Hey guys! I just wanted to apologize for being absent so long, but i was accepted to the San Francisco State dietetic internship program which just started literally yesterday lol

Hello! I have a hard time wanting to exercise in the winter and usually slack off.... A lot! Is there any way I can work out at home instead of going outside (Canadian winters, ugh)
Hi! You’re totally not alone with having diminished motivation to work out in the winter…it happens to almost everyone! I recently started working out at home too because my new apartment is just too far from the gym. But there is a WEALTH of free workouts and fitness programs on YouTube!

There’s PLENTY more than this. Shop around for what works for you and make sure you have a system if you don’t want to fall off the wagon. Make yourself a schedule of what workouts you’re going to do on what days and you’re good to go! Good luck!
I was wondering what sources you used for a few of your posts? A registered dietian (sp?) at my work explained that corn and peas won't make you gain weight. Thanks!

The sources I use for my posts are mostly from medical journals and research databases like CINAHL and Proquest. I read over published research when I’m looking for new facts to see if there are any new (valid) findings in the nutrition field. Other facts come from information I gathered during my education.
That being said, I’ll address the corn and peas issue. Apologies if I worded it poorly, but corn and peas (like any other food) can make you gain weight over time if consumed in excess in the mindset of “oh, it’s a vegetable, so I can eat as much as I want!” Corn and peas are known as starchy vegetables, which mean they have more carbs and therefore more calories (sometimes as much as 3x more) per serving than other veggies like cauliflower or mushrooms.
Long story short, eating 2 cups of corn with every meal would cause much more rapid weight gain than eating 2 cups of mushrooms with every meal…generally speaking. This absolutely does not mean that starchy veggies are bad for you, but it does mean you have to watch how much you consume relative to other veggies if you are watching your weight.
