Shona was violently shaking, her cold bones vibrating around her too tight, too pale skin. Her teeth chattering against her skull, making her jaw ache, yearning for a sleep to end the misery. She assessed the river edge, noting the faces of some people she knew in passing. She didn't bother to try comfort anyone as she watched those gods-dammed-stupid-fucking-cops ask dumb questions and call for the Mayor. Great, because that's the welcome back everyone deserved, right? Shona didn't care for any of the bodies on the bank, that shit wasn't her problem. She wrapped her arms around her chest, wondering who would come for her? How long had she been gone for? Where did she go? Darkness threatened to elope her again and Shona felt her throat tighten as she tried to remain calm-- and then she heard him; Oz. Oz had come for her, to take her home. Shona felt her knees buckle in relief and exhaustion as she began sprinting towards him, not giving a shit who she left behind. Shona ran as fast as her aching body would take her, crashing into that familiar hold of Oz's arms, his warm body cradling hers, his aftershave lingering in the air. She missed this-- she missed him-- she missed safe.
Tears began forming in her eyes, when was the last time she spoke? Or let herself believe this would be possible. "Oz!" She gasped, gripping him tightly with her hands. Shona nuzzled his neck breathing in his scent once more before she met his lips in a kiss long overdue. Tears spilled from her eyes as she took him in, searching his eyes- this was real. "I thought... I'd never see you again." She whispered, her hand reaching up to touch his face. "I couldnt-- nothing was... fuck. Oz.. take me home, please."
The Jukebox Diner - open to all
Thomas knew what he had to do as soon as the news broke, with dozens of people being welcomed home.. perhaps not ready to face home. Or maybe it was more for him, to watch loved ones reunite or offer company to those without them. He didn't bother calling in his staff as he flicked on the power, opened the doors, and whipped on an apron. Thomas fired up the coffee machine, grill and hot plates, before cracking open a beer for himself and taking a sip.
"Come on in- make yourself at home. I can do pancakes, eggs, grilled cheese... it's all free for the night that's in it. So uh, any complaints you keep it to yourself buddy alright?"

Before Oz was aware of the mass media breaking across Evermore he received a message from Luis first. Shona and a handful of the other missing persons were found by a river bank near the edge of town. She was back, and if she wasn't he'd scour the earth and the hells below to find her. He didn't hesitate, driving at a ungodly speed before he was blocked off from driving any further as an array of civilian and emergency vehicles were parked along the edge of the woods. Parking and rushing out of the car, not even bothering to lock the doors he found his feet stumbling into the woods. Trying to find Shona amongst the group of strangers and familiar faces. "Shona?" He was calling out into the void and above the mass hysteria before she finally caught his eye. "Shona?" He repeated again, emotion swelling in his throat as he approached like a moth to a flame. "You're here, I can't believe it. You're fucking here. Are you okay? What happened?" He was asking too much too soon, but his head was spinning. He'd kill whoever did this, and if he couldn't he'd send someone to do it. Though he wanted the honor of ripping out their entrails himself. His slender arms snaked around her body, his lips finding hers without hesitation. "I was so scared I lost you." He whispered against her lips before claiming them again in a heated embrace.

He chuckled, his lips turned up and his eyes crinkled and she noticed then — oh no, he was cute. Oh no, he was cute, and she was practically insulting him by insinuating he was some kind of stalker, of all things. With very little preservation skills, far too trusting, her guard was dropped immediately, feeling a little bad now that she'd scared him. And threatened him! Way to go, Anna, way to go.
"Oh, I'm— I wasn't saying you were weird... weirdly gorgeous, maybe." Was she making this worse somehow? Why did she say that? Without taking a moment to think her words through, she continued to ramble hoping she could magically say something that made sense and didn't make her look like a bumbling fool. "This is awkward. Not you're awkward, we're... I'm awkward. I'm sorry. I'm Anna. I've... I think I've had too much caffeine today!"
Hans chuckled at her nervous babbling, he knew he could have a devastating effect on women, but it was always welcomed to see them fluster over him in public. Especially if that person was part of a royal bloodline--if his research proved him correct. "Huh that's funny 'cause I was on my way over here to tell you pretty much the same thing." He grinned, letting his gaze trail over her pretty face and twinkling eyes, she was cute. "Not the weird part of course." he added with a playful wink.
Hans inched forward, leaning into her giddy composure with an amused smile on his face. It was cute--this was cute, Anna was undoubtedly a sweet girl from what he observed and maybe he could work that to his advantage. "Nice to meet you, awkward" he teased, extending a hand towards her to shake. "I'm Hans. Maybe we could grab a cup of chamomile tea together something? Or coffee if its more your thing Anna."
"Everyone seems to forget how cute Brian was." Molly had only been half listening, in a bit of a weird head space since her brother had seemed to fall off the face of the earth... but this conversation was one she was happy to jump into. "If we're being honest, though, NSYNC had some of the catchier songs."
"I suppose Brian was like underrated but I blame the stylists. They never gave him the chance to shine." Abby mused, combing through her hair as she pictured her top tier crushes, would they ever come to this small town? Probably not and that sucked. "Yeah" she sighed "Its too bad the reunions didn't work for them. Maybe its Justin's fault."

Jack hadn't slept yet. (The yet was more of an 'if' he would.) He was riding an adrenaline high that resulted in him with a boost of writer's muse. Scribbling away furiously into his journal Jack never noticed Zane enter the kitchen. His footsteps must have been light as a ghost with how quiet he had been. Even when he spoke up to himself Jack didn't notice Zane. It wasn't until he heard his own name come out in a startled tone that he looked up. "I...don't know." He looked at the time on his watch and furrowed his brow. "I suppose I have." He looked over at Zane, his own cup of coffee he'd had now in his hand as he took a sip. After setting the mug down he stood up and stretched his arms out and yawned. Disheveled hair rested just above his eyes and he smoothed it back in attempt to look somewhat put together. "Did you sleep through your alarms again?" Jack had never heard them go off has he had been so hyper fixated on his writing. For once. A smile crossed over Jack's features as he looked at Zane. "Well, it's already late. No use in going to sleep now," he stated in regards to him not sleeping at all. "What's your plan for the day? I should probably take a break from writing but I also don't want to lose the streak I'm on."
"You don't .. know?" Zane repeated, an eyebrow raised in both confusion and concern. Zane knew Jack could easily fall into a creative abyss and let the entire world whirl by him, he just wished he had found his friend before an entire night had passed. Zane watched Jack over the lip of his mug as he sipped on the coffee warming his always cold bones, nothing on Jack's face to indicate he hadn't slept-- the man was a statute of professionalism at every turn. Zane wasn't quite sure how his pal constantly achieved it. "Haha--yes, yes I did. You know I've been drinking like so much coffee and its like--not working. So I don't know maybe I'm cursed." Zane confessed with a careless shrug of his shoulders, even if the heavy slumbers were adding to his ever-growing list of anxieties. Small coma's alongside the missing people didn't equate to anything good-- and Zane didn't need Dipper to be here to tell him that, and he also couldn't dwell on that fact either. He huffed a laugh at Jack's words, wondering how the man would survive past noon without sleep when he certainly couldn't. "I was gonna' swing by the hotel and check on Mavis and Sib" Zane explained, not having much planned at all. He cocked his head to the side with a curious grin "Sick-- what have you been working on?"

Zane stretched his arms out in a yawn as he stumbled down the hallway on muscle memory alone, not even convinced his brain was functioning this early. He'd been sleeping like the dead lately, not hearing alarms or drifting off watching TV. Maybe he just needed a higher dose of caffeine. He hummed to himself reaching the kitchen, his hands lazily slapping cupboards until he found the right one and reached for a clean mug. "Sweet nectar of the gods" he smiled reaching for the pot of coffee and filling up his mug to the lip. He spun around to take a seat at the table, but braced himself against the counter in shock. "Shit Jack-- sometimes I forget you live here. --You been in here long?"

Thomas shook his head in quiet sadness, as he watched Paz continue on with her shift. He couldn't imagine, didn't want to begin to think about the devastation in her poor heart, lugging it around a diner all day. It was awful that despite the dozens missing life went on-- that bills needed to be paid-- that businesses needed to stay open, even if he was missing half his staff. Thomas tried not to think of little Eeyore, of the horrors she might face, possibly alone and terrified out of her mind.
As casually as he could, blinking away the tears clouding his vision, Thomas fixed up a big mug of hot chocolate with all the trimmings, setting it down on the counter in front of Paz. "A hug in a cup" he offered with a smile of little enthusiasm, why bother pretending anyone was happy to be here. "You need to talk about it kiddo?"

Anna wasn't the most observant person. She noticed pretty flowers, the scent of chocolate in the air, cute puppies, all of the little things... but she could be a little clueless when it came to staying safe, people's intentions, all of the important things she'd never had to worry about locked behind her castle walls. But today, maybe it was the lack of music in her ears, maybe it was just an eerie feeling that carried over from the thought of everyone going missing, but she was sure someone was tailing her. Turning a corner, then another to ensure it wasn't a coincidence, she spun on her heel, jabbing her pointer finger at the person she was now facing. If she was onto something, this wasn't exactly the smartest way to handle it, but she hoped there were enough people around to notice if someone tried to nab her. "Are you following me? I know karate, buddy, and I have pepper spray!"
Hans was calculating, in a family of thirteen boys he had to be. Had to wait it out, biding his time until the right opportunity presented itself--it was how he survived all those torturous years of adolescence. Patience. It wasn't any different in Evermore, or difficult, to name and profile the families with titles, swanning around with a careless demeanor he couldn't afford. Not when the weight of his future hung heavy on his shoulders. Anna wasn't his first choice.. but she was certainly more approachable than the other royals he'd tried to swindle.
Hans had been casually in her vicinity multiple times this week alone, getting a feel for her routine before he decided to sink his claws further into her life. He sauntered through the street a couple yards away, turning after her when he came to a halt at her accusing tone and gesture. "Jesus! You scared the shit out of me!" he chuckled, looking down at her pretty face. "I don't doubt you could kick my ass-- but i wasn't following you" he confessed. "At least not in the weird way you're thinking."
It took all of Ralph's self control not to laugh; there was some sort of contagious positivity that followed Abby, she was the type of person he was sure if he spent more time around could make him a better one. "Just this once," he replied after a moment, his tone serious despite the smile that threatened his lips. His offense over being called old had lasted all of five seconds. He was used to it with Van. "But only because you got chocolate, and you called me a young person."
Abby was practically holding her breath waiting for Ralph's reaction, she couldn't blame him if he told her to get lost but she beamed from ear to ear in delight as he forgave her and accepted her truce-treat. "Oh thank god-- for a second there I thought you were gonna' get all tough guy on me. And I might have cried" she laughed, taking a seat next to him. "Young person, young man, boy man? Man boy? .. ah too many choices. Lets just go with guy or dude."
Anya couldn't explain it, but there was a way this guy worded things that made her skin all prickly. "I don't know....I feel like even this is kind of implying they're all dead. And I don't think they're dead..." She didn't really know why that was. Maybe it was whatever magic she had in her, maybe it was just a gut feeling but she...just couldn't accept that fate. "Maybe we should aim for a town search party instead....this town is weird and has a lot of interesting properties so maybe they are somewhere around here that no one normally would go near."
"That's true, they might not be dead.. however it doesn't make it any less devastating to the families, right?" He asked, his eyes taking in the sight of the woman who seemed to have a stronger opinion on the missing folk than he did. He shrugged at her suggestion, it wasn't a bad one, but he didn't really care for getting dirty to gain nothing in return. "What if the search party goes missing? What if.. we all just start dropping like flies. Kind of makes you want to live in the moment, no?"

Luis was seeing red. The fact he could control himself at all was a miracle and he hardly believed in those. Not when people up and disappeared into thin air. Not when Shona, not Rei - the list felt like it went on and where there had been a thread of control left inside of him, all that remained was a frayed piece. His fists flew out around him, destroying everything in his path until he could finally take a breath and scream.
Hans had been trying to mold this little blip to his advantage in any way he could, a lot of the missing people offered no connections or money worth investigating-- but Oz Godfrey with defenses down? That might just work. Walking into the Casino lounge, Hans let out a dramatic sigh as he watched Luis erupt with more gusto than a volcano. He cleared his throat from his spot at the bar. "So.. I take it you're closed today?"
