//Hey guys, it’s a hard decision, but I’m going to be dropping Ruby from Citta. Her muse didn’t stick the way I’d hoped it would, and I’m absolute crap at splitting my attention between two muses. I’m sorry to the people who gave me a chance to thread with them, and I’m sorry to Anna and her Sapphire. I hope someone else comes along and picks up Ruby, because what is Sapphire without her Eternal Flame Baby?

“Man... I feel tired, like I just went and slept for, like, several weeks.”
“Yes, yes…I’m fine.” She felt tears welling up.Usually She wouldn’t be so emotional, especially now that she knew Ruby was okay, but it was harder to stay level-headed when she didn’t have the future to look to.
“Are you okay? Did they hurt you?”
Ruby brings a hand up, moving Sapphire’s hair so she can look her in the eye. “Ah--hey, c’mon, don’t--don’t cry, it’s gonna be okay...” She brushes a hand across Sapphire’s cheek.
“No, they... I’m not hurt, but...” Ruby pauses, debating sharing her missing powers. “Sapphire, they took my gauntlet. They took everything. What is this place?”
“Oh you another one a them immortals?” Claire tipped his hand forward, bowing a little.
“Excuse me then, I’m honestly so sorry.” He said it with sincerity even though the apology was overdone. Wasn’t the first time he had encountered a kid who happened to be thousands of years older then him. Though maybe this time it would involve less killing. At least he wouldn’t have to hesitate about breaking something if they got rowdy.
“Yeah, I don’t think you’ll be doing much damage with those.” Guess they had a lotta pairs. Might come in handy if he messed up a few times.
“But listen, baking ain’t some sissy profession. Women love a man who looks good in nothin but an apron, you know what I mean?” Claire pointed to them again. “Course ya do. So anyway, we’re gonna need to hit the store for ingredients first.”
Well... at least the guy apologized? She hadn’t expected that out of him, honestly.
“Yeah, no kidding I won’t be,” Ruby grumbles, dismissing the mitts again.
“Wh--no, I don’t know what you mean? What are you talking about?” Ruby throws her hands out to the side, her angry face also confused now. “What do we need ingredients for?” Was this guy insane? Bored? Insane and bored?
A Ruby…?
No, the Ruby. This was the Crystal Gems’ Ruby. And she was acting… almost friendly? At the very least, she wasn’t outright attacking Peridot… probably the result of time shenanigans or something. The whole thing only proved to throw Peridot off her grump-game.
“I saw her, but like crud if I know where she went.” Not very helpful. “And you’re in a city. Duh.”
Ruby groans, loudly. “That doesn’t help me! None of that helps me!”
Ruby starts pacing. “You know that’s not what I was asking! And why do you have your... your... thingies again?” She points at Peridot’s enhancers. “What is going on with this crazy place?”
“Ruby!” Sapphire sprinted forwards, completely ignoring the limitations of her powers. She didn’t stop running until she was safely in Ruby’s arms.
“Ruby! I didn’t know where you were! I was afraid I’d never see you again!”
The moment she has Sapphire in her arms, Ruby feels less frantic, less lost. She holds her tightly, pressing her face into her hair.
“I know, I’m sorry, I--I don’t know what happened, but we’re together again.” She pulls away, just enough to see Sapphire’s face. “Are you okay?”
“You little gremlin!” Claire rushes to the ground, skidding on his knees and shaking his fist in despair. “Listen here, I’ll tell you whats going on and it’s that ya ruined a perfectly good pair of oven mitts. Now see what if I wanted to bake a cake for my fiance? How am I gonna do that now kid?” He stood back up and pointed at them. “Oh and on the subject, you know how to bake a cake?”
Ruby jumps a bit at the guy--a human? probably--who is suddenly kneeling beside her. “Wha--” What was he talking about? “You... no, you don’t... kid?!” Now she fumes at him. “I’m thousands of years older than you, buddy. And these oven mitts...” she summons them back to her hands, making grabby motions with them. “They’re not for some sissy baking, okay? They’re supposed to be war gauntlets.”

She’s tried punching a brick wall at this point, both with and without the oven mitts, not even managing to chip one of the bricks. And so, after glaring at the wall for a full minute like it was the wall’s fault, Ruby crumples into a frustrated, angry ball with a growl. She sits there grumbling for a while.

Her frustration had reached a boiling point, and she was just realizing that there was a significant lack of burning and melting around her, as was usually the case when she lost control of her anger. “What have they done to me?”

“Ugh! Did they seriously give me oven mitts?” Frustrated, she throws the mitts on the ground, stomping them until they poof, much like anything generated from a Gem. “What is going on?”

As if it wasn’t hard enough being without Sapphire and her abilities, now Ruby was figuring out they’d taken her own. The first time she tries to summon her gauntlet, she finds her hands instead covered by quilted red oven mitts. “Are you kidding me with this?” she shouts at her hands.

She wouldn’t have minded finding Peridot, but seeing her with her limb enhancers threw Ruby off. Still, Ruby tries to find whatever calm she can have without Sapphire--not a lot, to be honest--and she calls out to the other Gem. “Peridot! Where’s Sapphire? ... Where are we?” The last part is almost an after thought.

Ruby would recognize her anywhere, from any distance. After a brief pause, she runs forward, crying out, “Sapphire!”

Of all Gems to run into, Jasper was one of the worst for Ruby to find. She skids to a stop from running, glaring up at the quartz. After a moment, Ruby groans, clenching her fists. “I don’t have time for you!” she growls, going to run around the larger Gem.
Starter Call! Capping at 5 likes, no cap for castmates uwu. Ruby’s gonna be running around screaming and looking for Sapphire for a little while so be ready for some short red anger.
Ruby barely heard anything that recording told her, as she furiously fumed before walking out of the room entirely.
And then she realizes she’s not Garnet--she’s just Ruby.
“Sapphire...!” And she’s off running, with no idea of where she is, how she got there, or if Sapphire was even in the area.
Alright, I think I have her about as ready as I can get her for now, so: Acting on my reserve and apping Ruby from Steven Universe!
