Chris nodded at Finn as he sat down, smile wide. He’d just put his phone away, and after speaking with Maia, he felt as though he were on cloud nine. “I met a girl. She’s a barmaid at The Alibi, ‘asked for her number and she’s only gone and called me. She’s way out of my bloody league mate, I’m buzzing my tits off.”

“Ah, a girl,” Finn nodded, trying to seem surprised. But he knew his best friend well, and while he may not have seen him this excited in a while, Chris was pretty infamous for crushing on women. “I thought maybe ‘Drivin’ Miss Daisy’ was on. Or the porn version of tha’.” Laughing at the description, Finn lit up the cigarette as he listened, enjoying Chris’ excitement. “I actually think I know who you’re talkin’ about, and honestly, lad, I’m impressed. An’ clearly she’s impressed with you too, or she wouldn’t be callin’ ya. So, what’s she said, then?”

It had taken a lot of convincing from his friends for Finn to even attend the party, let alone stay. He was looking for any excuse to leave, hardly interested in mingling with his new peers. He'd never been good at socialising anyway, and though he didn't mind a drink or two, he much preferred to do it in the comfort of his own home. Or at a bar. Fed up with the boys' drunken rambling, Finn announced he was getting them all another round, deciding he was far too sober to handle the evening's torture. It took him a while to find something substantial enough, the host's kitchen already a complete mess, but decided things were looking up when he found a full vodka bottle. That was, until, he returned and found his spot had been taken, and by a girl he didn't recognise, nonetheless. For fuck's sake. "That's my seat," Finn announced bluntly, fed up.
