"Really? That’s so cool! You guys are like Pokemon superheroes!" Red exclaimed in excitement, just the thought of helping Pokemon in such a way seemed heroic to him.

"And you work together with wild Pokemon too? Your job sounds really awesome. I can’t believe you saved an entire forest from burning down. That really is a cool story." Red told her, he was enthralled by the rangers job because he had never encountered someone who took such risks and did such things before. 

"Do you ever see the Pokemon again? I know you don’t catch them but have you ever befriended some that you see often?" Red asked, very curious if the rangers could create binds with wild Pokemon so quickly.

"Okay so you’ve held up your end of the bargain I guess it’s time for mine," Red smiled "Well you’ve seen Pikachu here, but I’ll show you the rest of my Pokemon I have with me right now." he reached back and grabbed three pokeballs he had in his backpack, pressing the middle button to activate them. "Alright are you ready? Come on out guys!" Red called out throwing his pokeballs up, in a showy manner, and releasing the three Pokemon inside.

An Espeon, Charizard and Poliwrath all appeared from the Pokeballs, hovering close to their trainer, along with Pikachu who had climbed up onto Red’s shoulder. “These are some of my friends that I travel with.” Red introduced with a smile, he was always so proud to show off his Pokemon.

    Harleen gave a nervous laugh, unsure how to respond to the compliment. "It's just our job, really!" She exclaimed. "Someone has to do it, right? Although, we don't see many of the Pokemon again after we've helped them. They tend to go deeper in to the wilderness after we help them most times." She added, making sure she had cleared up everything. "But, there are a few that will purposely run to us whenever there's a disturbance, I think they like the treats we give them."

    However, at the mention of the deal being rewarded at last, she went in to excited silence, suppressing a squeak as she watched the Pokemon. "Oh my! So you have a Charizard, a Pikachu, a Poliwrath and... Oh, what's that one? I haven't really seen it before." She may have heard of it once, but she never really saw an Espeon before. However, she could not suppress her excitement for no more than a moment.

    "Is the Charizard friendly? Does the one I don't know the name of like to be petted? Do you have nicknames for them?" She asked another flood of excited questions, glancing between all the Pokemon in awe. She had never before seen any variety of Pokemon peacefully together, tamed and non-destructive. Albeit she wanted to pet them, she didn't want to upset the Pokemon, and surely did not want to upset the Charizard after personal experience with them.

"Ranger Union?" Leaf asked curiously. She believed Professor Oak had mentioned Pokemon Rangers to her briefly. She let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank Arceus! In all honesty, I was worried you were apart of some bad group. Like, Team Rocket or something!" She explained. "But what is it like being a Pokemon Ranger?" Leaf asked, excited about another way to interact with Pokemon.

"Is it fun? How does it work? What do you do? You don’t battle, right? You just have one partner Pokemon with you, right?" The girl asked question after question and then eagerly waited for them to be answered.

    Harleen's eyes lit up as she heard the other speak about Team Rocket, unable to keep herself from laughing. It was funny to hear that someone would mistake the Ranger Union uniform for uniform of a bad organization was actually more amusing than she thought.

    "Well, it depends. We don't battle if its not necessary, but on rare occasions we use wild Pokemon and help them protect themselves against something, but otherwise, we don't. We can get a partner Pokemon, but it depends--the Pokemon has to absolutely love us and have no where else to go in order for us to be allowed to have them." She giggled deciding it would be fun to explain to the confused girl about what her job was.

    "I almost has a cute Houndour once! But then a Houndoom--probably a parent--showed up and it went back home with it. How about you? Do you have any Pokemon? I'd guess that you're a trainer." She added, making sure she did her best to be friendly to the other. It was all a part of a ranger's job to be caring and happy, and she made sure she was just like that.

Leaf spotted a person in an odd outfit. It wasn’t exactly a trainer’s outfit, and seemed as though maybe they were apart of some sort of Union or group.

The girl felt slight panic in her heart. There couldn’t be another Team Rocket popping up could it? If so, this was bad. Red could’ve taken Team Rocket down without Leaf’s or Green’s help, but the region couldn’t rely on their champion for everything.

Okay, time to play it cool!

"Excuse me! Your outfit is so cute! Where’d you get it at?" The trainer asked. If they were anything like Team Rocket, they would proudly blurt out what evil gang they were apart of.

    Harleen turned to the voice that beckoned her, tipping her head happily. "Oh, this? This is the uniform of the Ranger Union. You get it for your services of protecting Pokemon in Fiore." She almost giggled.

She happened to be out of her region on a mission, but since that was finished, she was just walking around in uniform to check out the rest of the area before she would have to go back. It didn't hurt to look around, in fact, it was actually lot of fun--she even saw a few Pokemon while she was there, and that was worth it.

Red watched as the girl reached out to his Pikachu and he laughed as Pikachu stepped forward, always willing to have someone dote on him or show him affection. 

"Hm.. Well I’d really like to know some of your adventures and what Pokemon you’ve met and what it is you exactly do." Red answered, it was interesting to him how excited the girl was just at the prospect of seeing all his Pokemon. He’d had many people ask him about his Pokemon, what types they were, where he got them, what moves they had, etc.. but that was all mostly interviewers or fangirls of the champion who had asked. It was refreshing to Red to have someone not know who he was, he assumed, and show genuine interest in the Pokemon he had.

    "Okay, okay, well, we help Pokemon in distress, keep them safe from poachers, and keep their environment as safe as possible." Harleen began, rooting in her mind for an event that occurred. After a moment of hesitation, she finally recalled one.

    "Okay, so back when I first joined the Ranger Union, maybe a month after I came in, we got a call that this Charizard caught a part of the forest on fire. So, we had to go there and get a few of the water-type Pokemon around there to help us out with it, but not many of them were big enough to put it out, so we had to go to another area and bring back a Swampert to put the fire out." She stated, this time trying to keep an even pace so she didn't mess up her words as she explained. "Afterwards, we gave it a treat and returned it to its home, and moved the Charizard to a safer location."

    She took a deep breath after explaing all that, then returned another wide smile to the boy. "That's kind of what we do if something happens that can be fixed or completed with Pokemon, we borrow them for a while and then give them a nice reward." And likely never see them again, she thought to herself. But that was okay, because chances are, they were doing perfectly fine on their own. Pokemon in Fiore were wild, untamed creatures living in a happy world of their own, never to fear permanent, nor would they ever be taken away from their homes. That was something the Ranger Union made sure of.

"You’re a Pokemon ranger?" Red asked, curiosity laced his voice. He’d seen and heard about Pokemon Rangers but had never actually met one before. Red laughed as the girl moved on from one topic straight back to Pokemon, he found it almost cute how much the girl loved Pokemon. 

"There are a lot of different types of Pokemon here. Well I don’t have my full team with me, and my Pokemon team differs depending on where I am or who I am battling but I have a few of my Pokemon with me, including my Pikachu." Red answered, gesturing behind him to the Pikachu that sat calmly behind his legs. "Pikashu hates his pokeball so he travels around with me, usual he sits on my shoulder though." he explained.

"But I have an idea. How about you tell me about what you do as a ranger back in Fiore, I wanna hear about some of your adventures, and in return I’ll show you the Pokemon I have with me." Red suggested, curious to see if the girl would take his offer.

    Harleen's eye went wide as she saw the Pikachu, excitedly reaching out to see if the small yellow Pokemon would let her pet it. She was more than excited to see it. "It's sort of like a Plusle, just bigger and yellow!" She giggled, before she heard his offer.

    As much as she didn't want to be the center of attention, it did mean that she would get to see the rest of the boy's Pokemon, and that was an offer she wouldn't resist. "Sure, of course I will! What do you want to know about?" She would likely sell her soul to someone just to see their Pokemon, so it was no doubt that she was ready to conform to what the other wanted. There was absolute excitement in her voice even now, anticipating what his other Pokemon might be.

    Harleen could hardly wait--her heart beat quicker then ever before. A real Pokemon trainer would show her real, trained Pokemon that he kept as pets, and that was all she needed to fulfill the goal of her entire vacation. She didn't know what she would do the rest of the days of it if she completed the goal now, but she wasn't going to focus on that yet. She was too caught up in the idea of actual pet Pokemon.

Red watched with mild amusement the facial expressions of the girl in front of him, he could tell just the topic of Pokemon was a thrilling one to her. But her words, once again - seems to happen a lot with him, caught him off guard. “No Pokemon eh? But uh yeah I’m a trainer. I’ve never done a contest before, and I think of my Pokemon as friends and companions than pets.” He told her.

"What about you then, what do you do?" He asked her, he was curious why someone who got so excited by the mere word of Pokemon had none for herself.

    Harleen bit her lip out of pure excitement as she processed what was being said, trying to find out where she should start on talking to the trainer. A real trainer... it was an absolute euphoria to meet one in person for literally the first time. When she was asked what she did, she immeditley answered as quickly as possible in hopes to get back on to the subject of the trainer and his Pokemon.

    "I'm a Pokemon ranger in Fiore, we're not allowed to have Pokemon or catch them and keep them." She explained in a lightning fast pace, taking a moment to breath before she tried to switch back on to her favorite subject. "So, what Pokemon do you have? I've seen quite a few Pokemon, like Hondour, Houndoom, Plusle, yeah. What about you?" Without a doubt, Harleen was anxious to hear about the trainer's Pokemon, wishing with all her heart that she might get to see one. This was the kind of thing she lived for, and certainly what she went on vacation for.

Red had been walking down the road humming to himself softly as he went. It was one of those lazy days where he didn’t really have to do anything, no duties to fulfill as champion, no kids wanting to battle it was just a nice day where he could be out and about and enjoy some time to himself.

He wasn’t paying attention when someone came up to him, and it took him a moment to register that someone was talking to him. “Uh.. Hello?” he called back, tone more questioning than anything. The girl who had called out to him seemed friendly enough but the next sentence to come out of her mouth caught him off guard with how blunt it was. 

"Pokemon? Yeah I have some Pokemon. I have some of my team with me now actually. Do you have any Pokemon?" he asked, he wasn’t sure if it was out of politeness or just cause he had been so caught off guard that he had returned her question.

    The ranger's expression absolutely lit up when she heard the response about having Pokemon, not even taking a moment to wallow in the pity that she had none. "Well, I don't have Pokemon, but I love them! So, you're a trainer? Or do you use them in contests? Or are they just pets?" It was certainly obvious she had not been around people who had Pokemon much before, her tone struggling to remain at an even pace rather than racing to speak.

   She'd heard about many kinds of Pokemon keepers, and she was doing the best to keep the focus of the conversation on the other, striving to know how people used Pokemon in this region. With a warm, welcoming smile, she upheld a friendly posture, doing her best to make sure nothing went wrong with the conversation.

    Harleen was on vacation, and very grateful for that. Although she knew she should have used it to visit her older brother in Kalos, that was not the place on her mind. Instead, she made her way to Kanto by ship, feeling that Pokemon trainers truly blossomed there. Although she would never be one with a steady job as a ranger, it brought closure to see others thriving along side of Pokemon, as well as making sure all was well.

    As soon as she got off the dock, she immediately wanted to immerse herself in the new region, barely looking at maps and guides. It felt odd to be out in a public place without her uniform on, but she still wore an outfit similar to it; a t-shirt and shorts, it was her only compensation for the outfit. But, it was her vacation, and she didn't want to look like she was still working.

    Her immediate reaction to people, however, was to explore a while. She wanted to pick out someone who seemed like a trainer, someone who had a Pokemon-loving vibe. Red was the first person she thought to pull over for such a matter.

    "Hello," Her voice rang out to him, rising slightly in tone as she called out to him. "Do you have Pokemon, by any chance?" It was sudden, but she didn't really know etiquette in the Pokemon training parts of the world. All she knew was that she wanted to see what a Pokemon trainer was like, regardless of her awkward and abrupt greeting.
