@floescu <asked Javier> “ i’m gonna wait for you, as long as it takes. ” <accepting>
He’s never felt nothing in the world like this before, even in his first marriage to Ines, there was nothing, it was a loveless marriage with constant bickering and arguing. That marriage, that relationship could have been the worst relationship in all of history. But this—what he felt, the feelings he held for the woman before him was far greater than anything he’s ever felt before. ‘I will always protect you, Mihaela.’ He promised and yet he had been put in a position where he had to break that promise. There would never be enough winds to sweep away the feeling of guilt that was rising, even as her words settled over him.
It would only be a couple of weeks, a few at most before he’d be able to return with the proper tools needed to finish what he had started. To finally bring a sense of peace and quiet—safety and calm to the Village of Titular. Javier wasn’t entirely sure how much that meant to the locals, but to her… to her he knew it meant everything. She wouldn’t leave, even if he had asked her to. No… he would never ask her to leave her father behind and the man was in dire need of medication, there would be no way to move him safely.
What a wicked web it was that life had created for the two of them. It seemed they were put through test after test. His life was constantly hanging on a thread with the disappearances of others just like him and she… being in that damned castle looming above as if mocking him and the locals.
Beryl gaze doesn’t leave obsidian, he always told himself to never get too close to those involved in cases. Mihaela wasn’t the first—Consuelo had been but even then, things had been different. The cold wind that blew around them made it so blonde strands caressed her features and God, he hated every minute of this, as if anything would change it, as if there was something he could say or do. Telling her he had to leave for a short period time came harder than he thought it would. He couldn’t help but to think back to their night of sharing drinks over tales of where has been and questions about what was beyond snow painted mountains.
‘a whole world resided beyond the mountains.’
Her dark eyes came to life full of curiosity and wonder. Perhaps it was that curiosity that would cause his heart to skip an extra beat, or the wonder of life beyond the mountains that made him realize the type of soul trapped in hell that was her village.
There was a heavy sigh that fell from his lips when he finally made himself look away from her obsidian gaze. Of course, there was no expectation for her to wait around for someone like him, he could be the most unreliable person in the world. Javier said he’d finish this. He’d bring an end to the mystery, and allow closure for so many. A hand came to run over his features, the whole situation was weighing on him and now he was struggling with having to leave her—anything could happen to her while he was gone—he didn’t want to think of the worst case scenarios but he couldn’t help himself with what he has seen in this place—in this hell.
Gentle hands placed themselves against her cheeks, the warmth a contrast to the cold and snow that surrounded them. Beryl meeting obsidian. “I will come back.. sin importar lo que cueste, (no matter what it takes) I will come back…” Was he making another promise? Was it a promise that too would be broken—he couldn’t protect her from so far away. He had no doubt she can take care of herself but he also saw the carnage left behind after an attack. He wasn’t sure if he could protect himself at this point. Lips press gently to her forehead before pulling her into him.
Javier didn’t want to leave, there was an hour counting down before he had no choice in the matter. “Te voy a extrañar, Mihaela. (I’m going to miss you.) I promise you, I will come back and I will bring everything you need for your father… for the people of this village.” As much as it hurt, he was content to just have his arms around her, she was there and she was still safe. Javier just couldn’t help but worry when he is gone. He knew one thing, next time he came back, he wasn’t leaving without her.
