Oh wow, I can’t beleive I completely forgot about Valentine’s Day! How will everyone know they are loved? I have to make this right! Does Al’s still have candies and cards?
I'm sure there are leftovers going up for ridiculous sale prices now that Valentine's is over. I imagine you won't even have to look that hard. It's very nice of you to appoint yourself the town's affections distributor in the first place.

Well, you do whatever makes the day pass easier, dear. Look around the town, make some friends even, I imagine that would fare better than wine and a book. Unless you're looking for silence, in which case, as you were.
It isn't. I'm still setting up the office and settling everyone in so it's good for me to be around and help anyone who needs it. And besides, in a town so small you know someone always has some kind of problem that needs solving.

Yeah, sweet for you maybe. Tell that to my deteriorating youth. I'm kidding, I love my daughters as much of a pain as they can be. Wouldn't trade the high blood pressure for the world. They are indeed in town...or at least I think they still are...they don't like being seen with their old man. It's uncool.
It is a great de-stressor. Oh, my! If you ever need to get away - although I’m sure your children are absolutely lovely - I’d be happy to lend a hand with babysitting! How old are they, if you don’t mind me asking?
I wish my kids were still babysitting age so I could just take time to myself without worrying about them. Unfortunately they're both grown, eighteen and twenty four so they're always off doing their own thing having their own adventures leaving their old man to grow grey hairs over their whereabouts and doings.
Of course! It’s certainly better than laying around, and I’ll take any excuse to listen to old jazz classics.
Old jazz classics and baking? Sounds like the dream. It's certainly been a while since this old man's gotten around to doing anything like that. Certainly not since my girls were little.

Patience sat in her car, sighing as she contemplated where she would go next. She had needed some time away from the empty and unusually quiet house, where her thoughts usually took a turn for the worse. So, instead Patience had decided to spend the day treating herself to things that she had previously enjoyed very much. These days, though, she enjoyed those things much less. It seemed, in all honesty, that these days she didn’t enjoy anything. Nothing made her happy and she spent most of her days restlessly wondering around the house or sleeping for that matter. She didn’t like this place and she was done pretending that she did. She had made it clear to her husband on more than one occasion that she despised their new “home” and found herself having negative thoughts about him as well. It seemed as if everything got on her nerves lately and she didn’t even know why.
Patience suddenly put her keys into the ignition and let the engine roar to life. Aaron had asked her to meet him in the attic at 8 PM and although she didn’t quite know what to make of it, she knew that she should at least go and see what he wanted. Knowing her husband, Patience was certain it had something to do with the kids or him because these days it seemed as if she had taken a backseat to everyone else and although this didn’t bother her much in the past, it bothered her now. She had been so blindly in love with Aaron since she met him that everything afterwards had always been about him. She had gladly stood behind him while he pursued his career but those days were over. She was more than just his wife after all. It seemed she had completely forgotten that.
She snapped out of her deep thinking then, and realized that she had automatically driven home, without even thinking about what she was doing. Reluctantly getting out of the car she knew that she looked better than usual, considering the fact that she had just gotten her hair touched up and styled and her nails done. Dressed in a semi-formal, dark red dress that went down to her knees and hugged her gracefully, slim figure, Patience walked into the house and quietly up the stairs, not even bothering to take off her black and simple, high-heeled shoes. Standing just before the door, her eyes widened as she saw Aaron, who seemed to have been waiting for her. Looking at him in confusion, she asked, “Hello Aaron, what is it you called me here for?”.
Aaron's expression lit up as he heard the sound of heels clicking up the stairs to the attic. His older daughter wore heels from time to time but twenty five years later he'd learned the sound of his wife's footsteps and he knew for sure she'd trusted him one more time and showed up. He dashed across the attic to meet her at the door and grinned as he laid his eyes upon her. Simple as she looked, it was still beautiful to Aaron's eyes, as she'd always been. It was times like that that made him wonder how his eyes could ever wander with a woman so strong, so bold and so diligent to come home to.
She looked significantly more tired than he did but he was determined to fix that. "Just wanted to have dinner tonight, that's all. We haven't had dinner together in a while, just the two of us. Don't worry, Britt and Sam are at Richie's for the night so we don't have to rush off in the middle of dinner for anything. It's just us tonight." He was hoping that his words would alleviate her stress some even though she'd been more interested in fretting over their kids than spending time with him lately. He flashed her another one of his famous grins that brought countless others in the world to their knees.
Stepping out of the doorway, he took her hand and led her into the attic, standing out of her way so she could take in the sight before her. Their first date had been many, many years ago but he knew Patience was sharp and he knew she'd remember why he'd decorated the attic the way he had. He smiled at her, her hand still in his, waiting for the realization to dawn her. The intimacy, the gesture of simply holding hands felt foreign as it'd been so long since they'd made an effort to restore it in their marriage, but Aaron refused to give up. They'd take steps forward tonight if it was the last thing they did.
Holiday baking is taking over my social life. And my kitchen. Unfortunately, there isn’t much of either to speak for, but that’s beside the point.
Well hey, at least you're being productive, right?

I’m sure she will, she was always the firecracker that one. Shi was hesitent but knew that in her state - there would be no taking of any chances. They really are, I guess that is our fault, isn’t it? I like it though. We don’t have boring kids, that’s for sure.

Absolutely our fault. Of course Brit and Sam decided it was alright to take on all of the qualities in Patience and myself that are double edged swords. Shi...you know she reminds me more and more of Heather every day and it almost startles me some days. We're getting old, Richie.

To say that it'd been a stressful few weeks in the King household would be an understatement. It seemed that everyone in Aaron's small family had been getting on each other's nerves, namely the two heads. He and Patience were both strong, independent people, which would probably explain why it took so long for either of them to so much as admit something was wrong in their seemingly perfect home. Aaron sighed at the thought as he adjusted the rose he'd placed at the center of the circular table he'd placed in the attic.
He'd cleared out the entire attic, lit it up with golden Christmas lights and borrowed a circular table from the diner to set up with a white tablecloth and an assortment of flowers. It was just as his first date with Patience was. When she'd first agreed to go out with him of all the places he could have afforded to take her he remembered settling for the attic of Yale's Boxer House. He knew he had it in him to woo her without his money to aid him back then and though his faith was a little less firm today, he still knew he could do it again. After all the support she'd given him all his life, Aaron knew he owed it to Patience to set his own pride aside for once and try to make it up to her.
Peering out the window next to the table he looked out to the empty driveway. He'd asked her to come up to the attic around 8pm and it was now 2 minutes to. He straightened his tie, cleared his throat and strode over to the door, ready to be the utmost of gentlemen for her-that is assuming she hadn't played his invitation off as a joke and decided against coming to him in the first place.

Good, Good. I knew that would be your next call. I am sure Sam will give you some resistance too - but it is very important everyone gets this shot. I wouldn’t want an outbreak. Shi has gotten hers yes, I am waiting for Graves to come back so he can have his.
I forgot to tell you we are bringing a few new places into the theory - in a way to brighten the air. One of those buildings will be a gym. Which means both of us old men should start boxing again. Being sick just reminded me how important health was and I admit I haven’t properly exercised the way I should have.
I'm sure Sam will question the life out of it. You know her, can never be too sure about one thing. Our kids sure are one of a kind, aren't they?

Yes. Last week - it hit me hard. Felt like the flu and something completely unknown hit me all at once .I went to talk to Dr. Dixon and we figured we she take a closer look. Others began to come to him with the same problem so we started working on a shot. You’ll be sure to get the shot, won’t you Kingsly?

Yes, yes I have Aaron. It was the first thing I checked but turned out to not be the problem. I believe it could be something with the blood. But I have been working with the doctors and I think we have found a way to fight it before it becomes a problem.
The blood? What on earth's that mean?

I don’t know why, okay? So, I don’t know how in the world you can help Aaron. Who said I want to be familiarized with anybody? The only people I care about are the members of my family and that’s not going to change I don’t think.
Jesus, you're snappy tonight. Why are you so opposed to trying to adjust to this place? It's not going to get any better if you shut yourself in your room the entire time, you know.
