Nargothrond in a Nutshell
"Have you seen my boots?"
This could go two ways: One, give back the shoes, or Two, lie.
Pulling the book off from the shelf in front of him, Finrod turned to look at Sauron,a small smile upon his lips. "Your boots, Master? No, I have not seen them for sometime. Surly I learned my lesson last time. If you would like my help in your search for them, I do not mind." There was no way he was giving up those shoes. In fact, the elf had them for almost a week now, hidden away. Sauron did not need them.
Those. Where. His. Shoes.
The Maia's eyes narrowed down at Finrod as if deciding upon Finrod's innocence, the flame ringed gaze stared searching for even a whiff of a lie. If it is, perhaps he'd taught him a little well, it was not worth expending the magic.
Mairon was quiet for a long watchful moment then raising a brow, "are you certain you have not seen them lying about by a door? Perhaps in a crevice somewhere..? I had four sets, now there are two".
It was happening! Sweet Eru it was happening. Was he really getting away with this?
Extending the smile up to his eyes, the elf nodded once in response to Sauron's question. "Very certain, Master. Besides I have been either here in the library amongst the Advisors, or within your sight for some time now. There would be no opportunity to do so. "
However, this made Finrod question who had the second pair that were missing. Who was moving in on his territory..... this needed to be investigated in its own right.
"Have they perhaps been picked up for cleaning by another servant? How long have they been missing for? "
Finrod's smile seemed to him, equally suspicious as their calm concerning questions comcerning his boots. Considering it to he an often ravenously coveted item to the elf, an understanding he had long since given up on. "I do not permit slaves in my chambers. You...are the singular exception".
He would have Finrod's quarters searched, despite his disbelief that the elf would attempt such a thing again after such pleasantly harsh reconditioning.
"I am at my limit for this, if I discover the culprit, they will never know no peace in Mandos".
"Of course," Finrod spoke softly with a bow to his head, "I know Master has permitted this one many liberties. This lowly one is very appreciative to be honored to enter your chambers. He would not purposely cause trouble.."
Even if Sauron was to search his quarters, they wouldn't be found. It was rather comical in its own right, but the elf knew that this was treading on thin ice. Best to wrap it up and not touch those shoes for sometime. He needed to lay low. If they were found in the coming days his scent would be long gone on the material.
"When Master has found the culprit may they know no mercy. " Good thing for Finrod if he was found out by the Maia he would not make it to Mandos..he was bound to this place and this beast until there was no longer a need for him.
tyelko won’t leave them alone for a damn minute-

- tries to intervene but accepts happily-
Master, there is no harm that would come to me, I am a highly skilled warrior and this dwarf is a friend. But I do not wish to see you unhappy, your happiness is everything and that is my last wish upon my breath and breast.
Your tea will be delivered on time if it is my punctuation you're worried about.
I know you are... -smiles, sliding thumb over finrods lips- Be a good boy and say no more of it.
You still have not stated where the dwarf will be housed, Master. May I ask one thing? That he will be near my own quarters.
Tis a rare day I ask for such things, can I not have this one wish granted?
Slave. -fixing finrod with a hard stare, it was a warning- I said. Enough.
Continue and this will end in tears for you.
Yes, of course. Forgive me.
-stares sadly at his feet, ears dropping-

Why? They would keep me company and I could learn their skill of forging in order to make you more trinkets. There is nothing wrong with keeping him.
I am-- was an exalted Maia of Aulë, there is nothing his bastard spawn could teach nor give that I cannot. Absolutely not.
Master, all creations are precious. You can not say such things. And if you don't want the dwarf here you can teach me!
I do not disagree with you, little bird. All creation has its value. Even if the dwarves were born of a miscalculation.
Yes, that is true. Every creature has its place, but to hold such a misguided view against them is not the way. They have done no harm.
What of me? What if I was a 'miscalculation or misguided '?
Do not ask such pointless questions. You were never anything of the sort. Your making was destined, woven into Eä from the beginning. Descended from the stars, the children of Ilúvatar.
I loved them, once, you know? Dwarves. Now they merely breathing monuments to my former master's deficiencies.
It is not pointless. We all are destined in our own way, interwoven with one another. Mayhaps the dwarf is here for a reason? If the dwarf taught me then I would be able to surely impress you with my taught skills.
-raises a skeptical brow down at finrod-
Very well. In light of lacking the hours needed to instruct you properly... The dwarf may stay as long he remains out of my sight, that is until his usefulness runs out.
Of course! The dwarf shall stay with me, surly there is enough room.. so do not worry, Master. I shall take care of the dwarf.
No. I will find accommodations for him. You will never be left alone with it.
No?
Master, you just stated that you did not wish to see the dwarf but are now taking over accommodations? Tis no problem for me to take care of such housing needs. Besides, having the dwarf close in the morning will get me back into a routine, and I can expand more on my studies and spar more often than I am now.
