so, we know for sure that the grabber did sexually assault presumably all (if not most of) his victims pre-finney. but are we meant to assume he did indeed also assault finney? obviously if he did we didn’t see it for a reason, but timeline-wise i’m not sure where that would have happened without some other non-explicit indicator. the sequel’s tone and language is definitely painted with shades of a rape aftermath narrative, but it’s also totally believable for any of those elements to be the result of having been kidnapped by a probable rapist even if they did not rape you specifically.

the way griffin and vance reference it makes it seem as if the assault would happen after they “lost” the game, but we saw the direct aftermath of that with finn. my assumption is that it would take place after the boys were beaten, but before they were killed, which finn was able to avoid by killing the grabber before he could beat him. but i’d like to hear other ideas from those who have a different interpretation of events

#sorry i know this is a dark thing to ponder #but with some of the stuff the sequel brought up and the discussion it sparked it’s been on my mind a bit #obviously its fine to interpret finn explicitly as a rape victim i actually enjoy the interpretation myself #and god knows i’ve projected on characters with far less material for it than him lol #but i do also like the unique spot he’d be in had he not experienced explicit sexual assault and more the threat of it #it’s not something i’ve seen represented so in-depth that often #but it is something that happens and is very traumatizing in its own right #so. overall i just love finn and all the ways he can be interpreted as a character and what they mean for the narrative #rape mention #sa mention #tw rape #tw sexual assault #the black phone #black phone 2 #finney blake

sigh. i have my gripes with the sequel believe me (saving a comprehensive post about that for when i can rewatch) and some Do have to do with gwen and the plot surrounding her. but the way some of u are talking about her and the shift in focus towards her point of view is a little ridiculous and frankly approaching misogynistic territory
