I was rewatching Hannibal and noticed something banal that I hadn't noticed before. In this scene, Franklyn says that he is not afraid of loneliness, but he is afraid of pain.

And then Hannibal hesitates a little with his answer, as if he doesn’t want to admit it. But soon he answers:

And right after this dialogue we are shown this scene:

Hannibal feels the dull ache Franklyn spoke of. Because Will brightened his loneliness, but he didn't come that evening. Shortly before this scene, Bedelia said that Hannibal must be lonely, hiding behind a social suit. To which he replied: «I have friends». I am once again convinced that it was only after meeting Will that Hannibal understood the sincerity of this definition. This was the first time I watched therapy with Franklyn without the fun.

no tv show will ever be able to resolve a m/m/f love triangle as perfectly and as weirdly as Hannibal, in which the woman kisses one of the guys, sleeps with the other one, then decides "actually, never mind, you're both awful!" and marries a rich lesbian instead - and, while this is all going on, the guys develop a weird homoerotic obsession with each other culminating in them going off a cliff together. truly unhinged and unmatched
