I'm actually a little intimidated to tell anyone around me that I'm seriously considering going Vegan. For the past two and a half years, I've been, how should I say this, red meat-less? So no pork, beef, nada. I kept poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy because I just wasn't sure if I could let go, no matter how awesome I think the Vegan lifestyle is. Now let me make this very clear before I go on...
I do not judge those who eat meat. My daughter and husband do. I don't knock it. I cut red meat out for my own personal benefits. I understand that meat eating is a way of life and SURE, it would be cool if we didn't have to slaughter animals, but I'm not here to burn bras and join Peta, I typically want to continue to educate myself and my body on different and possibly better ways of eating
I still want the option to wear leather, eat honey, have cheat days for cheese ((haha)) and not have to follow every single Vegan rule. I'm not one to walk a straight line anyhoo...Like I said, I want to educate myself, but 25 years of certain ways of living and being brought up is hard to break habits cold turkey.
I really don't want to have to explain to my mom the Vegan life style. Though she supports me in everything I do, she has always questioned my healthy life style and thinks I starve myself. I actually eat every two hours and though it isn't a fried pork chop, it is food that is filling.
AdvoCare offers Vegan shakes that I drink anyways, but I still will be eating my Vo Prime bars from the Performance Elite line. Those things are just packed with TOO MANY good things for my body athletic wise.
I've been considering Vegan for a little over a year now. Husby is actually on board and (thankfully) has a really good friend who is Vegan that he works with at the fire station. Husby is a great cook, so he's been trying different recipes for his friend lately since the guys at the station give him a hard time. Thankfully for this friend, it has been such a delightful transition in my home because husby LOVES vegan sweets. Plus, he really enjoys cooking so If I could keep him busy on new recipes, I know I have this on lock. Anyhoo, here's to day 1. My goal is to start out eating at least 5 days out of the week Vegan. My long term goal is to have this down packed, including how to grocery shop without going broke, by June so that when we leave for Japan, I have nothing to worry about.
Happy Eathing! Wish me Luck!
