Most Austen hero's are still loved and appreciated and relevant examples of gentlemanly behaviour primarily because they were written by a woman for other women's edification.

They understand consent, are kind and considerate and respectful and far far better because they're written with a female gaze instead of the mainstream patriarchally dominated capitalism.
