The mortal majority of Fiddlehead and the world, companion to many PAS and the origin of many a werewolf, vampire, or witch. There is strength in versatility, and nothing is quite so full of possibility as a mundane human. In the world of Fiddlehead, it is possible to start a human and become something else with time, practice, or community connection - or enjoy those communities without compromising that humanity at all. Humans may join one of the tracks (or none!) to find their way in Fiddlehead.
Humans feeding on vampire blood, but not yet turned. So the story goes, the longer you’re a ghoul, the easier you turn, and the stronger you’ll be when you reanimate. They also tend to live longer, experience slightly boosted reflexes and strength, and some experience phantom thirst— an echo of their donor’s bloodlust.
Witches generally start out as humans who are particularly in tune with the magical energy that supports castercraft. This manifests as traditionally psychic abilities: telekinesis, divination or telepathy. When cultivated, these powers grow more powerful; when apprenticed to a witch, they bloom.
PACK-BONDED - Werewolf Track
Humans can be accepted among the pack in myriad ways; a human child of a werewolf parent, a human spouse to a werewolf, a beloved friend of many years, even an especially close co-worker to a werewolf can experience the benefits of being pack-bonded. They are the only humans completely safe near shifted packmates on full moons, and may experience a mutual, sympathetic awareness of the rest of the pack. If they’re distressed, hurt, in need, or just lonely, every member of the pack will drop what they’re doing to come to their aid just as they would for another wolf.
Humans who have been claimed for a dragon’s hoard might be connected in any number of ways — perhaps they’re a tenant in a dragon’s apartment building, an employee at their company, or a member of their social club. Regardless, they enjoy the benefits of a dragon’s favor, including money, influence, personal attention and care, and safe access to the den of their dragon. While they’ll never become a dragon, they may well become family.... so long as they’re comfortable with staying indefinitely. A dragon will not often react well to a member of their hoard attempting to abandon them.
Humans who are followed, for one reason or another, by an undead companion. This ghost may be malicious or benign toward their haunted, and the human may experience phantom sensations of touch or sound, objects moved about their house or other spaces by phantom hands, or feel phantom eyes on them when they are alone. They may be in good communication with their ghost, well aware of and conscious of their presence, or they may simply feel chased by these phantasmal experiences — and a tendency for electronics to fail when they’re around.
