Gordon shook his head slightly against her middle. This wasn’t normal for him. He knew living in isolation but he didn’t know a life on the run, he didn’t know how it felt to be hunted down. Jiaying had protected him from that all his life. It had grown to a bogeyman in his mind like a child’s cautionary tale. “They can track me every time I use my powers,” he explained quietly, pulling back just far enough to be heard. “I used to take the bus around as a kid, but -- I don’t know how to get around without my powers anymore. If I can just find a way to start, a way to hide or maybe stop them tracking me...” There were too many variables to consider.
