how does jack feel about travel? would he rather be constantly travelling in terms of business or pleasure?

when an answer should be simple but it becomes complicated af.

so, the truth of the matter is that jack hates the idea of going to a ‘foreign’ place. not foreign as in people or another culture, just somewhere he’s not familiar with. truthfully, there are some xenophobia undertones but not from him. it’s the irrational  ( & possibly imagined ) fear of everyone else around him. at the end of the day, he is a brown latinx man who society would love to see fail. there will be a written meta about a huge traumatic moment that has shaped his view of the world because it’s a huge root in his fears when it comes to new places.

in the same breath, he has to travel in his ‘line of work’, especially when with the guardians. one might not see him back at home for at least a month or so between trips. the weird part is that he could never permanently be gone, especially from earth. he needs to be back to what he knows & what he feels comfortable with. call it a security measure, but the risk, in his mind, is too great to ever be gone for an extremely long period of time.

so there is a need for him to travel & he is not against it, but he’ll always return home quicker than usual if he can manage to. even at the age of twenty-eight, he still has his worries that something will happen & his mind can’t risk that.

when jack was doused in the HYDE FORMULA after his confrontation with calvin zabo, it did meld with his DNA & body, giving him more than superhuman strength, endurance, and reflexes. it also gave him a regenerative healing factor however it’s not an instantaneous one. he heals a lot quicker than the average human. a bullet hole or puncture wound will heal within minutes. a broken bone will reset within the hour. his heart can be stopped and, if in extreme conditions, it could potentially cease to do so forever. but, for the most part, it will start again soon enough. he’s not immortal, just highly unlikely to die unless under intense duress.

the flip side of being acquainted with the formula that it did affect the chemicals with his brain, causing him to anger a lot quicker than usual. he has, on occasion, bouts of rage and it’s extremely hard to snap him out of it. what works the best is knocking him out and allowing his body to rest. he’s also prone to fits of recklessness, though these urges have been able to be quelled pretty easily.

only those closest to him really know the full range of negative effects of the formula. so far, that list includes @warbonded & @torchbore. he hasn’t had an episode in some time, but it’s always a possibility of happening at some point.
