On Anthony . Well initially I thought he was juts an evil crazy scientist with no empathy for others , from his cruel behaviour towards Clem in the 2nd book. BUT in the 3rd book her humanised him slightly with Natalie and his kindness to Mercer and Lydia in the 4th book, giving back the Holy Gold AS WELL AS the chemical make up of Lydiaās medicine , to be given to Clem, made him slightly likeable for the begin of the novella.
He juts seems to prioritise science over others well beings , seems like a complex or something .
Also I am a fan of a typical Romance, like even if itās dark I need them to show genuine care and to like one another . Iām unsure how this preference will change my opinion of the Novella due to the Writer stating it isnāt a romance but it is romantic . It seem to be more an introspective on human( vampire) nature , about how we make mistakes and need connection in any form. This is what I guess form the foreword .

Before I begin Iād like to say that on the reread my opinions have changed about some things especially the character of Natalie. But I havenāt changed my review juts for ease :)

I LOVED THAT THEY (as in the other main characters) ALL TURNED UP LIKE it had the same vibes if the muppets film when āthey get the gang back together ā. Like they all turned up . And I realised that Andres is the one who spoke to Clem in book two at the end about a āsituationshipā AND Shane is the journalist who spoke to Vince in the first book about media and how memes effect prejudice against vampires . Like yayayaya . It made me so Happy that by the end they were like a found family (may or may not have had a little cry)
Out of all of the relationship ending conflicts this is one I swear ended in record time like wow that was cleared up quickly, whihc I appreciate cause I canāt deal with the emotions turmoil .
Not to disrespect the dead but FUCK MAUL and by the end I quite liked Natalie and their like martyr (supposed) death (they havenāt show the body and no oneās sure where she is sooo could be alive )
OMFG I PREDICTED LIKE NON OF THE PLOT TWOST LIKE WHAT DO YOU MEANN SHANES MATE NATALIE IS ALSO ANDRES COUSIN LIKE I WAS GOBSMACKED !!
Tbh I always find it satisfying the fact that Shane had a crush on two Separate people who turned out to be both Andres BUT I totally get the whole āhe tricked Meā a very valid response . And it wasnāt like an accident betrayal of trust like Andres was thinking constantly about how itās wrong sooo I liked this one more then then 1st and 2nds conflicts which felt to have better intentions behind then or feel genuinely and clearly guilty thought out.
I was kinda in so much shock from it all falling down I couldnāt really comput the theme of police brutality that was brought up . Then they straight after brought up a genuine heartbreaking tragic backstory like ā¦Nahh.
I did read the content warning before hand but I brushed off he warning of PTSD since I genuine thought it didnāt effect me, I was wrong I sobbed and bawled like a baby for so fucking long to a point where I was juts hiccuping . Also Andres was more C-PTSD is your gonna nit pick .
Tbh mascarade balls always give phantom fo he opera like the vibes at the beginning very phantom of the opera (as stated by the parasite in my head many times about Andres lmao)
Also loved the continued motif of Cygnus and the tragic myth behind that and the ending damnnn it was dramatic , like I could imagine it all playing out !
So far I think it mayyy be the best of the series so far HOWEVER the confusion due to the lack of explaining around their first meeting , like I wanted to read the short story which explained it but I had to pay for it so I didnāt , but I felt like if I did it would make more sense and Iād be less unsure on parts and their like dynamic would be easier to understand if that short story was like a prologue OR one of the free short storyās taht come in the newsletter .
But that juts me being fussy and trying to find flaws so all in all good book :)

Hey, I just finished my reread of How to sell your blood and Fall In Love by D.N.Bryn. So here is my initial review again:

The representation in THSI book was banging : like idk if the chronic pain was well described and written but I felt like it was accessible in description of it . LOVED THE AUTISTIC REPRESENTATION!! like it meant a lot to me since I realised it was the first book where a character who shoes autistic traits was viewed as desirable/a love interest WITHOUT being changed in anyway. And I love how like well it was written , I swear I could ahve played bingo on stuff I did and stuff Clem did but that made me feel so seen and happy. (Itās why the book went from 4 to 5 stars)
Iām a sucker for interconnecting stories or characters (which is why I like Love Actually so much ) so I was so hyped whenever Wes and Vince turned up. Also love how they made Wesās tage āWager1ā as in the title of the last book, clever af also means I didnāt have to Remember Wesās tag from the last book, since I forgot . Also Iāve got a feeling that they conflict will always be a heart wrenching accidental (well intended) betrayal with links to that evil pharmaceutical company (I canāt be asked to spell it ) .
The PLOT TWISTS!! Weāre so good ,even if I predicted a few of them, but tbh I didnāt predict all of them (and my autistic ass normally predict twists ) but juts to mention I LOVED the on going mystery of What Justin did to end up there with so much guilt, like the Jose mystery which was super surprising AND ONG DID I HATE ANTONYS GUTS but damn I didnāt predict like anything he did .
There so many quote I could say were my favourite quote or moment cause OMFG it was so good like so many analogies of vampirism as a disability or as queerness or as like unconditional acceptance. And gods do I love a good analogy.
The only complaints is that it nearly made me cry in the car, Justinās reluctantly to accept his own happiness and what he deserved and I understood why , it was juts SOOOO FRUSTRATING!! it took me a while to warm up to the characters but that might be cause I took a break of reading BUT by the end I LOVED ALL OF THEM!!
P.S.thank you D.N.Bryn for writing this ,enabling myslef to see someone who thinks like me in a book this damn good !

I will not be discussing the age-gap elephant in the room.
53%-The first half is actually quite a sweet book .
I kinda had a feeling the whole time that Cole was an ass . Like I could just feel it.
The whole Pike letting her stay after the break up, unrealisticly kind ?yes. Quite an easy thing to understand why heād do that in a fictional world ? Yep .
I wasnāt a fan of the the damn full names . Like when it when to Pikes pic at the Grounder and alllllll the builders and nearly eveyone there had full names . Not super useful , kinda reminded me of the fight scenes in the Aeneid, lots of irrelevant names.
But I think by doing that it did easily come across that it was the small town where everyone knew everyone and that Pike was familiar with nearly everyone. Which I think was actually quite a good use of first person pov even if it doesnāt help the reader , it kinda helped almost the context or set of the book? In a way that itās a small town.
I think Iād rate it like 3-4/5 stars, like I think I can go down or up depending on the rest of the book.
But itās moving quite slow but I think that matches the setting of a small town where everyone knows each other , nothing big or flashy should happen unless itās fuelled by relationships and people, like Cole cheating.
At 74% ā¦I slow burn certainly sped up š . If you get my drift.
But I can smell a 3rd act break up and OH MY GOD CAN YOU NOT COMMUNICATE!! There be soooo much miscommunication I want to juts die. But to be fair it aināt always miscommunication itās juts blandly NOT COMMUNICATING LIKE WHAT THE HELL!
Anyway still 3-4/5 stars
90% - okay that break up was the perfect length for the situation! And was actually for a reasonable reason. Iām so relieved that they communicated even if it took months . But it was like a good time to mark them both realise the truth that they are in looovvvve. So this third act break up was actually good. I know crazyyy.
And the making up was communicative af! Like yess they talked about their feeling and it felt like the right amount of sap . It that makes sense.
The rating has went from a 3-4/5 to a SOLID 4/5 . I know crazyyy cause norally a third act break up pulls a booo down to a 3. But this one was good allowed the characters to grow by themselves in to like āwell roundedā people well atleast for Jordan. I think she needed some time and independence. And I think Pike needed to yearn . I appreciate that his pov was mostly juts , sad lonely guy is yearning and finally admiring his feelings, itās what I needed.
Cole going to the navy was a choice . One that I agreed with, heās the kind of guy that did need that discipline and direction , so good for him. Also YEAS heās less of an ass and Him and pike are on speaking terms. Cause the fact he lost his relationship with his son because of a girl he was no longer with was juts a lose lose situation. Like what do you mean the consequences of his actions didnāt even get a pay out of being allowed to stay with her. Like I felt like it boils either had been, they stayed together and Coleās relationship with pike degraded or that they broke
Up and Pike and Cole are all chill but there was an evil third option if he breaks up with Jordan AND Coleās relationship with him disappears.
Ouch .
Anyway this book is such a solid 4 stars t the hat Iām gonna try and save the last 10% . I know crazy for a book i impulsively downloading to read some trashā¦ it wasnāt trash .

ARE YOU DEAD SERIOUS ? The happy ending is marriage AGAIN?! Whatās up with straight people and marriage ? Like them juts being together and happy IS A HAPPY EMDING ! They donāt need to get married !! Like yes marriage is romantic but like generic. I understand that their characters have been very excited for the married life , like they want that secure life , so it makes sense to character . So I understand why but I still think itās and easy ending.
Iāve now finished it . The epilogue I think was unneeded . Like it could have finished before that ,at the proposal. But still good .
Lovely read , decent book 4/5 ā¦okay maybe a bit more then a decent book but I wonāt me saying that aloud any time soon lol
