Samuel had finished up his shift, as a guard it was sometimes a hit or miss day. Sometimes he got to throw silly alphas on their asses and saving omegas and kids from running away by talking to them. He walked away from the border of the forest and back towards town. Deciding that he could relax more, he shed his shirt, and took the back way so that he could end up by the river quicker. As he neared the river, he got fully undressed, and moved closer towards it. Not sensing anyone around. After a few minutes of aimlessly swimming he got out of the water. “Oh hey… the water is great. You should have joined me!” He was being a lot nicer than he was, and he didn’t know why that was. “I can always go for another swim.”

It was one of those rare days that Finn gets the day off and He doesn't even remember the last time he got the day off but..usually finn would spend the day cooped up in his room watching tv but it was such a beautiful day out, how could he not enjoy it? Finn was on a bolder not too far from the river, Finn had his eyes clothes not really paying attention, or just ignoring what was around him, enjoying the sun as it shined down on his bare tanned, camel skin. His eyes automatically opened as he heard a voice nearby. And finn blinked..’’ Oh hey...uh that’s okay, I didn’t bring any extra clothes...wasn’t expecting to go swimming today.’’

Watching the animals run free was exhilarating. Bresha couldn’t contain his laughter. The horses darted powerfully about, the sheep fluttered around in clumps like clouds, and the large cows seemed to be unbothered but happy to be grazing free. Granted, he did have a vested interest considering he was the one to slide the barn door open a crack and unlatched the animals’ pens, but he couldn’t have possibly predicted that the animals would get out. This belief held firm as he got called out, his expression shifting from amused to serious in a second. “Who me? No, I don’t know the first thing about ranch animals. I hardly come near them. I just saw the ruckus and thought it best not to miss the show.” He stood leaning against the corral fence, trying not to seem prideful. “Whichever ranchhands are working today will have quite a story to tell their sweethearts, huh?”

‘‘ Do you take me for a fool?’‘ Finn asked him with a serious expression on his face, clearly Finn heard the faint laughter coming from the other...I mean the man was standing by the corral fence that was open, Finn eyes glanced from the horses dancing around the field freely and happily...damn they have been cooped up and the cows...they were just chewing grass and mooing and others were just casually walking the fields. ‘‘ Right....well you are the only person here so besides..I am gonna assume you let them out so...’‘ The other ranch-hands were else where probably doing something else on the farm.

Finn was in the chicken coop collecting all the eggs for the day, in his little basket. Today weather wasn’t so bad, maybe he could bring the animals out of the barn and into the fields today. Finn thought to himself...’’ I am sure the horses and cows would enjoy basking in the sun…and eating grass of course like they always do.’’ Finn muttered to himself but then he heard some noise outside, sounded like mooing and stirring. ‘’ What the fuck is going on.’’ Finn walked out of the coop and stood there stunned as the horses were just running around….out of the boundaries of the barn. ‘’ You gotta be fucking kidding me…’’ Finn looked around..did he forget to lock the gate...but then his eyes zoomed in on the man who was behind it all...he thought. ‘’ Hey...did you do this?’’

Being the center of attention and always managing to bring a smile to people’s faces has easily become Roman’s reputation as the friendly bard of Athos. But even though he did enjoy being people’s joy, there were times where he needed to be on his own. Focus on himself and feel no pressure to worry about anyone and just decompress.

That’s why he found himself in the fields of some farm, he didn’t know who it belonged to, but that didn’t matter. All that was important at the very moment was the had some peace. The night was beautiful, and the night’s breeze was cool on his skin. So he found himself removing the shirt he wore to better enjoy the calming wind. He began to hum a tune that even the cows found enjoyable, and soon enough, they sang along with him. It did bring a smile to his face.

Roman, however, didn’t expect that his presence would disturb the farmhand. Or that the farmhand would be this beautiful. “I apologize, I didn’t think I would have been a bother,” he said, his eyes looking him up and down, inspecting the funny fabric he was draped with. “But if you would like, you can join me. Maybe I can sing you back to sleep?”

Finn was not uncommon to have unwanted visitors on the farm, I mean the Sabra pack was all about livestock after all so it wasn't unusual that it would attract a good amount of people...but at nighttime? ‘’ It is beautiful tonight...so I can understand looking up at the sky..gazing at the stars.’’ He said glancing up at the sky then back down at the beautiful man. ‘’ No your not a bother at all..just wasn’t expecting anybody to be out here.’’ No wonder the cows were mooing.’’ Uh I’ll join you...’’ he smiled ‘’ You sing?’’ Finn asked as he slowly sat down in the grass beside the other.

“So where would you want to do this?” Will begun to ask, his hands fiddling around a belt hoop on his own pants. “Is there like a barn somewhere near here?” Will looks at their surroundings, hoping he wouldn’t have to worry about corn worms while they were busy. “I mean, I wouldn’t mind being out here either. Whatever’s best for you.” He swatted at the blowflies that kept on trying to stand on him.

‘‘ Uh we can do in the barn. The cows are out in the field now so...We should be fine in there.’‘ It wasn’t the best place to do things but hey if that’s what the man wanted to do..’‘ Or we can do it out here or in the farm house.’‘ Finn suggested.

“You don’t have to thank me, I am just being honest,” he replied smiling at the other. Wesley knew how much sleep and rest was important and so he always encouraged members of his own Pack and others in general to get plenty of rest. “Do you still have a lot more job to do?”’

‘‘ Well either way, I appreciate it.’‘ Finn grins at Wesley. Wesley was right though...he did need to focus on sleep and his own self care..cause he has been neglecting himself a lot lately...more and more. ‘‘ Uh I have a few things left before I am done for the day, just small task. I get the things that take longer out of the way first.’‘

“Not exactly the kind of milk I was waiting on.” Will had a grin on his face, looking the farmhand over. The alpha swallowed dryly, scratching the back of his neck before he continued on, “Look, I know I told you I wouldn’t come to you while you worked like we agreed, but it’s been a really hard day and really need, really next to scratch this itch.”

“If it helps, I can offer up labor?” Will suggested , “I can offer a week. Two weeks? Okay a month. I’ll help you in barns for a month if you do this for me.”

‘’ Oh?’‘ Finn ached his eyebrows, seeing the grin on the others face...clearly he had alternative motives, especially when he was attempting strike some kind of ‘deal’ with Finn. ‘’ Yeah you did but its alright, I can do for a short little break.’‘ Finn added.

‘‘ Scratch an inch huh.’‘

‘‘ Like helping around the ranch?’‘ Finn thought about it..they were a few ranch-hands around but they were only a handful of us and any additional help would be great. ‘‘ A month? I mean I wouldn’t turn down that offer down...ok sure.’‘

Nik looked down to the male and smiled a little at him. “Well hey there.” he admitted to finn. He moved over to the male. “It very is peaceful,” he agreed with the male. “What’s been happening? what have I missed?” nik wondered. he would have so much to catch up on now he was back.

‘‘ Hello..’‘ Finn looked up at Nik, who moved a bit closer to where he was sitting. ‘‘ It is...so glad it has not gotten too cold here yet.’‘ He commented. ‘‘ Uh nothing much...a certain somebody is having puppies. She should be due any day now.’‘ Fin added.

It was odd how the Alpha had been the first to note the other, given the fact that he had one bad eye, but he supposed the other had been entranced by the beauty that Mother Wolf bestowed and Selene illuminated in the glow of the night sky. It was understandable, really - this place almost seemed like it had been plucked from one of the finest paintings his father had presented to his mother when he was a pup - but even still, a wolf should’ve had better senses.

Though it was certainly something he could say for himself.

“My apologies,” he apologized again, though he had to bite back venom this time. Apologizing to an Omega, twice? That wasn’t something that sit well with him. If anything, he felt as though the Omega needed to apologize to him - but that wasn’t something he was going to voice, nor would he ever. No one needed to know that he was a traditionalist, one that viewed that all Omegas were bred to serve an Alpha.

“I take it you couldn’t sleep, either?”

Damn that was a little dangerous, Finn was just now realizing the man was there floating in the water as well…he could have ripped his neck open quite easily especially since Finn’s back was turned as well. Plus, it wasn’t good that Finn was only surviving on 5 hours of sleep right now as well so all of his senses weren’t sharp as they should be.

Finn was just so distracted by the cold water that his skin was soaking up and the moon as they shinned down onto the lake…making a glimmering light, it was amazingly beautiful tonight.

Finn shook his head and smiled, showing off his pearly whites. ‘’ No it’s alright…I should have been paid more attention to my surroundings especially so late in the night like this.’’ Finn added.

‘’ Yeah…haven’t been able sleep properly for a while now.’’

@a-bardaday Cold sweats caked Finn’s forehead as he slowly rose onto his feet, standing inches away from his bed. Another round of nightmares corrupting his mind for another night...’’ When am I ever going to get a peaceful night of sleep.’’ He’d muttered to himself, it was 4th night in a row, that these nightmares keeping happening...will these traumatic nightmares ever end?

Finn walked over to end of the bed, grabbing his white tank top and gym shorts and gradually put them on as he made to the door and eventually out of the house, maybe a good 30 min walk will tire Finn out. Finn started walk down the path barefoot of course, that lead from his little house to the farm that wasn’t too far from here.

As Finn got closer he heard the cows mooing and string in the barn...maybe they were restless too. Finn walked closer and closer to the barn...then in the corner of his eye not too far from the bar...he saw a man laying in the grass who seemed to be shirtless. ‘’ Uh...sir..why are you here..the barn isn’t even open right now.’’

‘‘ Fucking fuck...’‘ Finn as he looked down at his twisted ankle. Who knew that cattle and ranch work would be so fucking dangerous and tedious but he certainly didn’t know this kind of work would ended up with you getting a freaking twisted ankle. Finn was handling a few stacks of hay and I guess as he was trying to place them in the barn...he turned his foot a different direction than his body was going and all of a sudden he’d felt this intense pain and he dropped to the floor, in agony...forgetting he was holding the hay stacks and they too fumbled onto the ground.

An hour or two later, Finn had his eyes closed as he sat in the infirmary, his eyes shut wide open soon as he heard foot steps coming closer and closer towards as the male slowly started to come into view.

‘’ I am guessing you are the healer that’s gonna fix my ankle?’’ Finn muttered

I understand that there are some days when you need rest and after all, rest is very important,” he replied with a smile on his face as he looked at the other. “Well, you do a good job and you and the others as well. It’s because of you and how amazing you work and take care of the animals that quality of our food and milk for example are excellent.”

‘‘ Well thank you, Wesley...I really appreciate that. And you are right, rest is very important.’‘ Maybe it was all the stress and lack of sleep that was starting to Finn a bit but he tries his best to make sure it didn’t affect his ability to work effectively on the ranch. ‘‘ That means a lot coming from you, thank you.’‘ Finn smiled sweetly, something like that could make him tear up but he wouldn’t do that in front of Wesley here.

Wesley finished talking to one of the omegas who was helping out with an animal and so he decided to just take a stroll when he came across Finn and smiled. “That’s amazing, I know the pups would love that and would like it before bed,” he replied smiling looking at the male.

Finn heard some foot steps coming closer and closer, he wasn’t surprised to see it was Wesley, he’s seen Wesley walking around the ranch before so it was nothing uncommon ‘‘ Yeah, I am not much of a diary person but I do have to say, not sure how those cow’s do it but it is some nice tasting milk.’‘ Finn smiles, ‘’ It’s not done yet...sorry starting things a little late today..overslept a little bit but yeah I will bring it to you when it’s done.’‘

Nightmares. Oh, how he loathed nightmares. Twenty years after his trauma, he was still plagued by nightmares that kept him awake at night, sweating profusely and praying to Mother Wolf for the strength to get past this. Having his mate’s arms wrapped around him helped, sure, but it didn’t stop him from lying in bed, staring up at the wooden slats of the ceiling as he yearned for the will to sleep. But after a couple of hours, with the nightingale still singing its song, he realized he wasn’t going to get to sleep.

Not unless he found a way to exhaust himself.

Pressing a kiss to his lover’s temple, he rose from his bed and hurried out of the home, being careful to not wake any of the pups that slept in the cabin - little Arabella and Iris sleeping together on the floor near the hearth - before he hurried to the tree line. Still naked from his slumber, he didn’t have any clothes to shed as he reached a hidden lake near the mountains - a place that he had found on one of his many expeditions to find good wood.

Diving into the water’s edge, he let the water wash away all of the negative thoughts he was having, all of the worries and wonders that his nightmares always brought up with him, and he wondered if maybe the reason they nightmares seemed to have gotten more frequent was because the letters that have been sent by a man claiming to his father. Could there be a connection there?

Rising from the depth of the water, though, he realized that he wasn’t alone and he let out a much-needed breath, broad shoulders and thick chest rising and falling with the intake of air, and he chuckled under his breath. “My apologies… I hadn’t realized anyone else was out here. I hope I’m not intruding.”

Finn was honestly use to not sleeping well at night, since his mother passed a few years ago. It seems like he has never gotten a peaceful night sleep since then. Her death was very traumatic for him…since joining the pack...Finn feels like he’s a bit more protected now that he’s in a pack and has a community around him but still can’t shake off this vulnerable feeling.

It was always a habit of Finn’s to take a swim at the lake it always made him sleep a little bit better. Finn was beneath the water swimming around then slowly he resurfaced, had his back turned…Finn’s hands were raised, wiping some of the water on his face. Everything completely semi silent and still until a voice out of no where. Finn jerked his body around and faced the man. ‘’ Shit man, you scared the fuck out of me…’’
