This beautiful wedding dress was designed by Dorothy Jeakins for use on Julie Andrews as Maria Rainer in the 1965 classic The Sound of Music.

The gown has a stand-away collar, piping trim to the neckline and   waistline, slender long sleeves, a raised waistline to the front that   graduates to a gathered train to the back, decorative fabric-covered   buttons with loop closures running down the center back of the gown, silk organza lining to the bodice, and a graduated hemline.

Once the filmed wrapped, the gown went into the costume stock at The Western Costume Company, where it was likely rented out numerous times. One time it seems to have been used was in 1968 in the television show The Ghost and Mrs.Muir in the second episode - The Haunted Honeymoon, where it was worn by Yvonne Craig as Gladys Zimmermann, though the  gown appears to have undergone some alterations.

At some point, the gown was purchased and put into the private collection of Jane Withers, and ultimately went up for acution at Julien’s Live in 2013, where it sold for $23,040.

Guys, would you consider 19 degrees celsius warm or cool? What’s cold for you guys? I’m trying to understand teh weather language of different countries.

19 is warm but not hot I’d say and I’m from the South East of England. However, when a friend visited from Newcastle (North East) and it was 19, she said it was really hot so 🤷‍♀️

Cold for me would be 5 and below.

I’m in the NorthEast in the US and it would be warm but now hot. It’s -9 Celsius where I’m at today so I’d love it to be 19. We also go by Fahrenheit 19C = 66F.

I’m coastal CA and that is chilly. We would be in jackets and heater on. My heater is set at 20.5C/69F .

Here’s a cropped photo (I took it because I was horrified with what he was wearing) of my husband snow-blowing last week in shorts. I guess you get used to it. We do plan to relocate south in the next 2 years to somewhere with longer summers.

Is he wearing shorts! That is an awful lot of snow! I just remembered my mum and my sister and her family just went up to Canada for a holiday a week ago and my mum looks miserable in the photos. She said it was so cold she just sat in the car for most of it while the rest of the family enjoyed the snowy mountain top (I don’t know where exactly they went but there were mountains in the back - I know their flight landed in Vancouver).
