Dodge Charger R/T, 1968. The R/T (for Road/Track) was a new high-performance package to go with the new 2nd generation Charger fitted with the 440 "Magnum" V8. For 1968 initially 35,000 units were planned for production but demand was high and 96,100 Chargers were produced including 17,000 R/T models.

Mercedes-Benz C111 II, 1970. The death was announced this week of Bruno Sacco, who served as the head of styling at Mercedes-Benz from 1975 to 1999, having joined the company in 1958. A German-Italian who had studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin, Sacco worked at both Ghia and Pininfarina before moving to Germany and joining Daimler-Benz AG. The C111 was a series of experimental cars used to test new engine technologies, including rotary, diesel and turbochargers, for which Sacco was lead designer.

Mecedes-Benz R129 Preserial, 1988. The 5th generation Mercedes SL was designed under Bruno Sacco who passed away on September 19, 2024, aged 90 years. The R129 replaced the most successful and longest-running SL in Mercedes history, the R107 that had been introduced in 1971. During its 12 year model run the R129 series SL was fitted with a huge range of engines from a 2.8 litre DOHC straight 6 up to a 7.3 litre AMG V12 that was fitted to just 85 cars.

Mazda RX-85 Concept, 1967. Presented at the 14th Tokyo Motor Show, a prototype for the second generation Familia coupé which was the first Familia generation to be offered with a rotary engine. The rotary Familia was marketed internationally as the R100 (it was powered by a 100hp 982cc 10A Wankel engine). Note the tachometer has no red line, which is typical for rotary engines
