"Everyone's chronically ill nowadays.. surely this means everyone is faking"
Are you forgetting that COVID was a mass disabling event? That COVID never "ended"? That COVID severely impacted millions?
It's like.. you're so close. You're so close to the point. Please just think a little bit more instead of throwing logic out of the closest window and making ableist assumptions
You cannot vibes your way to protection. Sensors exist and should be deployed ubiquitously! High CO2 levels can reduce mental function and cause brain damage as well as transmit disease for longer at higher rates.

On AI in fandom spaces
Since some AI creations have been circling around in the fandom, I thought it would be a good time to share my stance on AI in general.
The use of AI not only undermines the wonderful creative work of fans from around the world, but it actively steals from us.
An AI video is not a fan edit. An AI image is not fanart. An AI text (for crying out loud) is not fanfiction.
If we make exceptions whenever AI suits us, then we are no longer against AI. Because that same AI is making it harder and harder for creatives to make a living. Artists are no longer being paid. Translators are no longer being hired. Writers are more and more often accused of generating their own work - because AI is getting better at stealing and emulating human writing.
As a writer myself, it's hard watching AI evolve, especially text generators, because it's literally threatening to steal, replace, and take away my writing and my dreams of becoming a published author (I mean maybe it already has stolen from me. After all, I have almost 700k words worth of stories online).
Maybe we won't be able to hold AI back, but the least we can do is refuse AI without exception, and support the artists that put in hours and hours of labor into creating something for the community.
"But what if people will pretend to need this accessibility option so they can be lazy! People who don't need it will use it!!" I don't actually care
I dont care if 9/10 of the people who use the wheelchair ramp arent actually in wheelchairs. As long as the 1 person who needs it has access to it.
I dont care if 9/10 people who use the automatic push button on the library door can actually push the door open themselves. As long as the 1 person who the door is too heavy for gets to use it.
I dont care if 9/10 people who buy the can tab opener, or the little guitar clamp that holds the chords for you, or the hand grip that helps you hold chop sticks, don't need any of it and just get it to "be lazy". As long as the one disabled person who needs it gets access to it.
I do not care. Oh my GOD I do not care. As long as there's a disabled person on this planet who the accessibility device will benefit, the accessibility device is necessary.
Also, if you're so worried about people being "lazy" by using accessibility devices, MORE worried than you are about disabled (visibly or not) people not having access to them, you have unchecked ableism you need to work through.

i do have a favourite Damon trait. it's the face cradling one.

Like I keep saying, there are millions of good reasons of mask. Respirators save and extend lives.
benefits of wearing a mask in public, indoor spaces
vague acquaintances don't recognize me and stop me to chat
men haven't told me to smile in years
make any facial expression i want with zero self consciousness/no need to police my expressions
covers up any zits on the lower half of my face plus those winter-dry-air lip splits I inevitably get
fewer allergies/asthma from people's heavy perfume/body spray
i don't catch every sniffle and cough that goes around
oh yeah and I DON'T CATCH COVID
