Friend and I were talking about our darkest nerdy hobbies at work and I was explaining as best I could what it was like to be involved in Minecraft roleplay fan spaces and the relationship viewers would have with the people creating the story.

Made me miss Techno honestly. I disagreed with a lot of his lore takes but man, the fact that he would argue about them and put his whole chest into it was something that you'll never get from another fandom space. He was as much in the trenches as we were and reading all the nerd takes. Like you could never be 100 percent sure when he was ranting about lore that you weren't getting vagued and I respect that.

Actually thinking about it there's a similar vibe with how Noah Wyle talks about all the shitty takes on Twitter about The Pitt. It's just missing that dash of internet nerd and quarantine that we can't just recreate

Our yearly family reunion where we all come back to say lmao fuck dreamwastaken that guy is pathetic. The anxiety and shit he caused other people through the years just for his own ego is crazy work

I have such a bad relationship with the band pavement. They were one of my first favorite bands and I actively cannot stand anyone in that band but I love them and have sat through their occasionally shitty live shows more than once. I'm deeply pleased that the young ones have discovered them in the past few years but also do not want to give their singer any chance to speak or be on TV ever again

They made a tiktok account and I'm horrified at every video but also watching every video

Guys it's still parasocial behavior to leave alerts or follow someone just to make negative comments on all their videos. Doesn't matter whether the hate is deserved, it's still you putting more energy into a person who does not know you exist and will only benefit from your continued infatuation.

Back to obsessing with anyone who will listen about

1) how much I love that Huntress Wizard and Finn are A Thing in so many universes and yet she's so Separate from his core friend group in the main universe. Marceline and Bubblegum didn't know they were still a thing, neither had her number, HW had to clarify who Simon was when Finn was mumbling about him...

2) That Simon might accidentally be some kind of immortal because of Betty's wish and just doesn't realize it yet and it's less tragic than last season but still this looming Oh thing that's out there

3) And just everything about Fionna and her search for purpose. She's every person that's wandered through her twenties thinking purpose would find her and then realize that she's gonna have to find it on her own and is completely lost about it.

Going back and watching the first season of Fionna and Cake and seeing how much stuff they put in for the second season... Love it. They initially thought it was going to be a one off mini-series and they still said "fuck it, this is our world building and we'll make sure we leave enough bread crumbs and treats to build off of even if it's just for us."

Again, no show ever has done the jump from kid to adult audience like this and I will always be in love. Like, the theme of the hero's journey in the original series and the flawless move to aimless and needing to have purpose journey of someone who is no longer a kid?? The change of friend groups and dynamics as everyone becomes adults?? Pure therapy in a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting
