Paul Ryanâs latest Instagram post reveals a major problem with political representation
On Saturday, House Speaker Paul Ryan snapped a selfie with a large â and largely homogenous â pool of Capitol Hill interns and posted it to Instagram. In light of the pictureâs racial makeup, his caption struck many users as somewhat tone deaf. Unfortunately, the photo reflects the very white reality of Capitol Hill.
Update:Â House Speaker Paul Ryan released a remarkably white selfie Sunday with Capitol Hill interns. Now, writer and journalist Colleen Mondor just offered the perfect response.
It goes beyond race, gender and ability. The DNC interns are just as diverse in their pursuits, interest and backgrounds.Â
Update:Â Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, a congresswoman from Texas, just took this to the next level by showing the Democratic Interns working at the Capital.Â
Johnson isnât the only person to point out the striking difference between the two classes of interns.

so Johnny Depp has been exposed by his wife as an abuser & she has a restraining order against him. Iâm gonna say this once and once only, people: Iâm straight out of patience for abuse apologists who are already coming out of the woodwork defending him. what is wrong with you? youâre halfway up his ass because he was once cute or something, meanwhile youâve sent a message to abusers everywhere once again that itâs ok for them to remain powerful, idolized, loved influences in the spotlight. youâve sent a message to abuse survivors everywhere that they are dishonest, untrustworthy fakes who deserve no justice.Â
seriously, stop worshiping the ground these men walk on, many of them are trash long before theyâre called on abuse but their fanbase is willing to stay silent the whole time.  Depp has redfaced and appropriated indigenous regalia and imagery and played an indigenous character as well as defended Roman Polanski, a convicted child rapist. you should not have supported him through that, and you should not support him now, when his wife has come forward.Â
do not hesitate to denounce Johnny Depp. do not hesitate to denounce every other powerful man who is exposed as an abuser. do not mourn the decline of their careers. do not feel you have to revere them or continue to uphold them as icons. do not continue to support them having a platform of influence. stand with abuse survivors.Â
I am like really over being sad brain like can we stop this
