Child First Aid-What to do if they swallow something they shouldn’t?
Dishwasher tablets, a bottle of Calpol or the entire medicine cabinet – regardless of what it is, if your child has swallowed something they shouldn’t, the safest course of action is to get them to hospital as soon as possible.
Call an ambulance and try to establish as much information as possible. "What you know will inform what the medical professionals do and how they will proceed to treat it," says Taylor. "Find out what it is, how much they’ve taken and when: have they just done it or was it an hour ago?"
Finally, Taylor urges that you fight your instinct to make them sick. "If it’s done harm on the way down, which they often do as it could be corrosive or damaging to the throat and esophagus, and you make them vomit, you will do further harm on the way back up. It’s much better to wait till they’re at hospital where they will have the tools and medicine to get it out of the system in the best way."

Child First Aid-What to do after your baby bumps his or her head?
When your child learns to walk or crawl, it’s somewhat inevitable that they end up bumping their head. Whilst most cases can be treated with a cuddle and a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a teatowel, there are warning signs that might mean your child requires further medical attention.
"The things to look out for if they’ve had a really bad fall is vomiting, becoming drowsy, or if their behaviour is changing. It sounds quite vague but you’ll be the best person to identify if they’re behaving a bit differently," assures Taylor, noting that it could take a couple of hours before any symptoms present themselves.
If their condition worsens or does not improve, Taylor advises taking them straight to A&E.

Child First Aid-What to do during a febrile seizure?
Young children can’t regulate their temperatures very well, so if they have a fever and their temperature gets too high, they may have a febrile seizure as a result. One in 20 children will have a febrile seizure but not everyone is aware of what it is or how to deal with it.
Taylor points out some of the key signs that you can look out for. "You’ll notice that their skin is hot to touch, their eyes may roll back, they may make little twitchy movements or be clenching their fists and arching their back."
The best way to treat a febrile seizure is to cool the child down. "If they’ve got too many clothes on, take them off or open the window."
Taylor stresses that you shouldn’t use wet blankets as that could shock them but instead cool the environment gradually. "When their temperature comes down the seizure should stop."
When the seizure stops, put them on their side and tilt their head back so they can recover in a safe position.
If you notice your child has a fever, you can prevent a febrile seizure by administering paracetamol syrup, cooling them down and giving them lots of liquids, which may mean milk for a baby or water or juice for a toddler.
Hospital is not required but may be advised for peace of mind.

Child First Aid—— What to do if your child sustains a burn?
Whilst very rarely life threatening, burns are common amongst young children and are one of the biggest reasons for them going to A&E.
"This is a really good one for parents to know because the actions of the first person to deal with a burn will have a huge impact on the outcome and extent of it," says Taylor.
A natural response is to run the burn under cold water and Taylor suggests doing this for a minimum of ten minutes to take all of the heat out of the wound. "Once you’ve cooled it, cover the affected area with cling film, to protect the skin underneath and stop any germs getting in, stopping it from getting infected." Interestingly, cling film will also help with pain, which is particularly helpful with children. "It’s the air getting to the damaged skin which causes the pain," she explains.
All children with burns need to go to hospital.

Child First Aid——What to do if you find your baby choking?
If your child is not coughing, crying or making gurgling noises and you suspect they’re choking, pick them up, supporting their head, and place them along the length of your forearm on your knee, with their face down. "You should have their bottom high and their head down so gravity is working in your favour," explains Taylor. "If they’re choking on vomit that will immediately help to move the obstruction."
Then you’re instructed to do back blows, which are a firm strike to the back, in the middle of the shoulder blades. "The blow causes vibration in the airway and the pressure can force the object out," describes Taylor.
Many parents may feel hesitance to strike their child, especially if they are under six-months old, but Taylor offers some reassurance. "I know it’s counterintuitive to be hitting a baby but what you’ve got to remember is that they can’t breathe, so you need to get the object out as quickly as possible. It needs to be much firmer than winding your baby, which are just gentle taps."
Parents may need to repeat the back blow three to five times to remove the object. If this doesn’t work, you can turn your baby onto their back, in the same position, with their head supported. With two fingers, press down on the centre of their chest.
"This is called a chest thrust and is almost like an artificial cough," says Taylor. "It’s forcing the air up and out of the lungs which will hopefully push the object out of the airway."
If your child is older than one, Taylor advises using the same technique but adapting it for their size. This means instead of lying them down along your arm, you get them to stand up and lean forward and then do back blows. "If this doesn’t work we would do abdominal thrusts which are like the Heimlich maneuver. Get your fist under their ribs on the soft part of their tummy and perform quite a forceful in and up," she illustrates.
If neither technique works, Taylor advises getting a second party to call an ambulance whilst you continue to alternate between back blows and chest thrusts.

We wear masks every day, and when the skin is uncomfortable, it can be relieved in this way.
In 2020, masks have become our daily necessities. You have to wear it whenever you go out. Everyone is slowly adapting to this new habit. Many interesting things were discovered in the process of adaptation.
Wearing a mask, I suddenly found my face value increased. Blocking the face, the shortcomings such as acne, eye bags, and double chin were covered, and then I found that I was still pretty. Only then did I know how important it is to look good. A society that looks at the face has become a society that looks at the eyes. Put on a mask and don't need makeup anymore. Lipstick, concealer, sunscreen, all these are no longer important! In this way, cosmetics alone can save a lot of money. Oh my god, you can save a lot of money! It is said that someone has not shaved for half a month!
Of course, there are also stories of heart jams! A friend with a big face seems to have been hit harder than before ... If you eat something special before wearing a mask, it feels ... When I went out to shop, I chose to pay with a face-sweep, only to find that facial recognition is now a decoration.
For the first time after resuming work, I wore a mask from morning till night. I really realized how hard it is for medical staff and other people who wear masks!
We have to wear it despite being uncomfortable. We need to cooperate well so that the epidemic can end earlier. When the epidemic is over, we can take off our masks and go outdoors to breathe!
