Okay, hear me out on my Zathura reboot pitch:
Same idea as the Jumanji reboot movies. Zathura has changed itself into a multiplayer game that forces people to take on avatars.
The set-up is that a group of army buddies and their families have gathered together to watch the big game (football, basketball, you pick your favorite). The main characters are -
* Josh, the big, intimidating veteran who saved his buddies multiple times (played by Jon Bernthal)
* Chris, the sentimental veteran who feels disillusioned with the world after leaving the army (played by Pedro Pascal)
* Nora, Josh’s wife who is always trying to get people to invest in her candle business (played by Krysten Ritter)
* Mabel, Chris’s goth daughter who is estranged from him due to his divorce (played by Jenna Ortega)
* Tyson, the short-tempered pizza delivery guy who won’t leave their house until he gets his tip (played by Caleb McLaughlin)
* Marvel, Mabel’s Labrador retriever
Before the party began, Mabel had found the Zathura game at an antique store and brought it with her since she planned on being by herself. When Mabel plugged the game in, Marvel joined her since he’s her dog, Chris entered the room since he wants to connect with her, Josh and Nora showed up since they want everyone in the living room to watch the game, and Tyson barged his way in since he’s still angry about his tip.
And then when Mabel starts the game…you know what happens next.
As for the avatars, they are obviously different since this is not Jumanji anymore. The avatars for Zathura are -
1) Lucas Roddenberry (played by Simu Liu), a roguish, handsome spacefarer who seems to always get the ladies. This is Mabel’s avatar, so it’s Simu Liu playing Jenna Ortega.
2) Princess Jupiter Neutron (played by Emma Myers), the daughter of the king of Zathura and heir to the throne. This is Josh’s avatar, so it’s Emma Myers playing Jon Bernthal.
3) D-4067 aka “Deefor” (played by Bill Hader), a former Zorgon infiltrator unit that was reprogrammed to serve the Zathurans. This is Chris’s avatar, so it’s Bill Hader playing Pedro Pascal.
4) Xenya Xado Xhixian (played by Adria Arjona), a purple-skinned alien bounty hunter who is on the run from the Zorgon Empire. This is Nora’s avatar, so it’s Adria Arjona playing Krysten Ritter.
5) Mol’dago Varrtok (played by Jason Momoa), a red-skinned alien from a warrior race whose homeworld was destroyed by the Zorgons. This is Marvel’s avatar, so it’s Jason Momoa playing a Labrador retriever.
6) Galactica Starstruck (played by Katee Sackhoff), the top gun pilot of the Zathuran resistance against the Zorgon empire. This is Tyson’s avatar, so it’s Katee Sackhoff playing Caleb McLaughlin.
me as a teenager: man it sucks to have no privacy or autonomy but i guess its for a good reason. when i turn 18 i will realise how young i was and understand why they did all that.
me as an adult: teenagers are an oppressed class, their abuse is normalised and systemic and they need to start killing people
I love getting unaccompanied minors (kids flying alone) who so clearly just. Don't want to be here lol. Sometimes I get to know a little of their story, like their parents are divorced, or a family member died and they're heading to the funeral, but usually they just don't want to talk about it and that's fine. But I always treat the flight like it's a challenge to make them smile. I offer them snacks and soda but that's never enough, that's whatever, they could get those from an airport vending machine. Chump change. So then I tell the worst jokes. Just the most embarrassing, kindergarten teacher, annoying dad jokes you can think of. And those always get a groan, or a "Seriously??" And that's my in! Now I can say "Why, what's your idea of a good joke? No, come on hotshot, make your best joke, let's see it." And they hem and they haw but of course they eventually tell me their very best joke because kids are little competitive comedy goldmines. And it's always super funny, so I laugh, and that's where they slip up. Because you know what you almost always do when your joke successfully makes someone laugh? You smile. And I'm like. Gotcha. Rookie move. Now you're going to end up having a good time in spite of yourself. I win.
Did this with an 11yo u.m. today and he said "What did the ghost say to the other ghost?" And I said "What?" "Nothing. Ghosts aren't real."
I'm literally a flight attendant, offering snacks and drinks is my job
The holy trinity

fantastic. i love it. i posted this after my wife said it yesterday and as i was doing it i was like "this can't be an original thought. as soon as i hit post someone's going to say 'you stole this from a tweet from 2014' and i'll say 'no, i stole it from my beautiful wife.'"

‘capitalism works’ factoid actually untrue. the 62 people who own half the world’s wealth are outliers and should be eaten.
Absolutely nuts how they made up a number for this satire post and the correction is that reality is *more absurd* than the number they chose
no i’m afraid it’s even worse than that. 62 was correct in 2016 when the original post was made.
Yeah, yeah, Cassandra Clare got her start writing fanfic, old news.
Rebecca Thorne wrote She-Ra fanfic before writing Tomes & Tea.
Matt Dinniman wrote GI Joe and Transformers crossover fanfic before writing Dungeon Crawler Carl.
Pierce Brown wrote Greek Mythology fanfic before writing Red Rising.
Andy Weir wrote Ready Player One fanfic that later got canonized by Ernest Cline before writing The Martian.
Fanfic has never been, and will never be inferior to published works, and writing one does not discredit or devalue the quality of your work when writing another.
Embarrassing fact about me is that it took me so so long to be able to tell Ross Bryant and Grant O'Brien apart. I'm sorry guys you're both tall white dudes with similar-sounding names and very very similar voices. I would just wait for the first sex joke or Shakespeare reference.
I feel better now because everyone in the notes is like "yeah same".
Every day I receive further vindication
You will never believe what they did in the current episode of game changer
Should've used more Grant-like fake grants but I can see why they didn't want to make the challenge completely impossible
“I was on a strict diet during Episode VIII, and she was like, ‘Kid, get into that fridge and take some chocolate bars. I have many there.’ And I did,” he recalls. “I failed my diet because Carrie Fisher told me to. And it [felt] great.”
-John Boyega on Carrie Fisher
This is the Carrie Fisher post of body positivity reblog for a chocolate bar from her fridge
this is fucking killing me bro. computah, show me more hot hockey firefighters whaling on cops
i wish the world was kinder to women
Fun how the bystander effect was coined to cover up how cops are bigoted cowards who let a queer person die and stockholm syndrome was coined to cover that the cops handled a hostage situation so badly the hostages trusted their captors more than the cops.
