought as a real wedding, but them playing with Anya, who asks them to make a happy ending for Bondman and princess honey, a “sappy romens scene like those Becky likes”. She didn’t count on her parents actually committing to it so deeply, with Loid completely smitten when he sees Yor as a “bride”.
I’m a sap as Becky, Anya… I had to make this the sweetest thing.
Hope you like it!

in conversation about white people who go to Japan and expect their knowledge of anime to culturally carry them, I was once posed with “it’s like if there was a Japanese guy who was obsessed with spongebob and came over here and thought he could get by just communicating in spongebob quotes.” This is a false equivalence because if such a man existed we would crown him king. We’d love him. Americans would fucking love that. sometimes I get sad that this isn’t a real guy I can invite to a party.
Ok the last one got me laughing actually

I feel like zombie settings could do more to make slow zombies scarier in quiet, creeping ways. Zombies facing away from people. Walking backwards. Only moving if they're not seen. Holding a survivor but not hurting them. Motionless but their eyes follow you. Soundless horde.
Encountering fast zombies: Physical challenge
Encountering slow zombies: Psychological terror
Ohh okay okay okay I like this.
If zombies are a representation of the breakdown of society, the traditional zombie is a more noticeable, violent, immediate collapse of society.
The slow, quiet, still zombie is more about the societal collapse we don't see until it's too late, one that doesn't happen suddenly and drastically but one that happens without a fuss. The violence doesn't become the focus of the tension, the violence is the release of it.
Fun fact for the, like, three remaining Ghost Trick fans out there:
In Japanese, Ray requests to be called “Kuneri,” like “kunekune,” which means “wiggling.”
We’re talking to a wigglestick.
