For a moment, Lily felt petty enough to just let him go. Things had been awkward and tense between the two and because of that, the young VK had closed in on herself when she had finally felt like she could open up. It had only ended up blowing up in her face. It still didn’t stop the hurt when she watched him get up to walk away though, pushing away from the table and grabbing his hand. “I…You’re fine. I’m just being cranky. We should…talk though.”
Morgan nodded, “Okay.” He sat down, and started rambling, “I’m sorry. I haven’t been out much, and if I’m being honest loving you scares me. Because if you get too close, I might close in and burn you again. I’m sorry. I love you, Lily. I do. You are the only person I want to be with, but how do I find that balance of work and life? I don’t know yet. I just.... I don’t know. I’ve been talking with my mom and dad about ruling a kingdom. It’s not for me, but I have to face the facts: This world I live in, where books are my only friends, and I study till the break of dawn... it’s killing me, and I don’t want to kill you with it.”

Even after all her time around more than half the people at the wedding, Lily still couldn’t believe how wild they all could be. The yelling and drama was more than enough entertainment for the young woman to last a lifetime. It didn’t stop her from feeling the slightest bit bitter that she had to even come to begin with when all she had wanted to do was stay in the studio at the school and paint. She couldn’t fully complain when at least she was getting free food and drinks from it all. “Can I help you? Can’t you see I’m busy?” She asked, glancing up at the person who sat at her table and raising an eyebrow, hoping to scare them off.
Morgan had been an awful boyfriend. He had let his insecurities get the best of him, and his stress level had gone off the roof. Dancing was never his thing, though the music was loud enough he could kind of hear it. Seeing her lips move never got old, though. Morgan smiled, shyly, like a school boy with a school crush. He signed, “SORRY”, grabbing his beer and moving out of the way. He hoped she’d stop him
Lily was smart enough to not want a boy caught up in his work. He knew that. She knew that.
Maybe they weren’t meant to last.

Right? They should be able to tell what you are saying as well.
I can say words, but they don’t come out as clearly as when I sign. And when people move around a lot and don’t look at me, speaking with a normal pace... it’s just hard.

Oh gosh, but nurses have such hard jobs, they have to deliver such bad news all the time! It must be so hard to do that without bursting into tears every time you tell someone how sick they really are, I totally admire them for being able to keep a straight face and try to stay strong for their patients.
Um, did you tell her that you needed a little something extra to understand her? I’m sure she would have tried harder if she knew, but people aren’t mindreaders, I’m sure she was just doing her job!
No, I understand that. This was a school nurse, not a hospital one though. No one is dying in Auradon that I know of.
Yes, and then she slowed down too much only to speak quickly the rest of the time. Finally, an ASL student came and interpreted for me after I texted one. I can hear ambient noises, but other than that I’m lost. She was moving fast and everything-- I guess the nurse never really encountered a hard of hearing person.

Exactly! I know some people are just not expressive, but it just doesn’t help in the deaf world.
