Heyo, I'm Hopper, welcome to the Sonic sideblog. I wanted a spot to dump my headcanons and worldbuilding ideas, so here we are.

I'm a very sarcastic person and I like to exaggerate for comedic effect. Usually, if I sound like I'm being inflammatory or aggressive, I'm joking. I am also tired almost 24/7; I will try to be clear about my intentions but I don't have the energy to scrutinize everything I say in order to use proper tone tags. If what I say is unclear, please communicate with me about it. I will also try to mark common content/trigger warnings where I can, but I can't do specific ones for everyone. If it really bothers you, I can try, but I can't guarantee I won't forget anything.

Silver lifted an eyebrow, but Tails refused to acknowledge it. Refused to admit that he felt better while on the move, and that returning would essentially be condemning them both to the fate of a sitting duck.

…nope. He wasn’t doing that to himself. It also didn’t matter how angry he was at Silver right now, he couldn’t do that to him, either. Especially not if they were supposed to be family. He stood, and brushed those thoughts off.

"Look," he pointed, noticing a sign nearby, "there’s a casino."

Silver frowned. "Didn’t think those places took kids our age."

"I can be very persuasive," Tails declared, grinning slyly.

Even though Silver didn’t look exactly convinced, he stood, and followed Tails anyway. "Since when?"

"Since I got into every casino on West Side Island when I was three," he snarked, and shrugged. "I mean, I’ve also been banned for life from most of them, so maybe that’s not the best example."

Chapter 30, the once-king and the future queen, is up!

That the Sonic the Hedgehog film series has increasingly felt the need to soften its source material's implicit criticism of state and police authority is very funny, because how gutless have you gotta be that an E-rated video game about a cartoon rat fighting evil robots is too political for your taste?

(To be clear, I'm not suggesting the Sonic the Hedgehog video games constitute some sort of anti-authoritarian manifesto; that the source material's implicit critique is so tepid and yet still a bridge too far is what pushes it over the line from business as usual to bad comedy.)

I think it would be so funny if there was a show about King Arthur and the knight of the Round Table where a different knight(s) joins the Round Table every episode and it gets to the point where the cast is like 500 people and absolutely no one is acknowledging that there are like 400 people in this court. Like a gratuitous amount of knights. The plot randomly pivots to knight or knights of the week and then back but it’s not an anthology exactly. Some of them die the same day they join, some randomly disappear from the story and others are technically there for the rest of the series but doing fuckall. Occasionally Arthur will be like “Where has Sir Whatever gone?” and everyone will shrug. Very important quest surrounding the major knights you’re expecting and a minor knight no one has seen for 5 seasons randomly joins in. You need a knightly spreadsheet to join in.

This is all handled very dryly by all the other characters, except for Arthur who occasionally breaks the 3rd wall, addresses the camera and says something like “This is all very confusing.” when the plot hits maximum ridiculousness.

There are several knights who do not speak Welsh and this is depicted by them speaking various dialects of old French and Gaulish and Brittonic splinter languages with a bar at the bottom that just says ‘I do not know what he is saying.’

Sometimes Arthur will be like “Where has Sir Whatever gone?” and someone is like “He has become a saint.” or “I believe he has become king of Dumnonia.” and there’s a random quick montage of this random knight getting up from the Round Table, riding out of Camelot and having religious visions or conquering an entire kingdom or drunkenly wandering all the way to Constantinople for no particular reason with the implication that this was all occurring while the other knights were debating a riddle or something asinine.

I think it would be so funny if the first shot of the series was Arthur sitting alone at a comedically large actually round table. Court utterly empty except for him and Sir Kay and like 2 guys from his father’s reign. And in the closing scene of the series he’s sitting in the same spot but there are hundreds of knights crammed into the room around him, sitting on each other’s laps, on the table, pressed flat against the walls to fit. They outgrew and surpassed this ridiculously large table several seasons ago and have been lowkey sitting on top of each other without addressing it.

re: one sided sonic ships

jet is the only one in the lineup who has actually managed to date sonic. normally i wouldn't entertain the thought of sonic in a relationship because i can't see a scenario where he would willingly go along with one, so to speak. however:

sonic and jet bring out the absolute worst in each other. they bring out the worst in each other SO easily. and this is incredibly funny to me. they get toxic yaoi privileges

because jet approaches his relationship with sonic the same way he approaches everything he does with sonic, or the same way he approaches basically everything. it is a challenge, it is a challenge and he is going to WIN. he is going to Win The Relationship. and. this would probably manifest as jet getting incredibly jealous/lowkey possessive and trying to monopolize sonic's time. if sonic isn't head over heels for jet and trying to include him in everything he does then jet is clearly losing the relationship somehow and We Can't Have That

sonic, meanwhile, doesn't. really care about jet. like he appreciates jet's company and respects him as a rival, it's just that jet's Problems(tm) are supplemented by actual, genuine romantic feelings for sonic, even though they're not being expressed in the best way, and these are feelings that sonic just does not return, think about, or really notice when they're not being explicitly displayed to him. (he's always aroace in my hcs. in my head this relationship happens before he really understands that about himself/has the vocabulary for it) sonic entered this relationship with a "eh sure im not really doing anything else rn" sort of mindset that leads him to be incredibly dismissive of jet when he starts getting "needy." and. like. jet is absolutely being possessive, but sonic would be dismissive and irritated with him even if he was just asking to spend a normal amount of time with him.

ironically, with the way this dynamic plays out in my headcanons, jet is the one being the most outwardly shitty, but sonic's constant dismissal/covert rejection of jet's actual genuine emotions mean that jet is the one who walks away from the inevitable breakup with the most genuine hurt. on the off chance that jet manages to hit sonic where it hurts (which does happen! just not as often) sonic is able to shake it off because jet is not nearly important enough to him for his words to hold any weight

and like. all of this could have been solved with proper communication. jet's problem is that he wants to insert himself as the most important person in sonic's life and refuses to accept anything less or else he's Losing, and sonic's problem is that he's constantly dismissive of jet's feelings even when they're being expressed in a really vulnerable way (which admittedly doesn't happen often, but still).

but both of them are too prideful to actually talk to each other and figure things out. so it's doomed to end in a horrifically messy split that sonic will forget about within three days and jet will seethe over for months. and then they either never talk about it again or jet goes "no if i try AGAIN im gonna WIN this time I'm GOING TO WIN" and sonic goes "jet you remember what happened last time, right? no? ok well if you're gonna keep bothering me about this i may as well get a free dinner out of it" and the cycle begins anew.

if jet actually like. told sonic that he was behaving in a really shitty way, sonic would probably at least Try to be more attentive (no guarantee that he still wouldn't be a dick about it, but he'd at least try). but because he isn't really paying attention, he doesnt realize that jet is actually legitimately hurt by any of his actions, and jet is too proud to admit that he's actually upset so sonic just assumes its their usual rival-y banter

like sonic doesn't mean to be an actual legitimate asshole to jet, but jet isn't communicating with him. and also he's. um. not really thinking it through. if he bothered to actually invest himself in their relationship he'd probably be able to figure it out on his own. but he isn't, so he doesn't

There is a 50% chance that in a situation he will be the voice of reason and come up with the best possible solution and keep everyone in line and on point.

There is a 50% chance he's about to do some bat shit insane off the walls plan without telling anyone but it's not an actual plan and he's pulling a full "fuck it LEROY JENKINS" move. No one knows what he's gonna do next not even himself.
