Big Ass Music Challenge | #5 -Ā Top 10 favorite bands of all time (in alphabetic order)
EPICA at Epic Metal Fest by Tim Tronckoe
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Canvas Of Life (8/30)
Life and death has always been a big theme within Epica songs and Canvas of Life is about the circle of life.Ā
- Simone Simons about Canvas Of Life
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Chemical Insomnia (9/30)
āāChemical Insomniaā is basically about the power of the mind and how insomnia can make you addicted to sleeping pills and you enter this vicious circle where you cannot sleep without the pills and you start daydreaming, you start experiencing nightmares during the day.ā
- Simone Simons about Chemical Insomnia
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Delirium (10/30)
āāDeliriumā is almost acoustic and acapella, itās very intimate.ā
- Simone Simons about Delirium Ā Ā
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Design Your Universe (11/30)
āAbout the universe itself, that people are responsible for their own lives and create their lives, their universe with their consciousness. By living their dreams, exploring their talents, taking risks. And I totally agree with that. I took the choice to become the singer of Epica and I didnāt go to college. So I donāt regret doing that, otherwise I wouldnāt be here.ā
- Simone Simons about Design Your Universe
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Natural Corruption (15/30)
āāNatural Corruptionā is about the unfortunate fact that there are many charity organizations are corrupt, people are spending money, donating money for their own peace of mind thinking that they are helping other people in need and you donāt always know where the money ends up. I got that idea when we had the unfortunate event in the Philippines and everywhere there were charity organizations popping up, Iām not saying that all of them are corrupt, but some of them definitely are, and people are just donating money just so that they can say that they did something. So thatās a little bit about it, itās one of my favorite songs.ā
- Simone Simons about Natural Corruption
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Unchain Utopia (25/30)
āāUnchain Utopiaā is maybe the only more political themed song of the record, where people are trying to get the power back from the government, because the government is painting a different picture of what is going on, plus the government has a different vision of what a utopia is compared to the public. So itās about freeing yourself from the other personās vision.ā
- Simone Simons about Unchain Utopia
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Unleashed (26/30)
āI think āUnleashedā is the song that sticks to your mind the most after youāve listened to it only once. Because most of the songs on the album are quite complex and long. This one is⦠I hate to say it, but the most commercial one. (laughs) It has no grunts in it, so it addresses a bigger audience. And itās just a powerful, catchy song. We were already saying during the preproduction, āYeah, thatās gonna be the single.ā (laughs) So it became our single.ā
- Simone Simons about Unleashed
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: Tides Of Time (27/30)
āAnd like I said before, the song was written by Coen, and he handed it to the band a couple days before we entered the studio. And when we went to work on the song, a dear friend of ours ā a family member of one of our band members ā passed away. So we were all in a very sad mood. And sometimes that gives you a lot of inspiration at that moment. Music comes from the heart, and thatās how I felt at that moment. And I think itās also a little bit like a tribute to that person. And a couple months later, my grandmother passed away, so we played that song at her funeral. A lot of people were touched by it, and I think thatās a good thing. Itās a very honest song.ā
- Simone Simons about Tides Of Time
The greatest EPICA songs until The Holographic Principle: The Essence Of Silence (3/30)
āāThe Essence Of Silenceā is a little taste of whatās yet to come, but this song raises the bar of EPICAās music once again. Get ready to bang your head on some pounding heavy riffs. grooving drums, and a chorus that will stick in your head for a long time!ā
- Ariën van Weesenbeek about The Essence Of Silence
