Attention College Seniors!

What are you going to do after you get your diploma?

This is something that goes through the mind of every college graduate. If you're lucky, you were already offered a job. Congratulations! However, not every graduate is as fortunate. For me, it took three months and the position I accepted was another internship. So if you are stuck in the same boat as I was, here is my advice:

1. Find an internship! 

Maybe your resume needs more experience. Finding an amazing internship could be something that's right for you. This is your chance to move away from home to a city that has more to offer. Once I finished my internship in D.C. with an advertising agency, I got more responses when I applied for jobs. Because it's a large city, I was also able to apply to other agencies in the area. 

2. Move!

Maybe the reason you can't find your dream job is because of your location. Take this opportunity to move to a city you've always wanted to live in. Once you are there, the chances of finding a job are a lot higher! Remember, this is the start of the rest of your career. Take a risk and explore new places!

3. Network!

Like old high school friends, it's important to reach out to former bosses and supervisors. Hopefully, these people have great advice to offer from their years of experience. They might even know someone that can help you find the job you're looking for! I suggest sending a friendly catch-up email every three months. 

Always check LinkedIn to see if any of your connections know employees at the companies you are applying to. I have had several letters of recommendation written to HR on my behalf for agencies I was applying for.
