First off, let me say that the customer service for this company is wonderful. I spoke with a customer service representative about what kind of battery was needed for it (because I opened it to check and dropped the battery down a floor grate like an idiot) and he was polite and friendly the entire time, and did not laugh at my clumsiness. So, seriously, well done.
The thermometer itself is very flexible, so it is easy to take ear, oral and armpit readings. As advertised it does provide a quick reading for oral, though you have to wait a bit longer for ear and armpit readings. I tested the oral reading about 3 times over the course of 10 minutes while reading, and the temperature was within .2 of the previous reading each time. Overall I consider that to be excellent accuracy for an everyday use thermometer.
It is soft and smooth, and unlike other, plastic or glass, thermometers it did not feel painful, or like i was afraid to bite down on it. The reading screen is backlit, which makes it easy to read in both bright and dark rooms, like in the middle of the night when you are checking if your fever *finally* broke. It also has a noise that it makes to let you know it is done, and in addition to providing the normal reading it has a color coded chart on the top that an arrow points to, so you can see where your current temperature falls on the scale from normal to dangerous.
The only real caveats about this thermometer is that it does take longer for armpit or ear readings, and that you may need to hold up the end of the thermometer for oral readings, as the flexibility of the tip means that the main portion of the thermometer will be pulled down by gravity, and that can get annoying. Other than those two, small, things, this thermometer works amazingly well and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good everyday thermometer.
