caretaking a whumpee that's been sexually abused and is now convinced they're disgusting, ruined, forever stained. whumpee that craves physical/verbal affection as much as they hate it. caretaker having to toe the line between assuring whumpee that they're still desirable without scaring whumpee. and making sure whumpee knows that attraction doesn't inherently mean action. caretaker saying they're pretty doesn't mean caretaker wants to rape them. accepting a compliment doesn't mean whumpee has to let them have their way with them. having to train whumpee's brain out of associating pet names and compliments and body maintenance and the mere concept of attraction or sex with whumper and only whumper. without also triggering whumpee.

During torture, Whumpee starts feeling like they're about to die. There's just so much blood, and everything hurts, and they're dizzy and weak, and Whumper doesn't look like they're going to stop.

Whumper only hushes them with another line of fire across their body, and holds closer their trembling form, their expression intense. — "Not yet. You'll stay alive for me. I know you will."
