"It really is no bother, Fintan," Azrael assured with a small smile. He reached over and pulled it down, looking it over for a moment before handing it to her. "I have never had the pleasure of reading this one, be sure to give me your review of it once you are done."

Fintan gave a shy smile in return to his. "Thank you Az." she said gently, lightly taking the book. "I-I've actually already read it, I-I just missed it and wanted to read it again... I-It's actually really great..! It can just be a little dark every now and then ~"

"Yeah, sure thing." Carlos reached over the short girl easily, pulling down the book with a shy smile. "There. Here for a bit of light reading?" he asked quietly.

A bright smile reached her lips seeing that it was her friend Carlos. "Thanks!" she replied tenderly. Fintan let out a small giggle at the remark. "I-I guess... I have already read it so it shouldn't take me as long ~" she trailed off. She pursed her lips for a moment. " I-I haven't seen you around for a-a while... Whacha been up to?"

Fintan took the book with a gentle smile. “Th-Thank you… O-Oh..! Y-You’re Leah right? We met a while ago… How are you?” she asked pleasantly.

Leah nodded in response to both the thanks

and the name guess, smiling slightly. “Yeah… You’re Fintan, right?” She asked, raising an eyebrow. “I am good, work is a bitch, but I’m good, how are you?”

"Mhm!" she hummed in reply with a small smile. "Y-Yeah work is kinda blech ~" Fintan scrunched up her nose a bit at the sound effect while her face was still met with a smile. The little dragon gave a small giggle. "P-Pretty good... not a uhm h-huge fan of the snow ~ dragons don't usually prefer the cold..."

There was a very small tinge of relief hearing that he’d only be gone for a few days… But seeing him so… so different like this kept her worried for him. Fintan was shocked by the explanation, not expecting something that huge. She looked at him with great empathy… Just a few days before she had met Mason her father had passed away, the little dragon could certainly understand that pain. But she felt anger stir in her that he was slain by hunters… He pulled back and she digressed a bit. “I-I am so sorry to hear that…” she said to him tenderly, moving her hands down so they rested lightly on his chest. Fintan wanted to comfort him without making him feel patronized. “I-I know the wound are raw n-now but… Do you want to talk about it? Even if you don’t really have anything specific to say - just anything that could help in some way, anything to lighten the weight.” She wanted to help him so badly, wanted to try and ease that pain off of his shoulders so that he wouldn’t have to deal with it alone.

Mason looked at her, he knew that she knew what he was going through as she too had lost her father recently as well, and he knew that she wanted to help, that much was obviou. He just didn’t really know what to say about it, he was upset of course but at that moment he was just feeling numb to all of it, right now it just didn’t seem real to him, his father was dead and now he was going to be Alpha, it was all too much. Mason moved away from her and sat on the side of his head, ” I’m not sure what to say right now.” he said to her finally, he put his head in his hands and rubbed his face a little roughly for a moment, he stayed like that for a bit, trying to clear his head before looking up at her once more, ” It’s like I don’t want to believe it yet though I know it’s the truth, does that make any sense?” he  asked her curiously, his own thoughts were confusing him, that was clear, he just felt lost mentally and even emotionally, he just couldn’t bring himself to think straight right now.

Fintan pulled herself back a bit as he moved away and sat down, lightly wrapping her arms around her abdomen and turning so she could at least face him. Her heart ached seeing how much pain he was in about it, how shocked and disoriented it seemed to make him feel. The dragon wished she knew how to comfort people alas her lack of any people skills left her stand tensely, watching as rubbed his face roughly. She met his gaze when he looked back up, a more dour look on her face at the statement. After a brief pause she nodded to him. "It does make sense... That kind of feeling where y-you're not sure if it's all a dream o-or n-not... I-It's all a part of grieving." she said softly to her boyfriend. "I-It never really totally goes away b-but... You learn how to cope so it becomes less painful." she finished. Fintan remained silent for a bit trying to let her words sink in a bit. "B-But just -" she gave a mumbled stutter. "- j-just please don't bottle it up, even if it's confusing. I-I want to be here for you and try and help you Mason."

Fintan let out a faint huff of relief as the door opened, the relief incredibly short lived as she saw a look of quiet dejection on the face of her boyfriend. He said nothing, just opened the door a little wider… something was terribly wrong and it made her insides churn. The little dragon swallowed and forced a smile to him before walking in. The first thing that caught her eyes was a half packed bag on the bed. No… no no no no no..! She inhaled sharply and turned on her heel to Mason with a look of confusion. This wasn’t right - this was so very far from right. “H-Hey” she managed, walking over to him slowly. Fintan reached up and placed her hands softly over his cheeks and looked up into his eyes. “Mason, boo, what’s going on..?” she asked tenderly, bringing herself closer with bitter sharp fear in her gut. She brushed a tuft of hair away from his face gently before bringing her hand back to his cheek, lightly brushing her thumb over Mason’s face. “What ever it is I’m here for you…"

Mason saw her notice the suitcase on his bed, he knew that she was going to have questions, hell he\d be pretty surprised if she didn’t and though he didn’t really feel like talking about it, he knew that he had to for her sake. He looked at her as she placed her hands on his cheeks, asking him what was going on and that she was there for him and he was grateful for that to say the least and he knew she meant those words. ” I have to head home for a few days. I shouldn’t be gone for too long.” he said to her in explanation, just to calm her down and put her at ease first, ” It’s my Dad, he was killed by a group of hunters the other day, I have to go home for the funeral and then for the ceremony that will make me the new Alpha of my pack.” he said, he pulled back from her just a bit as he said this to her. It was shocking new, he knew that, hell he was still having a hard time believing it himself.

Hearing Zach laugh behind her only made her more embarrassed, slowing down a bit when she realized she was well away from seeing the sight. Fintan stopped when she heard him call out down the hall but kept her back turned. “What the crap you weirdo!” she shouted out to him. “You total complete butt! Why would you even answer your door like that! I can never unsee that!” she whined. “oh my goodness my eyes…”

Trying his hardest not to continue laughing, he slowed to a walk, though he stayed behind his friend, not wanting to make her even more uncomfortable. “Well if I’m honest Fintan, I do sleep nude, and I was asleep until you knocked. I didn’t want to leave you at the door too long.” He explained, biting the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. “I really am sorry Fin, you know I wouldn’t mentally scar you on purpose right? I may be a scumbag demon, but I’m not that bad of a scumbag demon.”

Fintan's face flushed even redder with that unnecessary explanation, spinning on her heel to face him. "ah-ah! Zip it! I don't need to fudging know that!" she said with a flustered tone, looking up at him with a pout on her rosy face. She crossed her arms stubbornly. "yeah but still..." she mumbled childishly. "You're not a scumbag Zach - just a weirdo who sleeps in his birthday suit." she said, holding back from cracking a smile. She still wanted to be mad but now it was hard. "Gosh freaking darn it - you'll pay for that! Mark my words!" she gave him a small shove before crossing her arms further. "I wanted you to come watch a movie with me but I might make my room a girls only place because of you." the little dragon teased.

My Brave Little Lion Man || Stephan & Fintan

Fintan felt bad for snapping the way she did, but it was the only way she could really get her point across without the use of tears - though she still felt guilt for having made him jump… Her body un-tensed slightly when he kissed her cheek, letting out a small sigh and looking up at him with begging eyes. The little blue dragon couldn’t return the small smile she was given, no matter how badly she wanted to… She held his hand with both of hers - the combined two just barely bigger than his singular. The sight only brought guilt, rubbing her thumbs over rough fingers to try and sooth the kitsune. As he started to speak she felt as if she was tiptoeing across a thin string above a canyon. It wouldn’t kill her to fall, but she didn’t know that… she knew she couldn’t take that chance… Fintan’s heart clenched in her chest seeing how he struggled to explain himself, her grip on his hands tightening only to try and show support to him - looking up with concerned eyes of forest green. The mention of the drugs and drinking had a knot forming in the back of her throat, angry and frustrated that she couldn’t have helped him in time to keep it from happening. The hesitation was a tremble in the tightrope, the hug that brought foreheads together catching her from falling - so it seemed. Fintan felt a snap inside of her - like her guts all twisted at once. The words I decided to kill myself echoing in her ears to bring about utter despair. But then… He saw me..? Tears were now rolling down her cheeks from eyes wide with shock and pain. When Stephan finished talking her face twisted and she began to sob, wrapping her arms tightly around him as if to keep him from falling off of that rope. The thought that she could have lost him made it feel like her heart had left her with an empty chest cavity, cold and filled with a bitter yearning that would never have been filled again if he weren’t still standing if front of her. “Never do it! Never even think of it again! I-I won’t let you…” her voice trailed off into tears, eyes squeezing shut. “I-I’m just…” she had to pause and re collect her dejected thoughts, soft quivering in her voice. “I’m just glad you’re here with me… that you didn’t…” she said softly. “You can’t leave - you just can’t… I-I couldn’t -” another wave of clenching in her chest. “I c-couldn’t make it without you…” She let out another soft sniffle before she slowly pulled back, cupping her hands over his cheeks. Finally Fintan could muster a small smile through the tears. “You’re never alone - never..!” she said with quiet determination. “Now you’re coming to stay with me for a while - no choice! You’re my brave little lion man Stephan… So brave…”

Stephan hadn’t cried since… Well since Allen never came home to him. Coming home to an empty room was his reoccurring horror, an image it seemed God loved to torture him with. He never found the body but his nightmares made certain that was medicated. The images still danced through his mind… Blood and empty eyes. No more gentle voice to lull him to sleep. Up until now it felt like he had no tears to shed. Like his body had put up an armored wall so he wouldn’t shrivel up like a raisin. Then finally the dam was broken. Tears poured from his too dry eyes to mirror hers, hiccuping lightly as he tried to breath and find more words… But they were all gone, all lost to the abyss. Every word he had ever said seemed wasted now, every thoughtless ‘I love you’ and every desperate plea. Every single sentence was a price unmet in the God damned bank of life. God damn world… Her little hands were his only tether, that gentle smile his only happiness now… Perhaps he’d find another one day, but those thoughts seemed so far away at this point. He wanted to sleep in her arms, fall out of consciousness and lay there for the rest of eternity… But luckily she had other places to be, luckily there was no way he could drag her down with him. She really was his sunshine, and if anyone tried to take her away… Apparently he would literally give an arm and a leg. He was so thankful and yet…. He clenched his teeth, that in addition to her arms kept his legs from trembling. He had never had anyone like this up until this school. It took him in and broke his heart, yet he still loved it so unbelievably much. The feeling in his chest reminded him of crumbled tin foil, scratching at the inside of his organs… Filling him with cold bitter metal. He wanted to get sick, but it brought up too many bad memories. His mind was still fogged, his body going through withdrawals… The hospital had caught him trying to get a fix, but those nurses were tougher than they look. Her words broke the glass of his mind and he looked into those quivering green orbs.”I promise, Fintan-” he stuttered through the tears. “I promise that I won’t leave as long as you’re with me- as long as we need eachother I’m here- I’m here!” he allowed himself to sob, crying like a small child. Crying out all of his built up pain… Letting it go. “I l-love you, Finny! You’re my a-angel,” he sobbed, his shoulders shaking from the tears.

The little dragon had felt bad for making her fox cry - yet at the same time she knew the crying was good for him, it was a means of releasing emotions that was far healthier than anything else. She needed to help drain the physical and emotional poison from his veins. Fintan found herself crying over her friend Allen too, but she certainly didn't know him nearly as well as Stephan did... and she certainly wasn't as close as they... It was only a matter of imagination. She was only slightly empathetic because of her father; other than that the closest she's ever felt to losing someone she truly loves was when she was separated from Mason, and now this... This was as close as she had ever gotten - and though it was still far it hurt like she was stabbed with jagged ice. Hearing his sweet distressed words caused a small sob and a sniffle to escape. "G-Good! Th-Thank you for promising..." she whimpered, reaching up and wrapping her arms around him. Fintan nuzzled into his shoulder with soft sniffles, rubbing his back soothingly as she continued to pull him back up from that rope. She let out a laugh that mixed with another few breaths from the tears. "I love you too Stephy ~ so, so ,so much..." she replied softly, her tender voice muffled by his clothing. She held the embrace for another few minutes to allow both of them to calm down a bit. Only when they were down to small hiccups in their breaths did she release, continuing to hold his hand as she smiled gently up at him. "Now come on... I-I'm serious about you staying with me. W-Why don't be go grab some supplies and head to my room. I'll make some dinner and we can watch a movie together... Sound good?"

The fact that she hadn’t seen Mason for a while made her slightly sick to her stomach, this being taken as a good reason to worry. Drakon had left her only a day after making a promise he’d be there for her and the wounds were still raw… On top of finding out Luna had done the same and Stephan… Finding out that Stephan in the time he was missing had planned on killing himself… The little dragon just couldn’t handle not knowing where Mason was, every thought she formed about him was a worst case scenario. Fintan quickly made her way to Remington with a troubled speed in her steps, mind clouding with fear and anxiety. When she reached her loves door she hesitated a moment before giving a few knocks. She was on edge was just praying there would be an answer. “M-Mason..? A-Are you there..? I-I haven’t s-seen you around for a w-while so I-I thought I’d check up…” she trailed off. Fintan held her breath and waited. She didn’t want to lose anyone else - have anyone else detach from everyone and be lost in the dark of their thoughts. Her hands trembled a bit.

Mason was in his room packing up a bag, he hadn’t told anyone that he was leaving for a few days, well the headmasters knew of course and luckily they understood why he had to go home for a few days, he just wasn’t ready to tell anyone what was going on yet, though he knew he couldn’t keep it to himself for much longer. Mason made his way around the room, just grabbing what he needed, some clothes, not many but enough for a few days and a few other odd things that he knew he’d need, everything else could stay, not to mention he had things at home that he could use as well. Mason was going through his drawers when he heard a knock on the door and soft voice call out to him from the other side of it, he knew exactly who it was, he should have known that she would show up eventually, he hadn’t exactly been hanging out around that school that much since he found out, he just wanted time to himself so he could process everything first before talking to anyone about it, but he knew that he couldn’t just not tell her and he also figured that since she was there, now was as good as a time as any. Mason went over to the door and after taking a breath and one more moment to himself he pulled the door open for her. He wanted to smile at her like he usually did but he couldn’t bring himself to do it right now, he stood back and pulled the door open wider so she could come inside if she wanted to. The dragon’s gulp caused Stephan to feel his stomach curl up in a ball of guilt. He felt selfish for being away so long, for not being able to deal with what happened. For calling those voices in his head that he would never touch again. He clenched his teeth hard, curling his hand into a fist to drive his nails into his hand… It was a habit he had picked up to remind himself that this was all real; not another side affect. He smiled sadly and looked away for a moment, trying to remember everything that he should say. He flinched back when she snapped at him, pulling another ‘mother’ thing on him. Her yelling turned into begging and he had to lean down to kiss her cheek. His headaches made it hard to think lately so he held her hands and gave himself a moment. “Well since A-… Since everything happened,” he started, already feeling sick. “I’ve been struggling with a lot of feelings and shit… Before hand I had been into the party crowd, you know that.” The kitsune squeezed his eyes shit for a moment, trying to form comprehensive sentences. “Fuck. I mean I was already into drugs and drinking and all that. So when I stopped being able to deal with the deaths and the nightmares I turned to that shit. It went down hill, made it worse and I-” he stopped and hesitated, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and leaning their foreheads together. “I decided to kill myself, Finny… It just felt like the only thing at the time. I tried to overdose but then… I saw you. I know you weren’t there but I saw you and I remembered why I couldn’t. I threw up until I couldn’t feel my body anymore and checked myself into the hospital… And I guess that’s it until now,” he took a breath and waited for the backlash.

Fintan walked with a small skip in her step as she wandered down to Zach’s room, she was hoping they could hang out a bit. They didn’t exactly have the happiest conversation with him when last she spoke - she really was hoping to make it up to him. Fintan knocked on the door and adjusted to wear a smile on her lips for him. She heard to door open and immediately went o speak “Hey Za-” her face completely dropped and her cheeks flushed red, seeing her best friend with nothing but a small tea towel covering him. Fintan squeezed her eyes shut and jumped back “G-G-Geez Z-Zach!” she squealed before she ran back down the way she came.

As Zach saw his friend run in the other direction he burst out laughing, quickly making sure he was completely covered in case someone else came along, a sigh of relief slipping through his lips as he realised the girl had not seen the naked man in his bed. “Fin, wait would ya?” He called, grabbing a pair of jeans and pulling them on as he chased his friend. “Hey…”

He looked up with a grin, it was hard not to laugh after seeing her jump like that. It usually just confused people, causing them to lose their place, which was also funny, seeing the frustration. Lawrence stood, walking over to the table and sitting on it. “Yes, that was me.” He laughed, she seemed so scared. He picked up the book and flipped through the pages. “I…” He started. “Am an air elemental, well, apparently. It’s in my file, anyway.” Lawrence was pleased with her reaction, but he decided he’d like just a little bit more.”See those books over there on that shelf? Well, I’m going to make them fall off the wall.” He grinned, focusing hard on the books and pushing ten or so off the shelf. He was delighted that it had worked, sometimes books gave him a hard time. “And thank you, most people don’t find it cool, they find it annoying. I can see why. I’m afraid I’ve caused you to lose your place…” He  smiled, this was very, very amusing.

She blushed lightly as the amusement he had gotten out of her reaction, her body closing up a bit with the embarrassment. The little dragon looked carefully as he made his way over and sat on the table - picking up her book and flipping through it. Fintan was a bit wary of the action ~ the last time someone other than her touched her books they were either ripped, wrecked, or stepped on with muddy boots... "A-An air elemental..? Th-That sounds really cool... I-I'm a dragon..." she said with a sheepish smile. She was slowly becoming a bit more comfortable at admitting what she was even if it wasn't requested. Fintan knew she had to learn to accept herself eventually. The blonde males next statement made her stomach twist, the sweet smile fading from her face. "O-Oh n-no, please d-don't -" it was too late. She shot around to the bookshelf with a small skip in her shift, putting a hand over her mouth as she watched her precious books fall. She turned back to him as she heard him speak again, a look of disappointment and shy defeat on her face. Why did she always get picked on..? Was it something she said? Did she offend him by her outright statement regarding him flipping her pages..? "U-Um i-it's no bother... I was on page one seventy three. I-I'll just go pick those up." she stated quietly before turning away from him.
