Hello! This is a blog about fishies, aquariums and animals in general! Feel free to ask, submit or share! I'll post photos of my fishies! I've got 2 tanks, I have a 8 years old goldfish a 4 years shubunkin, a betta and a nerite snail

Soooo.. how do I even start? I haven't been up since last summer. Why? A lot happened. A lot.. and tumblr kinda died so well...

I don't think anyone cares but ya kno, am good. Kinda.

Fish (white goldie) passed this summer.. just after italy lockdown. She was 10 yo so I think it was her time.. she is buried in my yard now.. has some nice white rocks on her.

I got a betta for the 10 gallons.. he is a very good boy.. still has no name.

Also i got endlers now.. they are very good babies..

So my pet pufferfish transitioned today

I know lions are usually the example used to debunk the whole ‘being trans makes no biological sense’ agrument but please let me introduce another trans animal, the pea pufferfish

Bee here, (as pictured before transition) was female for the longest time. Females have white bellies. But one day I woke up and boom, bee had a black stripe down their belly, a sure sign of a Male fish.

Turns out pea puffers actually change sex depending on their social environment. In fact, they’re sexless when young and can develope into males, females and anything in between. Some even remain sexless.

I’ve only had bee for about three weeks. In the shop, bee was surrounded by other puffers. The ratio of males to females caused bee produce a lot of feminine hormone, and so bee became female at maturity. But bee lives alone in my tank now. And without others around him, he produced Male hormone and is now Male!!!!

It is with great sadness that I announce Nebula's passing... the summer heat killed him. He just got so skinny, he couldn't fatten up fast... I didn't know this tank could heat so much in the summer. I noticed too late and I applied counter measurements too late.. I know now what to do.. but I didn't want him to pay.. he was a good fishy

I keep seeing so many people joke about goldfish having short lifespans….

You can’t live long in an airtight glass bowl either but that doesn’t mean human lifespan is only 5 minutes.  

First of all take the fish out of the goldfish bowl and use it for snacks or something. 

Get the goldfish a proper tank.

Make sure the water temperature is right. Goldfish like it cold. 

Feed it proper food.

Clean the tank regularly.

Care for it as if it was a living creature and not a freaking home decoration.

And bam. That fish may just live to see your kids of to college. If they’re well-cared for they can live up to 25 years and grow to about 30 cm long.  They’re not supposed to be tiny. 

You’re not watching a fish in a bowl die of old age. You’re watching a baby fish choke to death. 

I’m no expert on fish-care by any means but it took me like one second of googling to find the info above. 

Fish are friends, not decoration. 

That also goes for bettas btw… just because they can survive in a tiny pond in the wild doesn’t mean its fair to keep them in one their entire lives… 

Stop making jokes about how people are terrible fish-keepers.

Long due update. We are all doing fine~ The plants are actually growing for a change, and they are all thriving. I had some issues with the heat tho, the small tank overheated a couple of times.. had to use a tiny fan pointed at the surface.. and poor Nebula's metabolism sped up and hes all skinny now.. I'm trying to get him to gain some chub now~~ I wanna buy some frozen food~~
